This place was a fun experience. Definitely a bit pricey with not many non-pricey options. However we got some candied ginger from the bulk bins that was really good and some yeast that has worked wonderfully for rising breads. We have found other local organic stores we like more, but one thing I noticed about this one is it has bulk honey available and bulk shampoos so that you can fill your own containers. I loved the less-waste involved in this idea. They have a coffee stand inside too which was definitely appreciated by my husband. :)

I've been going here for over two decades. A lot has changed in terms of personnel and even store layout. I've been a member then I stopped my membership when Kev stopped working produce. Now every so often I come by to get something specific like good craft beer, kubucha on tap, or cool plants out in front of the store.

Yummy! There sweet potatoes enchiladas and sweet potato anything are so amazingly delicious. Staff is on the ball for any type of herbal or natural tonics and a viable staple in downtown chico for eons.

Found an old gift card from several years back. I figured I should bring it in and at least see if perhaps there was anything at all on it.The employee knew immediately to go to a binder beside the registers and was able to look up the card details right there on paper since they had switched to a new system and no longer had access to the old info! She was fully trained on how to transfer those funds to a new card so I could use it right there on my purchase. The whole process took maybe 2 minutes. I was truly impressed and she was so friendly!I know that if this kind of scenario had happened at some corporate retailer like Safeway or Target (etc.) the cashier would have probably had to call for a manager and it would have held up the line.I'm so happy to be able to be an owner/community supporter of this awesome resource. She even walked me step-by-step through a change of address form for my ownership account.PS - Another employee was able to notice me having a rough tone searching for something after barely 10 seconds and offered to help.PPS - They sell Cali-made "Peanut M&Ms" made by SunRidge Farms (out of Royal Oaks, CA)...called "Milk Chocolate Peanut Rainbow Drops".. I never have to stop by a candy store again.. 😉They're excellent. Worth the splurge. 😁 See photo. Thanks, Co-Op. ✌✊💜

Stay away if you don't want to deal with disrespectful employees! Lady with shoulder length dark hair was unbelievably disrespectful to my family.Edit: Your response does not make any sense? Did you respond to the wrong comment?

This place is a joke I went in there to get some supplements, was asking questions about it the younger kid in the back he was very nice but when I went to purchase my stuff, I was waiting in line and apparently one of the checkers friends that was behind me was more of a priority than I was. She called them right up to the front, and then when I asked her about it, she said oh they were in the right line and I wasn’t. She clearly saw me standing there waiting before her friends came up and then she sat there and just chitchatted with her friends until another checker came up when I asked if there was someone I could speak with. They chuckled at me and said no there’s no manager on today like it was funny which upset me , then I asked for a name and they wouldn’t give me their name so I had something to refer back to… Customer service here is absolute trash… I thought co-ops were supposed to be about the community

Such a great shopping experience. I love the fresh produce. I love the little self serve coffee stand inside. I also really like to purchase my herbs there. The bins are also a fun find. You are encouraged to bring your own containers but remember to tare them before you add your goods. I like shopping here because I am positive that everything in the store has been quality checked and often supports local farms and companies. Thanks for helping us make good shopping choices for feeding our family.

Long time shopper of the Co-op. Small store that packs a lot with many organic selections. They even have some limited fresh meal choices from their kitchen, and a coffee tap (nitrogen) towards the back. Yum!

Small. Very limited parking. Expensive. The only grocer within walking distance to downtown.

Very friendly staff, semi small selection of produce. Small store. Good stuff but low stock (at least when I went) expected more variety of produce but makes sense for a local market

A great small town food cooperative. Yes there is a membership fee but it is a small price to pay to have a store with the essentials and minimal processed foods. The size is wonderfully small. I can lap the entire store in less than a minute. The store also focuses on having lots of local, seasonal and organic food options. They make these difficult food sourcing decisions for me so I can focus my energies elsewhere. Sometimes this means products are a little more expensive but this is the cost of a more sustainable food system. It is also a place where the staff will learn your name if you open up to them. Thank you Chico Natural!

Really clean, beautiful little Chico store. Nice employees, fresh produce, gorgeous handmade woven indian printed little shoulder bags and hip bags. Well thought stocked kitchen goods, like butter keepers, and Palo Santo sticks and candles for home. Nice experience, great location, very easy, accessible parking too! Plus, I'm now a part owner (it's a Co-op) for only $20 per year. They kindly gifted me a huge bag of goodies for joining--yeah! Oh, and they're open till 10pm! terese

I love to shop here. The staff is extremely helpful, especially Beth, who I'm pretty sure does mostly customer relations. The inventory is great, especially in the bulk section. The cashew and almond crunch bars are the best $1 snacks I can possibly imagine. Aside from member discounts, they offer coupons that make help make a big difference in your shopping experience. I prefer the prices over S&S, especially for fruit and produce. I make it a point to renew my membership every year.

As is the case with most stores that sell health Focued essentials or organic food they are not exactly cheap. They do many items that can be a fairly decently priced and a good selection. It's a pretty and a clean store, and their produce is excellent.

A wonderful place to get healthy food & produce. Purchased a “ mummy wrap” out of the deli case-it was delicious! It’s a combo of tempeh, apples, nuts, curry, peas in a wrap. Creative, delicious and healthy

I wanted to thank the Sunday morning staff for being so patient and KIND with me. They went above and beyond their job descriptions. I had not shopped at the co-op since March. I want to make sure their manager knows the excellent customer services these two young folks showed me. Thank you again. Happy holidays to each and everyone of you.

Always a good place to shop while in Chico...my home town. I watched this grocery store grow for the past 35 years. It's such a cool and laid back store, I love this Chico Icon!!

I’m only reviewing the fruits and vegetables since that’s why I went to Chico Natural Foods Coop. I expected a food coop in the Central Valley of California in the summer to have an amazing selection but I was wrong. What they had mostly consisted of some apples and pears which aren’t even grown in the Central Valley. There were also a few small containers of blackberries, blueberries and strawberries and a few small, under ripe peaches. Oh, and everything was refrigerated which is a big mistake for most fruits (especially for peaches and strawberries). I realize the coop is pretty small and they maybe don’t have space for a big selection. If that’s the case just don’t offer them, focus on things you can’t get at the other grocery stores in Chico.

Generally a good selection of natural and organic food but slightly overpriced. Many items have excessive amounts of added sugar. The bulk section is a blessing and a curse. Tip: Do your homework.

Very good food, expensive but worth it, if you can afford. The food bar is the best !! The spinach and cheese croissants are so good. And the fridge with food they cooked on site has great stuff ! My favorites are the butternut squash lasagna & salted caramel brownies 😊

Great store, with wonderful and bubbly staff. They are handling the pandemic wonderfully, they provide masks, have hand sanitizer locations throughout the store and are consistently cleaning surfaces. All around wonderful place to shop and a great place to buy local produce and natural speciality items.
