My husband and I stayed here recently and we loved it. Our cottage was very sweet - when we arrived, our loaner bikes were out front (sadly it was raining and we didn't get to use them) and we had a personalized postcard greeting us when we got inside the room. The king bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed having a fireplace. One thing we liked the most about staying here was that Calistoga is very charming and walkable. We enjoyed strolling through cute shops and eating pizza at the farmers market. We were in town for a wine-tasting event and Cottage Grove Inn was close enough for us to walk there. Our cottage felt very quiet and private - we will definitely stay there again.I didn't give the room a higher rating, because I think the rooms could use some updates. The bathroom needed a little TLC and the decor looked a bit tired. Our bed was very comfortable though and the room was cozy.Rooms: Outside our room was a small sitting area with a fountain. I enjoyed listening to the water feature even when we were inside the room. It was nice to be in a place where we could open the windows. The cottage also had a small porch with chairs and a table where we enjoyed lunch the day we arrived.I didn't give the room a higher rating, because I think the rooms could use some updates. The bathroom needed a little TLC and the decor looked a bit tired. Our bed was very comfortable though and the room was cozy.

My husband and I experience the WORST stay of our lives here. What’s worse is the owners’ refusal to make anything right. Soon after we arrived and were hoping to relax next to the fire, a noxious odor began to infiltrate the cottage. We contacted the innkeeper, who came in and immediately agreed that there was a bad odor coming from the fireplace. She suggested changing to another cottage, which emitted the same noxious odor as the first cottage we were staying in. She said the fireplaces had recently been serviced. We think some harsh chemical was used to clean or service them. The innkeeper suggested that we spend our vacation time finding a cottage that didn’t have a smell, while she attended to other things. That should have been her responsibility. We ended up having leave the windows open all night along in December! We contacted the inn after our stay and they said they acknowledged that there was a foul smelling odor, but said “It's our sincere hope that our offer of a different cottage and the complementary wine will demonstrate our dedication to ensuring your future experiences with us are delightful and stress-free, in line with the visits you've had in the past.” They offered us a cheap bottle of wine to compensate for a cold, stressful, toxic night. The offer for a “different cottage” was no offer at all: we tried another cottage and it was just as foul smelling due to the fireplaces being serviced. And the innkeeper did not assist us with finding another cottage because she was too busy. This place used to be beloved to us. This experience has caused us to do further research in the Cottage Grove Inn business to see if we were not the only ones who has experienced this. We read reviews on various sites. Several guests have left negative reviews recently. Some of these complaints are very alarming, such as non-compliance with ADA rules, faulty smoke and carbon monoxide detectors that required a 911 call and a visit from the fire department, fraudulent credit card charges, poor management, customers feeling they were treated rudely by the manager, and an extreme decline in quality in the last year, charging more and offering less.It appears this business has undergone a change in ownership in the last few years, being purchased from its longtime owners. As returning and longtime customers, we (myself and my husband) feel that we have been disrespected and treated poorly. We hoped that we would be treated with more respect with an offer for a resolution due to this incident. We are reporting this Inn and its owners to the Department of Consumer Affairs and the California Department of Public Health. For your own health and well-being, we advise to stay away from Cottage Grove Inn.

Charming place & location, but interior rooms are in severe need of major upgrades, including mattress, sitting chairs, light fixtures, bathroom and overall decor. I had this place saved for 12 years checking back here and there to make sure reviews were still solid before we finally could make the trip. Somehow the online reviews are not reflective of the conditions. It is my understanding it is under new ownership. We visited for 6 nights and did not sleep well at all. The bed was sagging on both sides, breakfast was cold pound cake next to a tip bowl and there was no evening wine & cheese. Full breakfast and the evening reception were big selling points in the value add of this place and we did not experience either. I want to be transparent with others regarding our experience so they can plan accordingly. We did share the feedback with the Inn, so I hope that they make the necessary changes for the next generation of visitors.

Very disappointing at $400+ a night for multiple nights. Stayed multiple times years prior with free full breakfast and wine & cheese in the evening. Now the breakfast is what looks like Costco mini muffins (which were cold), juice from concentrate and coffee. No more wine and cheese in the evening. Presumably as a cost saving measure, they no longer offer the coffee from the nearby coffee roaster. Coffee wasn’t as good as before. I was informed by staff that there’s a new owner (charges more but delivers much less). Good luck getting extra towels. Also the room was very tired and dated. It looked like it had not been decorated since the 1990’s. Frumpy faded and dated fabrics galore including a fabric covered headboard. Sink fixtures were worn out. I expected much better for $400 a night.

My experience in Calistoga NOV 22 was magical. I swear everyone I encountered was hospitable and nice. Cottage Grove Inn was home base for a couple days and the accommodations were wonderful. The staff, the grounds, the individual private warm and comfortable cottage, the morning coffee/pastries, the one minute walk to breakfast and five minute walk to dwntwn made my experience pleasurable. We stayed in a cottage which had a two person tub, fireplace and comfy king size bed. Parking was in a small driveway adjacent to the cottage-much like home and a nice convenience. The closet was filled with an umbrella, picnic lunch backpack, blue tooth speaker, games and misc conveniences. Keurig coffee maker and fridge inside too. We went elsewhere (Golden Haven) for spa services as were none on site however staff offered to connect me with massage therapists who would come to the room. There’s no reason I’d go anywhere else while in Calistoga unless of course you all take my review seriously and booked all the cottages before I return. Please leave room for me. Cheers y’all

Very cute- perfect location. The staff was very nice! The beds and pillows were comfortable and the fireplace was fantastic. We stayed for two nights and also have a great place to keep clothes or toiletries. If you’re staying for a shorter time then you’ll have no issues.Cottage Grove Inn was very clean as well!!

I had such a wonderful stay at this place. It’s exactly what I think Calistoga is! So many cool little touches at the hotel. Eye masks, candles, extra towels, parking right next to the room, coffee, etc. You can’t beat the location since it’s walkable near everything in town. There are spas around the hotel and some fun places to eat as well as multiple stores. In my opinion, this is way more fun than staying in Napa and Sonoma. Thank you Cottage Inn!

The Cottage Grove Inn was a tremendous experience. From the customer service to the Cottage themselves, there’s absolutely nothing bad I can say!If you’re looking for a romantic getaway with peace and quiet while at the same time being in a great location, the Cottage Grove Inn is the pick. Located in Calistoga, CA, you are within walking distance of the downtown area with many stores, restaurants, and wine bars. The Cottages are all individual, so you have ample privacy throughout your stay. Each cottage features its own parking spot, jacuzzi, and fireplace with a cute deck with chairs to sit outside if you wish to. Breakfast and coffee are served in the main lobby with local pastries and jam. My wife and I traveled here with family, and we all walked away impressed and looking forward to returning.Thank you to the friendly staff who helped us during our stay, and I would highly recommend booking with the Cottage Grove Inn, which you won’t regret. Five stars!

We stayed here with a wedding party. It's an incredible location with georgeous cottages nestled between lovely foliage. The amenities are great and the rooms are homey with comfortable beds. What really stood out was the superb service and care provided by the front desk. I didn't catch the woman's name but she went above and beyond tending to our various needs - from our arrival to departure we felt incredibly welcomed.Highly recommend this place for large groups!

My wife and I stayed here for a couple nights during our honeymoon. We were greeted with a complimentary bottle of champagne and relaxing music playing in our adorable cozy cottage when we arrived! How classy is that!? The place feels like a little oasis tucked away in Calistoga. We loved exploring around town on the cruiser bikes that are available. My one complaint would be the lack of gluten free breakfast options but overall it was a great experience and wish we stayed longer.

Great location in Calistoga and a good distance from the wineries we visited. Inn is pet friendly and Ellen was very accommodating to our requests and answered all questions quickly. The room was very nice - included a pet bed for our dog, welcoming music, and a nice gas fireplace. We look forward to staying here again when we visit the area again in the future.

WOW!!! If you are in love with someone you should definitely bring them here... This was the only place I have ever stayed where whenever my husband and I went out, I couldn't wait to get back to our room. Ellen ❤ was so warm & welcoming! We never had to check in, everything was beautifully waiting for us. My husband and I fell in love with this place.Only downer was it's supposedly a b&b but besides the delicious coffee and coffee cake (which never got delivered on our first morning) you get a 10-15% coupon at local restaurants and coffee shop. Also obviously no smoking in or on the porch but they do have a smoking gazebo.

The cottages are very clean and nicely furnished with a fantastic jacuzzi bath. The bed was super comfy. The wine pairing is great with a small selection of crackers, cheese and meats. The breakfast is also very tasty and you can enjoy it in the breakfast room or take it back to your cottage. The staff was very welcoming and friendly.

My wife & I decided to stay here for our anniversary.First I will start with cons, well because there are no cons; NONE!Pros: Our cottage is the very definition of comfort and relaxation down to the nth detail. Chairs with foot-rest and reading lamp ya just want to melt into, fireplace all set up, nice small kitchenette that even includes different types of wine glasses, there’s even a backpack all set up for a wine/picnic outing! The cottages themselves are located easy walking distance to downtown shops & restaurants.I would not hesitate a second in recommending the Cottage Grove Inn for anyone traveling to Napa Valley. My only regret is that I am three times zones away.Thank you!

We had a wonderful stay here. Cozy cottage in quite area with lots of trees, big room with fireplace and spacious bathroom. It does not look like you average hotel, more like someones house. It was very clean , that's highly important to us, because of dust allergy. Super friendly staff and fantastic breakfast , healthy choices like smoothies, fruits, organic yogurts and many more! Loved everything, will definitely comeback !

Love this place; we've been here about 10 times in 12 years. The cottages are well-appointed and very comfortable, and far enough apart so that you don't feel like your neighbors are encroaching on your space. The hot tubs are delicious and always really clean. There's a very good breakfast available, with a wide selection of food, and a happy hour as well. The staff are always friendly and accommodating, and the rocking chairs on the porch are a lovely touch. Calistoga is a perfect jumping-off point for a day of visiting Napa wineries, and the town is fun, friendly, and not too crowded.

We didn't get to stay here. We booked our room from their site for our 22nd Wedding Anniversary. The next day we get a call saying sorry the online sites over booked and asked if we would reschedule for different days. Of course it has to be a big "No".I am not convinced with their high rated reviews since they can't even keep track the basic professionalism and accountability of their bookings. Please be aware of your bookings it could spoil all your hard work searching and a doubt on highly rated reviews decision. It could happen to you as well. All the best and thank for reading.

The Cottage Grove Inn was the perfect retreat location for a honeymoon. The cottage was the perfect size for our trip (five days). The location is great...right at the edge of town. The staff was courteous and welcoming. Take advantage of the bikes early in the AM. They included bath robes, slippers and even a backpack if you wish to take a hike. Breakfast was yummy. Wine & Cheese was the perfect snack between 5-7pm. If/when we return we will surely stay at Cottage Grove Inn.

Place is cute but it desperately needs to be renovated. I feel like I was transported back to 95’ and not ever touched since.Staff is great, and the cottage has nice privacy but the accommodations are severely lacking and very dated/stale.

Expensive for the quality of the rooms. Perhaps because it is wine country. The rooms were clean. Unit consisted of a bed, sitting area and large bathroom. Overall unit size was quite large. Beds very comfortable. Bathrooms (specifically the showers) were a bit dated. Bathroom products were high quality. Happy hour wine and cheese each night was nice. Breakfast was good.

This place was fantastic. Each cottage is separate so you can’t hear any noise from adjacent cottages. Each cottage is really quaint and full of character. Stayed here for a couple nights and wish we could’ve stayed longer. Great experience.

Amazing retreat! Everything was perfect. The room, amenities, food, setting, and staff. An incredible option for a romantic get away. We really enjoyed the homely cottage feel, luxurious bed, jaquuzzi tub, and quant fireplace. The breakfast and wine reception are super delicious and we loved exploring Calistoga on the complimentary bikes they offered. Can't wait to visit again!

If you're looking for charming and peaceful this is your place. The cottages are very nice and offer all the amenities you need for your stay in the wine country. If for some reason there is something you need it can be found with a short walk down Lincoln street. We like the Cottage Grove in for the quiet location superb staff and it's close proximity to the wineries located on their Silverado Trail. I also really appreciate the private driveway for my vehicle. Over the years the Napa Valley has gotten very busy and can be both overwhelmed with people and expensive. My wife and I had all but given up trips to this area until we found the Cottage Grove Inn. We use Highway 128 and avoid all the traffic on Highway 29. With the yummy breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese pairing you will not be disappointed!

Absolutely perfect stay. Yummy wine and cheese pairings on arrival. Deep, relaxing jacuzzi bath for two with bath salts and L'Occitaine toiletries. Comfortable bedding, fireplace, porch with rocking chairs, and in room refrigerator and Keurig. Robes, bikes and picnic backpack available to borrow. Top it all off with a full breakfast that included options like spinach quiche, Greek yogurt, bagels with premium jams, fresh-made espresso drinks or smoothies, and even having vanilla almond milk, milk, or orange juice available ... we're already planning our trip back. Top-notch customer service. Can't rave enough.

Unfortunately, we didn't get to stay here. We booked our room on booking.com, our trip was to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary. The next day we get a call and email, saying sorry the online sites over booked and asked if we could/would reschedule for different days. That was a firm no. (ummm what did you/they not get about we are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary?) The feeling was they were doing us a favor by refunding our non-refundable 3 night stay that they had to cancel. Fine. Mistakes happen..Then we receive a email meant for someone else with their personal information and reciept for their stay. We call... "oh that was an accident, will you please delete it immediately. " Then another email saying sorry it didn't work out. hopefully you'll stop by and say hi and consider visiting for your anniversary next year.... Then, STRIKE 3 an automated email asking why we canceled our reservation. I can only assume it's adorable and quaint and all of the things the high reviews said. As for us, the lack of professionalism and accountability will assure we won't be finding out for ourselves.

This Oct will make a year and the cottage made such an impression on me that I am still referring patrons 8 months later. The attention to detail is worthy of a 5 star hotel. From the moment we entered on a rainy day to find soothing classical music emanating from the Bose speakers in the ceiling to the carefully handwritten card welcoming me for my birthday next to a carafe of wine and selected fruit and cheeses. The large Jacuzzi tub was beautiful and you didn't have to search for anything. Little cards told you where to look, I will only stay here if I ever go back to Napa
