Accommodation was nice. People were nice. They have 3 pool areas and maintained pretty good, too.But spa,,, we tried volcanic ash mud bath and surprisingly half right side was warm but the other half was cold, and the lady in the front desk seemed like she didn't want to be there.

Hotel staff is great and location is great if you want to walk downtown. I would never come back for the spa. Spa offers the special mud bath which we saw online that looked very nice and relaxing. Once we got to our appointment for the mud bath I got so grossed out as you can see in the photo above it literally looks like a dungeon, or somewhere where they kidnap you and take you here. They charge 200 dollars per person to go in this disgusting room. NEVER AGAIN.

We'd used Roman Spa's spa service before and were excited for a likewise high caliber stay. However everything proved a disappointment. First, this is NOT a Resort, and certainly not worth the $350/price tag (plus cost of renting your own robe!) They claim they're in the process of renovating but we saw no sign of it other than possibly the beds. The carpets (edit: brown, floral 70's style) were worn, set off my dust allergies and smelled questionable, and in-room coffee was cheap and gross with a likewise dated coffee maker. Rooms had no sound insulation from guests outside. The pool area was very attractive but unpredictable - the small "hot tub" Jacuzzi was often cooler than the main outdoor pool and the jets only last 5 minutes (plus, as mentioned, they charge you extra for ROBES ) Also the front desk laughed at my wife when she tried to get late checkout, extremely disturbing and unprofessional. We visit Calistoga monthly and really wanted to like this venue with the attractive pools and great location, but it left such a terrible taste in our mouths that we'll literally stay anywhere else - and be finding a new spa, too.Edit: Not sure who this passive-agressive response is addressing since that's not my name, but this is an accurate review of my experience in the room they put me in. Maybe there's nicer rooms, but we didn't see them, and we were certainly charged full price for quality I'd expect in a $150/night accommodationRooms: Extremely dated, gross carpet, no desk OR table. Bathroom fixtures 20 + years old. No robes included. Beds were nice enough though.

The room was old (motel 6 like). The faucet leaked and the toilet ran non stop. The grounds were well kept. The pool was warm 98° not what you would expect for a hot springs. When we arrived for check in we were told our room was ready. We said great, we’ve had a long day and would like to relax. We were then told that we were an hour and a half early and would have to pay an extra $30 for early check in…really for what you charge a night (over $500)!!! We’ll never stay here again!!!Nearby activities: Gang activity at night “NOT GREAT” A lot of loud rap music at 3:30AMSafety: Wouldn’t walk without a GUNNoteworthy details: Loud at night cars rap music…But nice convent Market close. If you want to walk by humane haste on sidewalk.

Too expensive for what you get. You check in at 3:00 and check out at 11:00 a.m. and in the 20 hours you are there if they have the pool closed from noon until 5:00 you are screwed. That happened both on the day we arrived and the day we checked out. Plus I had seven guests total in two rooms for my birthday and they forgot the champagne. Nice people and some of what happened with certainly out of control of the front desk. Maybe you will have better luck than I did in October of 23.THANK YOU for the reply, but per my phone, I got notified on Oct 14th (not 3 weeks prior) and could not reschedule this time. At least you are all very nice people and everyone was polite; circumstances sometime intervene.

I had email and phone conversation with the manager, I was excited about coming for our 20th anniversary he said there were no packages available, but would give us a complimentary bottle of champagne. When we arrived we were not acknowledged for our anniversary " a little sad", I thought maybe they would have surprised us by leaving it in the room. No not in the room. The next day I thought the same but we were forgotten, I did send a email to let him know that we didn't receive it when we were still there, But no response still to till this day. The morning of our anniversary l ran the jacuzzi in our room only to find out we didn't have hot water, I got a room with the jacuzzi because the pools aren't open till 9am. I was told all the hot water was routed to the mineral pools. I decided to get the Splendido Suite with JACUZZI® Tub because it was our 20th anniversary. The reviews for the basic rooms said the beds are weren't comfortable, well I was very surprised that the bed for the Splendido Suite with JACUZZI® Tub was very hard. This was a very special trip for us and I thought for $1,042.00 for 2 nights I thought it would be special.

Massages were nice, but the facilities are tired and need updates. We also received add onfees that were not disclosed or published.

We stayed at Roman Spa two days in late April. The location is perfect, we never got in our car until the day we left. There are plenty of great places to eat just a few steps away so it's very convenient. We also loved the landscaping around the resort grounds. We were just in time to see all the beautiful tulips in bloom and it was something special. The rooms are outdated and nothing special but we knew that before we went and still had a good stay. It was clean and functional, no problem. We came for the mineral pools though and enjoyed them very much. I liked that the pools closed at 10pm so there wasn't any loud noise at night. It was a relaxing getaway and we'll be back!

I've been coming here literally since I was a kid (but I wouldn't bring a kid here.) This is a lovely place to relax. The rooms are honestly nothing special, but they're clean, comfortable, and the beds are comfy, too. I love the kitchenette option - it's definitely worth it to get a kitchenette. The booking system is old school, but that's fine with me.(I do miss the little waterfall pond - it was really relaxing to behold - but they ripped it out for a seating section that I've never seen anyone utilize. I hope they put it back in.)Safety: Calistoga is a very safe town.Walkability: Everything you need is within walking distance.

Great hotel for a relaxing weekend or mid week getaway. The pools are so relaxing day or night. There is plenty of parking and the hotel is a 2 minute walk from Calistoga's main street. We had a mud bath, which I have always wanted to try! It was so relaxing. I recommend upgrading your room to either the room with the jacuzzi & fire or the deluxe room. All staff were so friendly and helpful. Thanks for hosting us!

The staff was awesome. There was a small maintenance issue when my wife and I had our mud bath scheduled. They swiftly took care of the issue, which never effected us just pushed our start time. The offered a free mud face scrub, but we declined it. The whole experience was great. The message was awesome. They definitely earned their good tip from us. Thank you Roman spa staff.

A Calistoga Oasis. I came here for a getaway with my daughter, in August . The gardens and the pools were heavenly. The flowers were blooming, there were butterflies & hummingbirds everywhere and the waters in the pools were perfect. It was as relaxing as we’d hoped. In the room, the bed was comfortable & the linens were nice and it was impeccably clean. I will say the furniture and decor were dated, but in very good condition. It had everything we needed-even a kitchenette. If you don’t require the most modern decor and want a clean, comfortable place to stay- come here.It is a family run business and you aren’t there to stay in the room...enjoy the spa, gardens and best of all the therapeutic pools. You will be glad you did.

I've been traveling for a few days now and this is the first place I've stayed that has been truly quiet. You don't hear a peep once you close the door, and the rooms have a lovely feel about them. Very nicely appointed with an extremely comfortable bed and some wonderful touches like bottled natural spring water, an in room coffee maker, and wine glasses for all the wine you will buy while you're here.

This is more of a motel than a spa. The rooms are noisy and there is limited housekeeping. The main pool is small, but nice. It gets a little crowded. The massages we received were ok, but the facility is nothing more than a few rooms next to a parking lot. It is not a spa set-up. They don't offer any amenities outside of a clinical check-in and a massage room. To be clear, the staff is very nice at the "spa", but it is not a spa experience. We were also a little frustrated with the manager, as she wanted to charge us $25 to check in 1 hour early, even though the room was ready. I don't understand that logic. She also refused to allow us a late checkout (12:30). We had 11am massage appointments and wanted to shower before we left the facility. There are no real options on the property to shower and change except your room. The manager was completely inflexible, even though our late checkout would not have affected the cleaning staff's schedule (they were not going to be able to clean all the rooms prior to getting to urs).Net, it is a good last minute hotel if you can't find anything else. We booked last minute and this was all we could find. The rooms are likely cheaper that other resorts in the area. You get what you pay for. However, we won't be returning..

Rooms were clean. The pool and the grounds were very nice, and the massage was good. We liked that it was walking distance to all the shops and restaurants we wanted to go to. The only real issue was the walls seem thin. Would have liked it a little quieter at night. We would probably go back, and don't regret staying there.

Nice hotel in a convenient location. We stayed here for my birthday and it didn't disappoint. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The pools and hot tub are filled with geothermal water and so very relaxing. We book a package and got mud baths, massages and free breakfast at a nearby restaurant. They also put a complimentary bottle of birthday bubbly in our room while we were at the spa.

What a great place to stay. While basically being a converted apartment complex, they really succeeded in turning it into feeling like a villa. The staff was great, and the beds were extremely comfortable. Great location right next to a grocery store. That makes preparing your own meals in the provided kitchenettes and dishes way convenient. Can't wait to stay again.

Got a deal on Groupon for the mud bath/mineral bath/massage. The staff were really nice and helpful. They have an indoor heated pool which felt really nice. The mud bath was boiling hot but my skin felt really nice and exfoliated after. Our attendant checked on us every 10 minutes with cold water and a cold towel. The massage I had was nice pressure but wish he spent more time on the knots in my back. The location is pretty convenient with restaurants and shops nearby.

My husband and I have been staying at the Roman Spa for over 12 years now and look forward to it every single time. The mineral pool is a little piece of heaven and so relaxing! The rooms are clean and well-equipped. The location is ideal and within walking distance of many great restaurants and fun shops. Staff are all friendly and welcoming. Love it!

This resort was sensational. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, we felt comfortable, relaxed and at ease. The property is absolutely stunning with so much greenery and flowers. They have a gorgeous pool, spa area, barbecues for cooking and many places to sit. The rooms are spacious with beautiful decor and the bed was amazingly comfortable. We felt very safe being there during COVID and had so much fun onsite and in the Calistoga downtown area! It really is the perfect resort and location for a getaway to wine country.

First off this was my first time ever at a mineral pool and I was not impressed. The rooms are very out dated and the the mineral pool was not what it was all cracked up to be. It felt just like a regular pool except it was heated. Then when you go to the pool you are not aloud too speak out loud you have to whisper because you have folks above the pool ease dropping on your conversation and turn you in and make a complaint because your friend is deaf and said the unforsakin F-WORD this is the 2022s not the 1900 an. Then I go speak to front desk and they say PROFANITY not aloud. Welll them post that at the pool rules. There are no kids around if there were kids that word would not have been said if you are over 60 plus then this is where u need to stay under 55 should wanna go else where this is as tho I went to a retirement home at a Montessori

The mud bath was relaxing. There was a strong sulphur smell so be prepared for that. The attendant was helpful and brought much needed water. The facility itself is a little on the small side but it is nicely maintained and a great place to go and relax. The massage was a great addition to the mudbath experience.

Nice getaway. We had a great experience. The staff is super friendly and accomadating. The rooms are cozy and very clean, I would definitely recommend a friend. The beds are very comfortable, the spa is lovely. It was our first time taking mud baths and we loved it.
