Whats the price of the elephant garlic?!!!!!I was just on the phone with my daughter who was shopping at the Chico Food Max When she found a great deal on some garlic two for a dollar. The Checker who is in the photo, told her it wasn’t and the argument Ensued. Why an employee at the Food Max is arguing with any customer I have no idea? She was full of excuses and no prices. This woman decided to argue and not give professional customer service , all my daughter wanted was the price of the elephant garlic, and as you can see in the photo that I’ve supplied there is no price tag. The woman in the photo could have easily scanned to the garlic, called the produce manager, called the store manager, if she had a problem with pricing, but no, she did not.My daughter is a disabled veteran. And so this woman’s aggressive behavior, yes, it was. I was on the phone with her. I heard it all. This woman’s aggressive behavior and inability to navigate what customer service is supposed to be has caused my daughter to not want to shop at your store anymore. I don’t know?, that seems counterproductive to business. Employees who are supposed to be trained to know what they’re selling are so combative they can’t even think straight when asked a question about pricing on the produce? Just give an accurate price of your produce ma’am. Find a way!!My daughter took these pictures and when she did, the woman pictured threatened to call the police on my daughter!!I remember back in the 80s when we had to memorize the prices of the produce and the produce. I’m shocked that this woman gets paid by Food Max to treat customers like this? The manager was there, and did nothing but walk away? I thought it might need to be on the Internet, so Food Max can get a proper review of their customer service so everyone can see.I would like an apology for my daughter. She did nothing wrong, except asked for the price of the elephant garlic of which she was told was a bunch of prices, until the employee landed on $1.99? and we don’t know if that’s really the price. So my daughter just left.It’s not good business to trigger people. I just wonder how many others this woman has accosted with her toxic shock attitude?Please Food Max Do something. Don’t let Chico down.Be kind of veterans. Don’t take out your freedom on those who fought for it. 🙏I’m very upset and I can only imagine how upset my daughter is. It’s just not right.

I'd like to share some feedback about my recent experiences at your grocery store. Firstly, there's a pricing discrepancy between displayed and checkout prices, so I suggest customers double-check their receipts for accuracy. Secondly, I encountered inconsistencies and rudeness when inquiring about prices, which detracts from the shopping experience. Additionally, the parking area outside this store is a safety concern for several reasons. Lastly, I find it concerning that inexpensive liquor is prominently displayed at the checkout, especially alongside candy for children. This seems like an inappropriate mix of products. I hope this feedback helps improve the overall experience. Thank you for considering these suggestions.

The staff are mostly helpful and friendly. Unfortunately they are often short staffed and thus always trying to hire. The store is pretty clean, but frequently out of stock of various items like different cheeses on my most recent visit.

The good....FoodMaxx is great for the basics. The ready to eat cornbread is super good. They have a wide selection of products so prices stay low.The bad...The store layout makes you walk all the way through the produce and down the meat and cheese aisle before you get to the rest of the store. You will not find gourmet food at FoodMaxx.The Ugly...They use old fashion freezers that are not energy sufficient. They keep the checkout lines long to save on overhead cost. Be prepared to wait in long lines and package your own purchases.

Just watched an employee blame the wrong person for shoplifting when they were notified as to who it was. Self checkout needs to get off their phones and actually pay attention. They also refused to apologize to the woman they wrongfully blamed which is very unprofessional.

I don't normally shop here, but since I was picking up some items next door I thought it would be convenient. The entrance door was not working so I came in the exit door (an employee said "Oh, it must be broken again."). I walked around to what would be the entrance door on the inside hoping to grab a basket since I only needed a few things. All they have our carts, so I had to walk back through the store, out the exit door, down past the entrance door to get a cart and then back in the exit door. At that point I realized my quick trip was going to take longer than I had planned, so I made a stop in the restroom. Unfortunately there was no toilet paper so off to shopping I went. Although I found a couple of great bargains that I hadn't planned on getting, I found that the prices were more expensive than the other comparable grocery store close by. Bottom line, if I'm in a pinch and it's convenient, I will stop in if I'm only getting one or two items. Otherwise I will stick to the other stores I normally frequent.

Arguably the best produce department in town. Great deals on meat. Low prices overall. This isn't a "fancy" shopping experience (you have to bag your own groceries, sometimes the meat packages leak, etc.), but it's a good place to get what you need on the cheap.

My all time favorite grocery store. I’ve been shopping at Food Maxx for many years, even before they were Food Maxx... when they were Food 4 Less! This grocery store has a wonderful layout and they are consistent with their prices. The staff is friendly and I can almost always find everything on my list.

This is a great grocery store if you are looking for value. Their produce prices are among the cheapest in Chico. Their meat section is cheap but a little weird it's mostly all from Canada. Great deals on beer and liquor. The only thing is that they typically have insane lines to check out so you may need to wait. Also the store layout pretty much forces everyone to go through the produce and meat sections. The rest of the store have long aisles. Good value on essentials but can be exhausting and not a great place if you are in a hurry.

I can’t believe this store is still open went in this morning and it’s so dirty and gross. Then got to the register it’s an older lady with a beanie on I smiled and she was just so rude I looked at the customer behind me and she shook her head in disbelief I have never left a store feeling so upset like this poor management

Went in today to find some stuff that I needed and i was greeted by a very nice employee. I was not able to catch his name, but he was the one outside pushing carts and got me one as soon as I asked him to. He was a larger build, bearded man. He was kind and friendly and I will definitely be shopping there again because of the customer service.

Low prices make it hard to shop anywhere else, but almost always lines at the register. There can be problems with transients, but they generally keep to themselves. The workers are very friendly, but hard to locate any in the middle of the day. The produce is amazing on freshness and price almost year-round. Shop the flyers for best deals and always compare price per unit on smaller vs larger packages as they get different deals on each and one may be cheaper one time but not the next.
