This Calistoga Museum has great local history to learn about. Sharpteen was a renowned illustrator for Walt Disney. The exhibitions are fascinating and highlight the development and famous characters in Calistoga history.

Got an impromptu tour from Lorne which made our visit quite enjoyable. He gave us an informative yet humourous overview of the Sharpsteen's and the town. The museum has some interesting artifacts and stories displayed. Its fairly small so it makes for a fun little side trip.

Incredible collection of original Disney work and great history of the area. The volunteer docents are truly helpful and the price of the museum makes it all that much more special. (It is free.) Check it out if you are in town. we visit the area every year but didn't know about it before this time. We will be back for sure to learn more about the fascinating history of this historic location.

What a cool place for kids and adults! We loved that it has ties to the original Disney gang. Mr. Sharpsteen sure was a talented and fascinating man. My personal museum favorite was the walk through area of house rooms from the 1800's. It is rare to get that close to great quality antiques. My children loved the exhibit where you can watch the train go around the town for $0.25. We're very glad we stopped in and also took time to shop in their reasonably priced gift shop and chat with the friendly and informative staff. Highly recommended!

One of the better local museums you will ever visit. Very professionally laid out. Super friendly docent. The museum is free, although you are encouraged to give a suggested donation of $3. I really enjoyed my visit and I highly recommend this museum to learn about the history of the area.

So much dedication and hard work to preserve the history of Calistoga and Sharpsteen's life. Did not expect the immediate display of Disney history. The design of the museum alone reminded me of Disneylands frontier land. The volunteers are very helpful and explain additional information about the local history. Also if you happen to visit Calistoga on a very hot week, consider stopping by, museum is free and the AC runs strong inside 😁

Wonderful little museum with lots of dioramas of early Calistoga, artifacts of the gold rush era and of the trek west by settlers who became part of the history of early California. Entirely staffed by volunteers and open 7 days a week almost all year. Great place for young and young at heart!

A three dollar donation transports you to the past with great dioramas, paintings, and infographics. An inexpensive and fun way to spend an hour learning about the area history. You even get a little bit of Disney history as the founder of the museum was a former animator.

This local museum is a delight. Always worthy of a visit and learning local stories but particularly rewarding on a hot summer day to take a cooling break and visit some history. Make a donation at the entrance and support local history.

Classic small town museum. Charming setting next to Farmers Market. Some exhibits seem more worthy than others but then that can be what's ketch about small-town museums. Worth checking out in a laid back frame of mind.

Definitely a must see! A hidden gem! Doesn't look like much from the outside and kind of off road from main street. But much larger inside. The museum features from the Wappo Native Indians to the history of Calistoga. One of the main attractions is the works of Sharpsteen himself with wife. He did drawings for Walt Disney. Featured also the life and work of Sam Brannan. Wonder where the name Calistoga comes from? Here you find the answer and more. What a ice surprise this was.
