I came to this store because my mom had called me that they had a item i been looking for, she was there earlier in the day, i get there and they have a rack of clothes outside i go thru it and find a brand new black dress, i take it inside the store and shop around, its the last hour before closing and i wanted to try on the dress before buying it, there was a woman in the dressing room and there was a big mirror on the side of the dressing room, i tried it on ontop of my clothes, there was even a worker right by me , she didnt say anything, as im looking at myself in the mirror another worker comes and sees me and has a conversation with me on how to style the dress, she then proceeded as the woman came out and says the dressing room is now closed, so i knew i wasnt going to have time to try the dress on to begin with, i take it off again infront of the workers, and as i make my way up to the register they dont see that im behind them at the first register and there talking about me loudly , saying theres still someone by the dressing room and the one that had a conversation with me says yeah the one with the black dress yea i know exactly who she is. Very unprofessional and RUDE, basically accusing me of trying to steal the item when i was already being rung up for my items. Why would anyone steal infront of the workers, i called to speak to a manager and was told to call in the morning and not even a sorry, never shopping here again, not all of the girls that work here are bad but definitely some Ghetto laud ones. P.s the dress came from a rack outside if it was going to be stolen why would it be brought inside the store to begin with

Im going to start off saying when I shopped here way back, then the ladies inside were always nice! But I will say take your donations elsewhere! I came to donate with my mom maybe a year ago, and they told her they dont accept trash. Yes, literally this because in the pile of stuff was a juicy couture bag with a hole in the corner. My mom said she didn't notice and that they could just throw it away if they didn't or couldn't sell it. The man told her that it wasn't his job to throw peoples trash and that she could separate trash and not bring things they couldn't sell. My mom just grabbed all her stuff back & donated it elswhere. Lol, fastforward. Almost a year later, we have a yard sale. My sister chooses here to donate. Keep in mind I have not came here ever since that experience with my mom, but I assume so much time passed that it can't be the same. WELL, I WAS WRONG. She shows up exactly 8 min before they close. She starts taking out the trash bags to get started (but no workers are there to help her) as she finishes a worker walks out and tells her there closed its about 2 min til closing at this point. My sister says she already unloaded everything and if she can just leave it and explains how she was here 5 min before they came out. They told her the time didn't matter that if no one is out, "clearly there closed." Never again, choose another thrift store to donate to!

I understand you have hours but when I pull up at 4:05 with clothes, shoes children’s toys, books, and furniture in either like new or brand new condition….I’m just baffled at the fact that you turn me away, wave me off and yell at me that you’re closed. I mean I get it, hours are hours. I just will happily take this down to Salvation Army.

Not sure what's going on with this place. It used to be my favorite thrift store. I visited it nearly every Saturday. Now, the help seems indifferent, the store shelves are half-empty. They have no furniture, and will not accept any furniture donations or books. They did say they will begin taking books again at some time, but not furniture. Seems very foolish. They used to really have it together. I bought several pieces of furniture there and tons of other stuff. I hate to see it go down the tube. Needs new management, I suspect, and some clerks who care. It's been a couple of months since I tried to donate or shop it. I'll try again some time.

I visit this store regularly for books. I often find other great deals on my way to the books. The employees are always friendly, polite and helpful.I'm very glad they are operating in Ceres. As a disabled senior, I was very grateful for the friendly clerk who carried the bookshelf to my car and carefully maneuvered it into my back seat. Thank you ⚘

Her name is SUE and stated she is the manager of the ceres location.Her co-worker who had her back instead of calming the situation down was Carol.Today 4/22/22My 3 children went in today to find my kids some pants. My oldest (13) was irritating My 4 year old, like siblings do. However when my 4 year old wined the cashier screamed at him "hey! Don't do that, we have had a long day" the whole store heard and my son was scared. I was embarrassed and furious at the same time. How dare she scream at my 4 year old for acting like a 4 year old!! I preceded to explain how rude that was when the other worker came up to have her co-workers back. Now I was being double teamed and told to leave the store. I then asked for a manager and the same cashier said rudely 'I am the manager!" Horible service. If you have kids they will make you feel like garbage. Worst experience I've ever had at a hope chest and will NOT be going back.

I've been here several times and each and every time I was greeted with a smile, didn't have anyone hovering over my shoulder, and when I was ready to check out the clerk is always so sweet.If you like to bargain Hunt is say this would be a good place to add to your list.

If your bored and want to kill sometime trying to find something unique or off the wall this is your place. The employees are what make this place super cool they are very generous with being polite and down to earth which isn't common in today's standards and all are beautiful in there own way especially this employee with long straight Black hair that wears addidas , etc.. 🔥 and hella nice!!

A friend of mine and I are dressing up for a convention and the cheapest I found for the clothes I wanted was in the hundreds... until this miracle establishment. I am a plus size lady, and finding clothes is usually hard for me. I walked in about fifteen minutes ago and I just left with EXACTLY what I was looking for - for $10! (I also got a Nerf Modulus blaster for $2.) The women working the store were polite (a bit timid, but still kind) and were pleasant as we finished our purchase. My husband and I donate things here often enough and it is good to know they are going to a great place! You bet I will be coming here again!

Donate to the Hope Chest quite often , it seems lately they don't want second hand items , my thoughts say they want new items . We will find somewhere else to take our things , where they appreciate gently used quality things . Maybe the guys taking the donated items just don't want to work .....

I went last minute Halloween costume shopping for my brother and found a great iron man costume and a toy glove. We paid $4 in total! That was so much better than buying one from Party City for $30.

Senior discount 20℅ on Tues! Friendly service and if I call in advance they try to get a lot of the diapers and bed pads held for me. Best prices of the 3 Hope Chests in the Modesto area

Great selection with great prices. The lady at the register gave me a discount just because and they have Monday madness where you pick a random piece of paper out ofbowl with a discount on it! So creative!

Hands down my favorite thrift store in Modesto. The staff here is always super friendly, the store is always clean including the restroom. Prices are great as well as selection of merchandise.

Not sure how this has such high ratings. Maybe the housewares are nice? I went through all of the women's clothes looking for jeans and tops, didn t find a thing to try on. Low quality clothes, very poorly organized, sizes and styles all mixed together.

Sometimes they price things a little high for a thrift store but I like the Hope Chest chain in general. Employees vary from really nice to kind of rude. Luck of the draw I guess. Ill give 4 stars because there's no half stars rounding up.

Went today to donate some clothes that belong to my husband who recently past away. They were 80 clean Western, dress, & casual shirts. Along with some comforters and household nic nac and they refused all of it, he said he didn't take dirty and/or smelly stuff. Are you serious. It was all clean.

Actually I understand its non profit organization. But OMGoodness- the prices for USED- DONATED - SOME THINGS ARE EVEN LITTLE BROKEN, TORN, STAINED OR DEEPLY FADED and their prices are ridiculously HIGH.!! I bought a dress there brand new with tags. Not a designer name and paid $8 when i got home, i saw it had a Ross Clearance tag for $6. Are you kidding me? I coulda went to Ross and SAVED $2. 😡😱

Every thing in this place is Over Priced.... They are charging Price's as if the stuff is New... Everything in this place is Donated... They should charge a decent price. To get rid of things... Mostly everything in here is Basic Junk.. That people couldnt sell at a yard sale... So instead of taking it and throwing it away... They take there....

Personally I don't understand how some (as this one) thrift store can sell like a pair of jeans for 20$ 25$ when they are given to them or like many items throughout the store as well as customer service I have had was not good when there last week I said I would never be back due to the customer service at the check out...no reason for it the store was very slow two people in line no stress quiet but steady business

Worse place ever they fired a lady for giving discounts to people when they get everything donated and they are picky with wat you donate and they over price everything never donating here again I please recommend please to donate elsewhere thank you 🙏🏼
