Nice selection of fish. There is a little over crowding in some of the tanks. Just be mindful that as a result some of the fish will be stressed. The staff is very friendly, the environment is relaxed. They also have a pretty nice saltwater selection as well. The saltwater fish is select, therefore the tanks aren't crowded and the fish are at peace.. Lastly, I like the display tanks they set up throughout the store. If you're in the market for full grown monster fish, please check this place out, as the big guys could really use a place to call home where they have room to swim, and live out the rest of their days😁

Incense InsanityThe Good: Huge selection of livestock, decor, and LSS in aquatics. Herps was a much smaller section and I spent less time there. Most of the fish looked healthy--saw one dead fish and one dead invert, which for that level of crowds wasn't incredibly concerning, as my eye is particularly experienced as a former professional. Had some really fun species you wouldn't expect to find at a retail store. The wood and rock selection was pretty unbelievable. I don't know corals as well but there was certainly a lot of variety. Saw one lizard gaping for quite some time, but it was parked under a lamp so it could have been temperature regulation and not breathing problems. Prices are quite reasonable for high end retail. The lighting was excellent for almost all the displays and they were generally pretty clean.The Bad/Ugly: There was a giant wad of 10+ sticks of incense burning in one corner. This was right next to a rock display and I can only assume they were trying to cover up a dying live rock smell (dead ocean inverts do stink) but folks, this is not the way. Even with the aquarium air blower intakes obviously elsewhere in the building, I was surprised they hadn't insta-killed their more sensitive fish. And the poor reptiles! Reptiles, like birds, have particularly inefficient lungs that are much more easily damaged than human lungs because they don't turn over as much fresh air at a time. I can pretty much guarantee that with that much fouling of the air every single one of their reptiles has compromised lung health if this wasn't the only time this tactic has ever been used--with that much smoke in the air even one exposure is too many.It's been several days and showers and I am still smelling whiffs of it off my hair and my asthma is still acting up. I could never buy a reptile from here knowing what they are living with, and I would be concerned about putting any of their decor, a lot of which was in that corner, into a tank without letting whatever volatile compounds are now clinging to it get soaked and rinsed off first. Such a shame, because otherwise it would be a great place to shop.

Best experience at an aquarium store. I've seen and read reviews about this shop before, but I never really bothered to make the trip out here. One day, however, my daughter and I were returning from her classes, and I saw the store as I drove by and decided to quickly pop in, and we are glad we did. My daughter had a real blast just looking at all the fish and reptiles they have available. We literally only had time to walk through half the shop before deciding that was enough for this time. We didn't buy anything but when we will, we will be coming here. Even though the prices seem to be higher than other places, I really like how their animals seem like they are taken care of more than other places. The fish all seem lively and healthy. it's kinda rare to not see a couple of dead or lethargic fish in a shop so big, but all the fish seemed healthy.

I would definitely consider this a more high-end fish and reptile shop, offering many freshwater and saltwater fish. They have a decent amount of reptiles but definitely have larger selection in the fish department. They also have a small dog area. They can provide everything that you would need to get started for both fish and reptiles. All sells are final, make sure that you research and know what your purchasing. The staff doesn't hover you, they'll check in with you when you first come in and then let you brows. as soon as you stand in the designated area for service, they are quickly there to guide you and answer questions for you or assist in retrieving your fish. Very nice location with beautiful fish and set ups. We enjoyed just looking around. Well be back for future purchases.

This was our first time in Aquarium & Reptile Depot and we loved it! They have so many fish and different reptiles that look very healthy. They do a two week health check on the animals before they are up for sale, which I think is great. Their feeders look very healthy and a good variety. Tons of tanks & decor. I am also very impressed by how friendly & attentive all the employees are, and answer any questions we had. Very happy with the staff, variety, prices, and most importantly the care & health of the animals/fish! Will be back soon! Thanks for the great experience!

My son & I came in and we bought a Uromastyx. It lived less then 48 hours despite being in its ideal living environment with the proper uvb & heat lamp. I live an hour away so I’ve tried calling several times and there is no way to get through speak to anyone. Other reviews on the fish side say no returns, no compensation, and no refund. My son used his Christmas money he just got for this and $150 wasted.I will sadly avoid this place since you can’t talk to anyone over the phone at all. They are selling live animals and offer no type of customer service or support after purchase. From now on I’ll just stick to reputable breeders. The upside to this purchase was not paying shipping, so that’s one reason I said yes to it. The downside is once it leaves their facility they could careless what happens to it. They claim in the mission statement that this is their passion, that is far from true. Passion doesn’t end when your animals leave your door. They are simply in it for the money & do not care about the experience people receive.

Always one of my favorite places to go especially for oddball fish! Even if it’s just to drop in and look around, the environment is wonderful, there is a large selection, and the staff know their stuff. One of my favorite reasons for coming here is if I have a question and if one staff member might not have an answer then they ask another who might and we all learn something new. If not then they still do their best to help find the answer which is always appreciated. Plus we get to talk about fish so what’s not to love? We always get our fish food from here with the wide variety they have, plus they have goodies for dogs (and I think maybe even cats?) which is an added bonus! It’s definitely a nice, fun place to go to after a long day even if it’s just to browse.

All the employees are friendly....besides the one guy telling my 6 year old to not tease the lizard when he was just looking 🤦‍♀️ Always we'll stocked and open to answering questions. If you need supplies for your fish or reptiles this is the place to go 😊

I use to love this place. I spent hour and half picking out a fishtank and all the stuff for it, the sales lady was nice but when it was time to do a tank inspection, to sign a contract indicating the condition of the tank was good and the sales were final. I noticed the van’s wafer sole footprints on the corners of the box I was skeptical of the tanks condition. Im assuming this was an owner or manager, told me it’s impossible to walk on it and that it probably happened in Germany where they manufactured this fishtank and packaged it. Now because I wasn’t born yesterday I was still skeptical. The ring around the top that holds the lid, had some gouging or scratching so I asked for another tank. They brought me a new lid. I asked why they didn’t grab me a different tank, they said no. I told them I was not going to buy a 1000$ fishtank and sign off on the condition unless they got me a different tank. He said that’s all I can do for you… I left, waste of time. I’ll order my tank online. Thanks. I don’t recommend this place.

Bought 85.00 + dollars worth of fish and got them home and they had ick. Then my fish got ick and i had to treat the tank which I had to go back to them for that. The sales person didn't care. They have NO guarantee in there fish. I looked through there tanks and so many of them have ick and dying and sickly looking fish in them. I ended up over at Petsmart and there tanks are very clean and no sign of ick. They have a guarantee on all there fish for 2 wks from purchase. They will be getting my business. I will no longer shop at this fish store due to the customer care of we don't care and I've spent alot of money there since they opened. I will be telling people to be aware of your tanks and shopping there.

I bought a bottle of “live” copepods. Spoiler: they were bottled more than a month prior and they were all dead. I looked under a microscope too. This was my bad, I should’ve looked at the bottle more closely, but I was really disappointed by the stores reaction and lack of response. I have recommended this store to several friends in the past. I live an hour and a half away, otherwise I would’ve brought it back just to show them how the pods were obviously dead. No response from them before I posted this review. My bad, I shouldn’t have trusted them to sell me live things without checking. Just be on your toes.

This place was fantastic, the employees were extremely helpful and all items were very well priced compared to other pet stores. We went to pick up super worms for our bearded dragon and got a good deal of 100 for $6.99. The clearance rack was by far my favorite thing in the store, it had two more items I was looking for and was able to get at a better price. Cant wait to come back.

Above & beyond what is expected for customer service, the CLEANEST retail experience ever met with, and above the fact that thier fish are amongst the healthiest and above par compared to petsmart or any other store...They also happen to be CHEAPER than any box chain store you could unfortunately have to experience before finding this location.

R.I.P. my Mag 7 aquarium pump - 10+ years that pump kicked 700 gallons an hour. Power to the house was shut off, pump did not come back to the land of the living. Went in to this store hoping they would have one. Nope. But they have one that's quieter, uses half the power, and the sales staff absolutely nailed it when they said "cut the old tubing and replace it".Absolutely appreciate solid advice on a day I didn't want my African Cichlids to die because of a few days to get my delivery from Amazon.

Super knowledgeable staff, friendly and helpful. Beautiful store to visit and roam the aisles, admiring the epic fish tanks, amazing reptiles, adorable tortoises, cool snakes and lizards, and koi pond. All the equipment you would ever need for your aquarium (saltwater or freshwater) or terrarium. They are having a cancelled reptile show sale this weekend and bringing in additional chameleons from their reputable breeder to accommodate the sale. Family run and you can tell the employees love their jobs. First visited before the pandemic and glad they are still so busy during it. It's a jewel of Citrus Heights and the Sacramento area. Fun place to check out with the kids (if they are well behaved) or for a free date idea.

This is by far my favorite place to get all my fish and fish supplies. The store is full of amazing saltwater and freshwater fish crab shrimp live corral driftwood rocks etc.. they even have imported Koi fish all different sizes. I bought all my koi from there and i have some really nice koi that the owner actually helped me pick out! We like the fact that the entire staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Prices are also very reasonable. The unique thing is this store is split into two stores a reptile and a aquarium so its super convenient. Love this place i would give it 10 stars if i could

This place is amazing. It's a must see it yourself to believe it. The shop is clean, well attended to, spacious,employees are absolutely FANTASTIC & so is Management! The fish , reptiles .....well any living being in this place was very well cared for , happy, healthy clean as hell tanks, I was shocked. Keep up the great work. And it didn't even have an odor!!!

Staff there is very friendly and helpful, we asked a couple questions and received the answers to them quickly and in knowledgeable manner , We went looking for some companion for our goldfish (the orangey) and got one white goldfish and one brown goldfish plus a nice small plant. Our "tiburoncin" seems happy with his new friends. We'll definitely go back to shop at this place in a near future.
