We had an absolutely wonderful weekend at the Francis House. The property has the feel of an intimate luxurious chateau and the pool and grounds are beautiful. The rooms are filled with antiques and have lovely marble bathrooms. It is also a short walk to shops and restaurants. What makes the stay more amazing is the incredible hospitality and warmth of the hosts who run it. Rich and Dina go above and beyond to make sure that all your needs are taken care of. Dina’s breakfasts are delicious and feel more like an elevated fine dining experience. I am a vegetarian and the breakfasts I had at the Francis House were probably one of the best ones I’ve had😋 I can’t recommend this place enough and we will definitely be back

The Francis house is a gem in Calistoga. The Hosts Richard and Dina are wonderful in taking care of their guests. They accommodated our dietary restrictions and meticulously planned our breakfast every morning during our stay. The B&B has amazing amenities including a pool, tennis court, sauna room and you can also book a massage. This is definitely one of the finest places to stay in Calistoga. There are really good restaurants in a walkable distance. Richard and Dina helped us with all the information and made sure that our stay was comfortable and memorable one. Can’t wait to go back there again.Rooms: Wonderful interior designs and comfortable amenities.Nearby activities: Most of the places are accessible by drive. There is a petrified forest hike within 10 mins from this place. Safari west is another option which is also about 15 min drive from this place.Safety: It’s a very safe B&B with automated gates. Lots of privacy around the house.Food & drinks: The hosts Richard and Dina offered a well curated and well Plated breakfast everyday during our stay based on our dietary restrictions. Richard makes the most amazing cappuccinos.

To say our stay was incredible is an understatement. The property is a unique one like no other, beautiful finishings and little touches that really enhance your stay. My wife and I celebrated her birthday in Calistoga, and we are very happy that we stayed with Dina and Rich at the Francis House. They are very gracious hosts, and have beautifully restored the property. They know the local wineries very well and made some great recommendations for tastings. Their restaurant recommendations were spot on as well. We really enjoyed the gourmet breakfasts they served! We definitely have to return when the weather is warmer so we can play some tennis and hang out at the pool! Highly recommend any time of year!!

Francis hotel is a beautiful home set smack dab in the middle of charming Calistoga wine country. The small hotel is like stepping into a forgotten time. It has a beautiful European feel and when you step inside it is like staying in a luxury French chateau. The owners Richard and Dina have done an excellent job of renovating this landmark from the ground up. They have taken a home that sat empty for 52 years and have returned it to a thing of beauty. No expense has been spared on the rooms, and they are absolutely lovely. The bedroom was filled with lovely antiques and modern touches. Everything from the linens in the bed to the Toto toilet and bidet in the bathroom were top of the line.The hosts, the Dwyers were so delightful, helpful and made a delicious breakfast each morning. This hotel is more like staying at a friend’s home than a cold hotel. We so enjoyed meeting the other guests at breakfast and sharing tips about Napa. We will definitely stay here again!Rooms: Rooms were luxurious, from the high quality linens to the well appointed bathroom

A truly unique experience as it feels like you are staying with close friends. Richard met us in the driveway and offered to help with our luggage as he welcome us to his home. He then ushered us into the stately manor and gave us an engaging tour highlighting some of the unique history of the 1886 home. Each detail of the home has been intricately designed and the decor is timeless and tasteful. The grounds, likewise, are well appointed with landscaping that matches the feel & time period of the house as well as provides privacy and interesting vignettes. No detail is overlooked from the Dyson hairdryer to the Miele coffee station with sweet treats to the Aesop line bath products- everything is quite posh. Dina’s delightful breakfasts were always a surprising & unique creation which left us all perfectly satiated as the portions were just right. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Francis House with our new friends Richard & Dina!

What an incredible place! The Francis House combines all the atmosphere and amenities of a luxury hotel with a relaxed and welcoming California feel. The rooms are beautiful and modern, but set in this historic location. The patio, pool, and tennis courts are beautifully maintained and were a great place to hang out. Dina and Richard are absolutely lovely. They made incredible breakfasts, had great local recommendations to share, and cultivated a very friendly and communal environment. It truly felt like we had found a hidden gem and we hope to visit again!

I have stayed here twice now - once with my spouse and once with girlfriends. It is a lovely, charming location. Richard and Dina are fabulous hosts and the entire experience is so unique to the Napa region. Please go! The best B&B we have ever stayed in by far. Rooms and decor are comfortable and modern while still retaining traditional elements of the historic home. Lots of private outdoor space that we enjoyed relaxing in during our stay. Richard and Dina are excellent hosts and make everyone feel right at home.Breakfast is an event. The food is always delicious and comes with great conversation around the fire pit while everyone sips morning coffee. We look forward to returning soon.

This is a special place run by special people. Our stay was nothing short of amazing at the The Francis house. The exterior is absolutely breathtaking, and the interior is elegantly decorated. There’s a lot of detail all around this property; very fine well thought through touches. Dina and Richard are amazing hosts. They’re warm, welcoming, and attentive. Breakfast here is among the highlights of our trip. Rooms arebeautiful and beds are very comfy. The grounds all around the house are also a big part of what makes this place so special. Thank you Dina and Richard ! What a wonderful and relaxing stay. The pool house was comfy, quiet and so charming. The entire property is immaculate and you don’t want to miss breakfast. We also enjoyed taking a stroll into downtown Calistoga with all of the shops restaurants and cafes. Fantastic hotel and the hosts, Richard and Dina are all you need during your trip to Napa. We stayed at the Francis House for three nights and only wished we could stay longer. The hotel is grand, clean, luxurious and well located. Amenities include freshly cooked breakfasts, tennis court, sauna. Nothing but 5 stars for this wonderful place!

We found this lovely bed and breakfast after watching an episode of Bespoke Inns on Magnolia Network. To say that it surpassed our expectations would be an understatement. Our stay at Francis House was one of our most pleasurable travel experiences ever and I would highly recommend staying here to anyone who has the opportunity. Rich and Dina are amazing hosts (breakfast is incredible) and incredibly nice people. There are a number of accommodation options in Calistoga and I cannot imagine any of them are as luxiorious or comfortable as Francis House. My wife and I hope to return there as soon as we can fit it into our schedule.

My husband planned a weekend to Calistoga, and our accommodations for the weekend was The Francis House. Our stay has to be one of our top most memorable and favorite experiences we have had. The personal touches from Dina and Richard were truly unparalleled. From a personal greeting, to a fresh cooked breakfast in the morning. Everything about Francis House is deliberate and beautiful. We played tennis, enjoyed the sauna, the fire pit and the grounds. Now we can’t wait to come back in summer and enjoy the pool and book a massage. Well worth the money, for a luxurious and unique experience.

It’s rare I come back from a trip and wish we had more time at the property we stayed at, but that’s exactly how we felt after staying at The Francis House. The rooms were well appointed, the home was beautiful, the outdoor grounds were awesome with the pool and turf tennis courts as well. First class all the way. The property is as pretty as it looks in the pictures. Rooms are beautifully designed and impeccably clean. We went in December so we weren’t really able to utilize the pool and tennis court but I can only imagine how fantastic it would be in warmer weather. And, what really puts The Francis over the top are the wonderful hosts and owners Dina and Rich. So gracious, so charming. Dina hooked us up with last-minute dinner with one of the Valley’s top winemakers — actual dinner with her, not just your run-of-the-mill wine tasting. And all the raves about Dina’s breakfasts are 100% true. Staying here is like having super fabulous friends who invited you to spend the weekend at their chateau.Know that the owners live in the house themselves so this place is a true bed-and-breakfast but quite possibly the most luxurious you’ll ever find. If your concept of luxury involves pool boys bringing you cocktails or a breakfast buffet every morning this is not the place for you. But if you want a low-key, elegantly civilized escape then come to The Francis House. We won’t stay anywhere else in the Valley.

This boutique hotel is a gem! My husband and I love Paris and when I found this online, I had to experience it. Dina and Richard the best hosts. Francis House is exactly as described. The place is immaculate and every detail is apparent. The history of FH is fascinating. You need to book to hear all about it. 😉The guests are served daily breakfast, (and not just any breakfast), by the one and only, Dina. The “Michelin-⭐️” worthy meals are to be devoured for. Richard shared many stories about the local wineries and we were able to get a few tastings in the most sought after boutique wineries. We also met a lovely couple during our stay and exchanged contact information.We plan to return with more couples and our kids, to book the whole 8-BD! If you are planning to visit Napa Valley, do not fall into the trap of focusing your visit just on the city of Napa. The true charm and beauty of the region lies in the vineyards and small towns that dot the valley to the northwest. You would be remiss to overlook the city of Calistoga, a small town of about five thousand residents nestled in the valley 30 miles northwest of the city of Napa. The people of Calistoga exude the enthusiasm and appreciation for the valley’s rich history of winemaking and its natural beauty. The couple most eager to share this with you are Richard and Dina Dwyer, owners and innkeepers of the Francis House. My wife and I spent four nights here in March 2023, which was our first visit to the region. While we unfortunately did not have the pleasure of meeting Dina, her background as an interior designer and eye for tasteful, classic, and chic décor can be felt throughout the home and contributes to its charm. Richard, whom we did get to share our stay with, makes his background as a custom homebuilder felt in the breathtaking design and layout of the home and the property it sits on. But what will make us cherish our time at the Francis House more than the beauty of the property, first class service, wonderful amenities and fresh and delicious food is the time my wife and I got to spend with Richard and his staff. His friendly, warm, and hospitable ways plus his passion and appreciation for the history of the property and Napa Valley are what defines the Francis House’s most endearing quality, its character.

Can't say enough good things about the Francis House. If you're looking for a different experience than the traditional hotel (even high end one), you should seriously consider it. A unique place with so much history that has been re-imagined with love by Richard and Dina, the hosts. And the result is absolutely spectacular - you feel as if you're spending a weekend at a French Chateau. Every detail has been thought out and carefully planned. Richard and Dina are gracious, welcoming and warm hosts who work around the clock to make you feel welcomed and relaxed. Enjoyed getting to know them as much as we've enjoyed staying at their house. Absolutely stunning. Everything you are reading in other reviews is true. My husband and I stayed at the Francis House for a few nights and are so thankful we stumbled upon it! Richard & Dina are fantastic hosts! Your stay can be as private or social as you wish. Dina's breakfast is delicious. The house itself is beautiful with high end finishing touches and is solid construction - our fear of staying at B&Bs is that you hear everyone else... not at the Francis house! Dina & Richard are very well connect in the area so if you need recommendations, they can definitely share! We can't wait to return!

Dina and Richard were warm and accommodating hosts. The property was spectacular in every way, including the delicious breakfast to start each day. Before you even arrive Dina and Richard will make you feel welcome and anxious to arrive. We walked in the door and Dina greeted us and introduced us to Richard. Dina brought us some amazing wine to enjoy while Richard gave us a tour of the property along with some history of the house and grounds.We booked the pool house suite and it was spectacular! Super comfortable living area for watching tv and the bedding was amazingly inviting. Dina and Richard have furnished the space with very nice pieces and the bathroom was out of Architectural Digest. The pool area was beautiful and we had the place to our selves.We ate in town the first night at a Mexican restaurant that was very good but the second night Richard made a suggestion that was beyond expectation. Each morning the breakfast was substantial and delicious, we enjoyed everything.Dina booked us massages on the 4th that were on par with some of the better spas we've been to. I felt like I had melted off several years of stress when we were finished.Francis House is an experience, it's not just a B and B. We can't say enough about the two night we spent with them, it was the experience you look forward to booking again.

This was our return visit to The Francis House and it continues to bless us with great hospitality and a wonderful luxury of an historic mansion of old world craftsmanship with all the best conveniences and finishes.
