I come here for fresh water aquarium fish and the live foods they offer. They have a reasonably good selection of fish and some nice plants. What I really love about this place is they are able to order a huge variety of fish and the employees will try and find what you want and order it in for you. I have bought some difficult to find fish and large schools of fish here. over all they are a great resource to have in chico for fish keepers. you don’t have to pay shipping like online and the mark up is very reasonable.

Small local pet shop that is well stocked and run by people that obviously LOVE what they do! Nice fish selection and they can answer any fish related questions.

Low rating because unfortunately we didn't get a chance to actually use the facilities. Store was a little on the dank side. Dog wash area a bit on the dilapidated side. Not good for older pets or larger pets because you have to actually slide a heavy wooden set of steps to the full size bathtub which you have to carry your dog down into and pick him back out of. When suggestes for people with health issues or older people. The only upside is his $5 cheaper than Petco which you have to bring your own supplies to use.

We have been taking our Aussie Luca Bear here to his grooming done and my fiance and I absolutely love their work. They knew exactly what we wanted when we brought him in there. Our doggo looks so handsome every time we pick him up from Chico Pet Works

Took my old mutt in to try to give him a bath, really fantastic and friendly people working there. The groomer helped me get the old man up some stairs into a tub- for $16 they provide tub, shampoo (watered down so I think I’ll bring my own next time), two towels, an apron and a blow dryer. SO worth it not to get all that hair and mess inside my house. Will definitely be back

Petworks in Chico California is an amazing pet store! The staff is friendly, and knowledgeable. Just today my daughter, who is autistic, went in there and got to play with a rat, look at some fish (she's obsessed), and get her puppy a new harness! The staff there always are kind and patient with her even when she comes in just to look around. We're always treated well and they have a great selection of items!

I'll start my review by stating the obvious:PW has been in establishment since the very early 80's; that being said, it's an original Chico business.Thru the years, other pet shops have popped up and that being said, have quite the stock of 🐟 🐠. Within the last 2 months of setting up , I've purchased fish from here, as well as another store on the south end of town. This brings me to the review.Buy your fish at the "other" store. Fish from PW have perished, as well as my mystery snail 🐌, Gary. 😔 I'm not a novice at having aquariums, but will no longer purchase fish here; (I have a hunch the tanks aren't too clean.) Buy at your own risk.🚩Pet Works...clean up your act with the tanks!!You can do better🙃

I LOVE this place. Everyone there is super helpful and nice. Taresa is really awesome. She gives me really great advice for my tarantula. I got a rat there recently and she is in good health and she is eating and climbing and doing a lot by herself (meaning she’s healthy, also she’s pretty young) I’m super content with all the times I go in the building. And happy with all of my purchases. I would definitely recommend going there for a pet or tanks or decor.

Best Pet store in town hands down. The workers here are very knowledgeable. They helped me out on starting my first salt water fish tank. Their fish are well taken care of and the shop is very nice and clean. Don't hesitate to buy anything from these guys.

Been going to this pet store for years on a regular basis to buy rat pups as food for my snake, just got told they have never sold them to people ever at all, I've been fond of this place as well as the lovely woman and gentleman who usually work there, but the new employees are just not that great, they treated me like I had no idea what I was asking about and came off as rude. Won't ever go into the store again if the polite employees aren't there.

Been very happy lately with service and advice. I come every week for supplies and food for 3 different reptiles and a rat, and have appreciated advice on my animals just based on knowing how long I've been going there and them knowing when to upgrade their diets. My kids enjoy petting the bunnies which are always so cute and very friendly.

I come here for fish and supplies. The staff is better trained than big box fish stores in regards to fish care, and is also more knowledgeable. They will often take the initiative and do research If they can not answer your question. They can special order animals and plants they don't carry or are out of, and they are priced fair. I enjoy coming to this store.

Great place, nice atmosphere-- A worker there named Ana was such a blessing! I needed some help choosing a feeder mouse and she was not only knowledgeable but talked about her own snake experience. Thanks Ana!

Have called and been in the store . And it is a nice place however the woman who works there is Very Rude! Any time I have tried to talk to her . She acts as if you are bothering her or she rather not be there dealing with anything . If I could give this place 0stars due to her attitude I would . The guys who work here save the business .

Very helpful. My daughter has been looking at birds for a while. Teresa gave us a call because they had a baby parakeet that had a bit of training and thought it would be perfect for my daughter. She was right, my daughter and her new pet are inseparable. Thank you for thinking of her when you got this bird.

Don't buy your fish here they only have a 24 hour return policy. It kind of suck when you buy a $10 angel fish and go on vacation to find out when you get back home that it had ich and kills all your fish what a waste of money better to spend your money at a big box store at least they would make it right. Should of known better that's not the first time they sold me sick fish
