Overpriced. The rooms have been remodeled (yet no usb power ports) and that’s why they call it a “resort” (and charge a resort fee) about it, everything else screams cheap motel: low water pressure in the shower, super-thin toilet paper. There is a small uninviting pool and hot tub, sauna and steam room, that we did not try. The patio could use some fire pits, as-is it’s very dull. It’s about a mile from downtown, walkable, though no sidewalks for the first part. Also: at check-in we were given the key to an occupied room and took a while to set that straight. I would not recommend.

Nice clean large rooms. The problem began with a television that didn't work. I'm from Florida and used to getting up early. With the 3 hour time difference I was up at 230am and couldn't get back to sleep. So I thought I would watch the morning news. Television didn't work so I laid there for nearly 4 hours waiting till I could go out for breakfast. I called the office about 630 am and the phone was answered with a recorded message and contact number for the night manager. No one answered so I called the office again received same recorded message and given an option to leave a message. Tried that and it was a non functioning number.

The hotel is close to downtown, the rooms are very modern and nice. The pools are dated and need much better care. Chlorine levels in the water are excessive, so couldn't enjoy the sensation of soaking in mineral hot spring water, instead got out with dry skin and red eyes. The dry sauna was not hot at all, but the steam bath worked, although it didn't smell too great.Rooms: Very comfortable and clean. Good mattresses and nice bathrooms.Walkability: It's up the road from downtown, about 10 minutes walk. for a stretch of the road, there's no sidewalks, so you'll have to walk on the "muddy" side of a pretty busy street.Noteworthy details: The pool and hot tub are heated with hot spring mineral water, however there's so much chlorine in the water that it is very hard to enjoy the benefits of the mineral water, as the skin drys out quickly because of the excessive chlorine. We've been to a few more hot spring pools in Calistoga, and this was not one of the good ones

Pro tip 1: HOSPITALITY means to BE hospitable to guests. It is nonexistent at this place. The employees are socially inept & flat out RUDE. 2: When you advertise a HOT spring, make sure it's HOT, not COLD; Especially right at check-in. What a concept! Also, why have a little itty bitty tub for the SOURCE WATER? Fill the pool (it's not big either) with it! 3: Turn up the Sauna at 3:30pm, before guests check in at 4:00! Everything was COLD when we arrived at about 5.00. No HOT tub (it was literally tepid), cold sauna, luke warm steam room. Front desk was totally unconcerned except to say, "turn it on". Isn't that HER job for paying guests, before arriving? Yeah-. We stayed in 2023 & it was a little better, as it was newer. The rooms sure don't get cleaned well nor maintained well, & it shows. Bring slippers; your socks will be ruined walking on the filthy flooring. Beds are like sleeping on a cardboard mattress. Pillow cases stunk like they had not been changed prior. Check out at 11 is also stiff, it would be nice to soak in the a.m. (of course if the Staff would be so kind to turn on the HEAT in the facilities or make sure they're on, in the early morning) An extra hour would help make that POSSIBLE, but not here! They just open the room door at 11:04, as you're pulling up your pants trying to scurry out as is. Such a dissatisfying stay on Valentine's Day. Thumbs down all the way. I seriously want a refund.

I have actually stayed here twice before & LOVED it. Once with a friend, & once myself. I have even written a glowing review when I stayed before. Sadly, this time has been an AWFUL experience-- a long story of awful where I run out of word count. The reason I am even giving it 2 stars & not 1 is because of the kindness of the team on the second shift who did their best to try to help multiple bad situations, the fact that I REALLY appreciate this hotel has a filtered water station, reusable cups & mugs instead of disposables & plastic, & that I come here in large part because this hotel has a steam sauna which I also SO need & appreciate. Now on to the terrible parts. The woman working the front desk was very pleasant & helpful when I first arrived. However, when I got to my room (which by the way is one of the more expensive rooms) the wifi was reaching only 2 bars & then dropping to 1. I tried both on my phone & my computer to no avail. When I walked down the steps, to the courtyard area, the wifi IMMEDIATELY jumped to FULL strength. I unfortunately had a ZOOM meeting that I had to join soon, so I went back to the front desk & told her of my issue & that I was going to unfortunately have to do my meeting in my vehicle because cell signal was also much too low in the back room they had me in & asked if she could please have the wi-fi looked at while I was in my meeting. She replied that "He was just back there & it was fine." Which made no sense to me. However, I remained polite & calm & replied in a very nice tone, "Well, I did try both my phone & my computer. My phone could get no wi-fi at all, & my computer could only get 2 bars at most & it kept dropping to 1, which is not enough for a ZOOM meeting & I have another one this evening, so would you please have him go into my actual room & check it for me?" I also explained to her about what happened as soon as I reached the courtyard vs. my room. She just looked at me & nodded. I knew right then nothing was going to happen. When I was done with my meeting, I went back to room & sure enough, nothing had changed. I went to the front desk to explain my predicament & it was a new person working. Because I come from the service industry for over 10 years, I knew what had happened. Shift change. The previous woman could not be bothered with me. The new person working at the front desk & the manager then worked to solve the issue for me & were incredibly kind. There, apparently, was not another room available in the price point I had paid. I told them I did not mind to downgrade vs. having an hour & half ZOOM meeting in my car starting at night. They found me the room & as I went up to it, there was a child SCREAMING, throwing a VERY loud temper tantrum. I went back down to the front desk & told them that I was soooo very sorry. That I can not stand being THAT person, but that staying right next to a toddler who is literally screaming at the top of their lungs is more than I can bear. Again, they were so very kind & found me another room. Sadly for me, it was an awful downgrade as it's on the bottom floor which means I am listening to feet tromping above me much of the night as they walk on the walkway above me back & forth as well as the room above me. I normally NEVER stay on bottom floors for this very reason. But apparently it was the only option left, all because the first woman working the front desk could not be bothered with having maintence actually go INTO my room to see that indeed wifi was completely different then down the stairs. I changed into my bathing suit & robe and went to the steam room & refocused my thoughts onto how grateful I was to be in there relaxing. When I got back to my room, I realized I had left my toiletries in my car. I love that they have bulk products here as I refuse to use wasteful small items at most hotels, so I decided not to go through the trouble of going back & forth from my vehicle. While in the shower, some of the shampoo got into my eye, and it immediately felt like it got lit on fire. Hurt for hours. BTW my birthday.

Rooms are remodeled, clean and reasonably well designed, ours was missing a bulb in the bedside lamps, the fridge in the room isn’t covered and the light illuminated the room and in blue light until we covered it up. The grounds however seems shabby and rundown, all of the pool coping is damaged and dirty looking. The thermal poolIs lukewarm, and the hot tub is nearly cold. The steam room is nice, but the dry sauna takes forever to heat up. The water pressure in the showers is non-existent.

What we like most:Room: Eco-friendly, reusable in-room real cups and glasses, bottled shampoo/body-wash, very comfortable beddings, walk-in shower stall, robes & plush towels, bright & ample lightning, Star-bucks pods, Keurig coffe machine, our balcony overlooking the open-field facing the mountain, thanks much to Dusdee who upgraded us to this second-floor #220 room (27Nov2023 night)Public area: serene understated design and vibe throughout Upvalley Inn premise, even the birds are chirping happily in and out of the trees in their inner courtyard, starbuck machine in the front office, brilliant water machine, open-space geothermal whirlpool & pool, steam saunaSomething to consider for the management:Some white in-room cups instead of black so the cleaners can see when they're dirty (ours have crusted coffee stain).Maintain the whirlpool, now only 2 out of 5 are functioningWe had one of the after-Thanksgiving great Choice member only promotional pricing, we certainly would come back and enjoy stay in UpValley Inn Calistoga on our next trip.Thank you!

We felt very comfortable in the hotel. The spa area was super cool, but the pool should possibly be renovated. The location is also great, because in 5-10 minutes walk you are in the middle of the sweet town, where there are many great stores and bars. The rooms were also very clean and modern / cozy.

Loved it here! The receptionist was so friendly and let us check in 4 hours earlier as the room was already ready. The whole property and room was clean and tastefully furnished. A highlight was the pool and hot tub with mineral water from the hot springs and the sauna and steam room. It is absolut worth booking it ☺️

Great location. Pricey for a mediocre remodeled motel, but expected for the area. We had a great trip until they mistakenly charged an extra night. The reason given was because we left personal items there? Impossible, as my husband and I were in charge of checking the rooms. And manager didn't return my sister's phone calls, so others in the party helped try as well with no success. Just be careful with the charges as it took her to write a review for any response back from Dusdee, the manager, after trying for 3+ days.Walkability: Close to Calistoga city.

Ever walked into a place and felt like you were walking into a private equity spreadsheet? This hotel is a standing example of a cheap investment. If you have the chance, book at the Calistoga Spa Hot Springs. MUCH better hotel for the same price. The staff was scripted and good at telling you no to simple requests.Overall, the place needed a good power washing and paint job. The furniture in the room is super awkward.I would simply tell my friends, do not stay here.

Nicely renovated rooms. Friendly staff. Very reasonable rates. Not walkable inmho unless you are ok with being the only ones walking on the roadside. Driving is easy and parking was to.Walkability: Questionable. Could be done but it’s obvious locals don’t walk.

Nice hotel with very friendly & helpful staff. Lots of outdoor space to hangout. Newly remodeled & clean. Sadly the lobby coffee machine was out of order, to-go coffee cups were only in the lobby so we would pick up a cup for the next day to take our coffee to go to town. They will clean your room upon request the night before. However they hadn't come to the room by the afternoon, so we went to the front desk to get fresh towels & such from the front. Which wasn't a big deal, just an inconvenience. Loved how clean it was. It's on the edge of town which is nice to away from all the noise.

Posted a review on Tripadvisor about the $5 "hotel service fee". Dusdee (the manager?) responded, asking that I email our reservation info to him so he could adjust our account. I did. Email was undeliverable with this message: "Your message wasn't delivered because the recipient's mailbox is undergoing maintenance and can't accept messages now."To his credit, the manager subsequently refunded the "hotel service fee". I upgraded my review to four stars.

This was our first visit to beautiful Calistoga. We enjoyed our stay here very much. We felt very welcomed and it was super clean. I loved the deck where I could sip my coffee (free Starbucks from the lobby) and listen to the birds chirping. We loved the natural spring pool and hot tub. We tried the sauna, too. There is a shuttle that you can call to bring you around town. There's lots of great places to eat downtown so the shuttle was very convenient. We will definitely stay here again when we visit again!

Wonderful stay, front desk staff are amazing and super accommodating, hotel is in great shape and is a perfect value! The outdoor space is perfect for coming back and sharing a bottle of wine. The room was so nice-robes, great lotion, and a perfect shower. We called for towels and had them within 10 seconds. Would recommend this place! Perfect distance from restaurants and bars, especially right near sams social club which makes for a great night out.

This was a lovely little place to stay for the weekend. We spent a few nights, and the staff was very helpful. Every time we asked for something, they did everything they could. The room was nice and well kept while we were there. Very minor things we're off. The hot tub was not working well. The TV doesn't allow input changes, so no fire stick or plugging you laptop in. Overall a sweet location close to lots of wonderful food and entertainment close to Napa.

We were overall very happy staying at this hotel. It is just outside of downtown, yet close enough to walk.It has a nice warm pool and a deliciously hot hot tub.The lobby has a machine for coffee, hot water (and there are tea bags), and hot chocolate. The staff was friendly.Unfortunately, the air conditioner in the room was really too loud and some litter on the premises, including some cigarette butts in this supposedly non-smoking facility.
