I was looking for a bird backpack and was able to speak to one of the store associates named Erica who was incredibly helpful in assisting me with my search. She took the time and consideration to help me find what i needed online and referred me to some excellent manufacturers and also give me some valuable information on what’s best when considering buying one and which accessories were needed. I will be frequenting Parrotopia again in the future for all my needs bird related.

Picked up a Blue & Gold Macaw today. So happy with him. Will definitely do business here again.Very knowledgeable, huge selection. Fantastic prices compared to anyone around. They have a few rare ones you won't find elsewhere and if you did they'd be 25%-50% higher in price.The majority of their birds are hand fed tame.

Love love love!!!! We had parrots growing up and then, as adults, when I had my child, we didn’t have any, but we always wanted more. My kiddo is finally old enough and decided to visit this place since it had good reviews. So glad we went!!! Very knowledgeable, super friendly, great selection! When we first went it was still small (before the remodel) and even when it was small they made sure all their parrots had time on the floor interacting with people. They took their time explaining everything and were super patient. Their birds are very well handled, all are friendly, staff is well informed, we’re always greeted happily, and we couldn’t be happier with our nanday conure. We’re so happy, we went back to get another parrot (currently waiting for him to be old enough to bring home). Prices are fair, (for example, food and toys are about the same price on Amazon, so you may as well support a small business in your town) they have fresh food for your parrots, their always willing to give advice and take time to explain things, and all in all is always a welcoming atmosphere.Update: we got another! Love that they always take care of our baby’s when we go out of town, and are quick to respond when we have questions. I added pics of our new addition, an Indian Ringneck. We named her Luna.

Absolute best place to buy bird food/treats/accessories in town! The owners and volunteers are always so friendly and I love coming to see all the birds that are available. They also have fresh chop for our feathered baby which is so convenient.

Absolutely amazing, very clean and welcoming! I went there after Bird Mart failed me. The owners and the girl working there are amazing, upbeat and welcoming people. Birds had variety of food to choose from and based on their policies you can see that they really care about the birds! The prices are very reasonable I would say. The whole time I was there, the girl working there was always there to help and introduce me to the birdies. I finally purchased my lil birdie from here and I can’t wait to have her in my house overall great people, beautiful place. Would recommend.

I board my parrot here when needed. When I pick him up, he always acts like he's had a blast and is often extra chatty for a few days after. The owners and staff are great with him, even when he's in a bitey mood. They also have the best toy selection in town.

I love this place, they are like family. I spend at least an hour and a half there every time I go, and they're wonderful, very knowledgeable, and cool as hell. And they know how to deal with my mean Indian ringneck.

The female owner was kind and helpful, but the male owner is reluctant to sell to first time bird owners or anyone with young kids in the house. High prices for a rescue. Went elsewhere.Birds were at least well cared for.

Went in looking for a Conure and daughter fell in love with a lovebird. Was a bit more expensive than those questionable craigslist ads, but I'll gladly pay that to have a hand raised bird as well as support a small local business that truly cares for their birds. Employees were wonderful and Lisa spent an amazing amount of time with us. Definitely check this spot out if you're looking for something a little more special than a Petco Parakeet.

This is a top notch bird business. They offer a variety of bird safe toys, high quality foods, cages- pretty much everything you need to take care of your babies.They also hand raise baby birds to give them the best chance at finding happy homes. They also support the birds with information and help when needed.I have worked with them on the rescue side. They are careful about where they place their surrendered birds and go out of their way to be understanding and support both the old owners and new. I have personally talked to Gina as she struggled with how best to support the birds and their people.The owners are genuine, try to do the right thing, and are in this business because they are bird people and saw a need. I highly recommend supporting this business!

Very great staff, IF you are white. Agreed with the comments on here about the strange treatment if youre not white. Even the other white customers look at you weird, as if youre trespassing. Definitely an unwelcoming place. I gave them my number, waited for them to get back to me. Weeks went by, they never did. I called them, they did not want to get back to me. This place is trash anyways.Do yourself a favor and dont spend your money here. Go support another business that wants your business and respects you.

We took our two cockatiels here today for grooming and we were so impressed by the customer service here. It’s a hidden gem in Citrus Heights.We usually go to a local shop that’s closer to us, but the service here is well worth the drive. We will be regulars from now on.The owners and staff were very attentive and told us they would order anything we needed if we couldn’t find it in their shop. We felt our birds were handled with care and they even gave us a tour of their boarding area.I’ve always been nervous to leave them with people we don’t know while I’m trips, but because of the hospitality here we will be utilizing their boarding facilities this summer. It’s apparent they treat their birds with great care and show appreciation to their customers.Thank you Parrotopia for the great experience!

Best bird shop ever!! We purchased two of our four birds from here and they both have been amazing, happy, healthy little babies. All of their baby birds are hand raised and well socialized, and if you do get a bird who is still being weaned you can come by the shop whenever they are open to spend time with your baby until they are fully weaned and ready to go home. The owners, Gina and her husband Cory, are super knowledgeable and willing to help you out and offer any advice you might need! You can really tell they love and care for these birds and want to see them thrive (even if the bird in question did not come from their shop). They also have plenty of toys, food and treats to select from (our feather babies love the Maka toys the best!). Whether you just need supplies, or are looking to add a new member to your flock or considering becoming a bird parent for the first time, I highly recommend stopping into Parrotopia!!

I visited with my boyfriend a few months back and we were originally very excited to come due to the positive reviews but the visit couldn't have been more disappointing. We were not greeted by anyone when we walked in and nobody even approached us in the 20+ minutes we were in the shop (mind you this is a very small place and the staff were obviously looking aware we were there since we were 2 of 4 customers in there). We both got the impression that the staff's lack of service was racially motivated as we definitely got "a look" by the staff and they were being extremely friendly and helpful to other white patrons that were there. While the birds did seem cared for and the staff seemed knowledgeable, the racism - or at the very least lack of customer service - left a bad taste in our mouth.I definitely recommend checking out The Birds Shop instead - the staff clearly are very knowledgeable, care for their birds, and make sure to connect with their customers to make sure you and the bird are a good fit. A much different and better experience than Parrotopia.

I have been coming here for almost 2yrs for nail trimming. The selection of treats and bird food are very healthy and made with wholesome ingredients. I admire the amazing practices the owners and staff put into place for grooming, boarding, and re-homing are top notch. Highly recommend this store if you are looking for a new bird, or just need supplies. And not only do they offer hand fed babies but they also help find homes for second chance birds. How awesome is that?!

Wonderful and friendly place, I recommend taking a Surrendered bird here over anywhere else. Gina and Cory will make sure your birdie goes to a really good home, mine does right away. They have a method you have to through before adopting a bird, which I like very much. Their place is spotless and birds are very well managed and care for. I praise this place 100%.

Wow I just gotta say that this place is amazing with there birds I just picked up my yellow indian ringneck from the airport today and she was very well raised she is pretty dissensitized with humans. In just a span of a few minutes of being home shes very curious and active. Healthy and happy I will definitely buy my bird supplies from them to!

We absolutely love Parrotopia! We rehomed a lovely little conure a few years ago and I wanted to make sure she got the best so she could live a long, healthy life with us. Cue in finding Parrotopia!They are so knowledgeable and caring. We bought Sersi's cage, toys and food from there. They told us so much about how to take care of her properly. We bring her to vet visits there, and have even bordered her at the store. Our little cuddlebug loves being brought to store and walked around. One time I clipped her nails too short and she started bleeding. I drove her to the store and tried to hold it in...ended up crying and getting reassurance from Gina that I was a good mama. Sersi's bleeding stopped by the time I got there, and I asked them to finish clipping her nails.I am so tempted to buy a friend for our conure from here. The babies are so well-cared for and raised gently. They are all little loves!

Me and my kids made a decision of purchasing a conure from Paratopia 5910 Auburn Blvd suite 9 Citrus heights, CA 95621. I drove all the way from Elk Grove to auburn and really felt that this store had good reviews and felt comfortable purchasing the conure. I took my three kids with me to pick the conure. We made the decision and everyone at the store was very helpful with information. I noticed one thing is that the amount for the bird was pretty expensive. I spend almost around $900. After making the purchase we took the bird home. Me and my kids did spend some time talking to Gina and getting information about the breed. I was also told to remove any candels and specific things that can harm the bird which I did. Couple days went by and the conure was doing Great he had enough food and water in the cage. One day after dropping the kids off to school i noticed there was no movement in the cage and went to see what was going on. I noticed that the conure passed away this was within the date of the receipt. As soon as I seen this I called Gina and I formed her what was going on. Gina informed me that I need to put her in the refrigerator and bring her in asap. I did take some time off work to take her the conure. Gina did informed me that she was going to send the conure to do an autopsy which she did. After a few days I got a phone call back and I was told that it could be numerous of things which i did not get an exact answer. I was told that the conure did have food and water in the belly. So I asked Gina if there is anything they can do to help due to my kids being very emotional that the conure passed away.All I asked was if there can be a discount for another bird knowing that I would have to pay again. Gina informed that she had to talk to her husband Corrie. I never received a phone call or a text until I placed a phone call to them. Corrie informed me that there is nothing he can do. I never wanted my money back at all I wanted was another conure and not to pay full price. As a paying customer I would not recommend this location as they are over priced and not understanding of certain circumstance.

We bought a handfed baby Conure for my teenage daughter, from Gina and Cory DeWees at Parrotopia, Citrus Heights, Ca.We love our Conure dearly, he is the best bird♥️I attribute this to the way Gina handled him, handfed him, loved him, prior to us buying him. Awesome bird store!! I’ve been in a couple times, I’m on the wait list for a lovebird, I’m so excited to find a place with lovebirds, hand fed and tamed and super cute! The owners are always very friendly and helpful with all questions I have and are so nice to let me play with the lovebirds as they await their new homes!
