I decided to surprise my partner with a weekend away in Calistoga for his birthday. We have stayed up here before at another resort a couple years ago and I was looking for something more affordable yet still offering a similar experience. We arrived after dinner on a Friday and stayed through Sunday. The pools, thankfully, were open until 11pm. It was nice to be able to relax after a long work week and drive up from SF.We liked that there was a range of temperatures to soak or swim in. There were plenty of lounge chairs and towels for use.The room was well appointed, comfortable and quite. The location in Calistoga is excellent! Right in the middle of town, set back from Lincoln St, close to restaurants & shops.

3-days, with my SO, first vacation, best experience. Every single person on the staff (front desk, room services, night security -Michael you rule!!, everyone) SO SO SO nice, helpful, direct, and sweet. The pools are great, different temps, different shapes, different vibes, 4 to choose from. We loved dipping into each one for different reasons. The location is PRIME. Everything is walkable. The food around is AMAZING. Everything in Calistoga is a splurge for a common-folk like me, believe me I have some above-average privileges, however I can't do this whenever I want. It was WORTH IT. I've been to Indian springs, this is way more reasonable. Just perfectly a splurge without any regrets on taking a romantic weekend get-a-way.Transparent pricing: $660 for 2-nights with a third night included for free with a special. Did not get any other spa packages, just slept/showered in room, hung out in hot springs/pools.The rooms are nice, everything you need, thoughtful. AC cooling/heat, TV (bring your own laptop for streaming services), fair wifi, microwave/drip coffee/mini fridge/stove top/dishware, shower, comfy bed/pillows. The noise from the outside (especially kids or being near ice machine) was a bit disruptive to me at times; however, kids exist, people want ice, and that's OK. I'm beyond a happy customer. Calistoga is a special place, thank you!

We've vacationed at Calistoga Hot Springs many times over many years, and always thoroughly enjoy our stay. The rooms are so spacious and clean, and we use the kitchenettes to make breakfast, lunch, etc. and eat by the pools. Everything is close by, and the best part for me is the pools, especially soaking in the evenings under the stars.

Edit: management replied that customers complained about a sulphur smell… Sulphur smells like rotten eggs and Chlorine smells like bleach. Those are both completely different smells……..This place felt like a very old motel or apartment complex that turned into a so called "hot springs"..... I've been to a few hot springs at other states and raved to my girlfriends how amazing hot springs are. This was NOT it.The water in the pools reeked of the chlorine. You can even smell it before stepping into the pool. I don't expect much from a hot or natural springs but this was just swimming pools & hot tub dumped with chlorine and never filtered hence the activated chlorine smell from all the urine in the pool... which is not what other hot springs I have been to are like so don't let this place fool you.

The bed was hard and uncomfortable; the website said it has black out blinds, not true; almost $450 a night, will not stay again! The only reason I gave service a 4 star is because of the gal in the mud bath area, she was very attentive and friendly.

The large "lane" pool was dirty. We had to wait for an hour for a large class to finish that was not for residents of the spa hotel and took out of commission the entire lane pool. After the class my wife and my son went for a last swim in the lane pool and the next day got horribly sick with some stomach bug that they are still recovering from 6 days later. The hot "adult only" spa pool has shards of glass on the bottom. I got two tiny barely visible shards stuck in my big toe and it took some skillful work with tweezers to get them out.The rooms are dated and our room had a moldy smell. Very disappointing experience! Not a four-star facility!

This is my first time, and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The pool temperatures, hot, medium, and warm, were great, and even with the stormy, rainy weather it was relaxing. Plan to make this an annual event.Walkability: Downtown calistoga is out the front door.

I did not stay at this hotel, I only visited the spa for their volcanic ash mud bath. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I am someone that frequents spas. I get regular manicures and pedicures, facials, etc. So I am accustomed to spas. What I liked about this experience was the variety of the treatment. It was 10 minutes in the mud bath, 15 minutes in the mineral bath and 5 minutes in the sauna. My skin felt so smooth and clean after it was all done. I felt so relaxed. I had never had a volcanic ash mud bath so that was unique. The mud, which is in a bathtub, is so dense and thick. You have to work your body into it using your own body strength. You can have the experience with two or 4 people at a time. You each would have your own bathtub. But, you will see each in your birthday suit. There is one employee assigned to two people. They make sure you get in and out of the tub safely, set up the rinse off showers for you, give you water, towels, slippers, etc. When I was told, as I was getting in the tub, that I would only be in the volcanic ash for about 10/15 minutes I was disappointed. I thought it would be for most of the 60 minutes spa session. But after being in the mud bath for ten minutes I started to get hot and was ready to come out so the timing was perfect for me. My friend also thought the timing was good. After getting out of the mud bath you go directly into the shower behind the mud bath tubs. It takes a while to rinse off all the mud that goes everywhere and into everything😁. Then we were taken to the mineral bath which was also in a bag tub on the other side of the room. I started to fall asleep I was so relaxed. There is no chlorine in the mineral bath in the spa. The mineral baths in the public areas of the hotel outside of the spa do have chlorine. We finished up our treatment in the sauna. I was satisfied with the length of time we had for the three stages of this spa experience. I left with no regrets. I was very pleased. The cost was about $165 with the gratuity included. You pay in full at the time you book the appointment and they include the gratuity. I would have taken pictures but I put all my belongings in the locker before entering the mud bath room. But, there are pictures you can search for online to give you an idea of what the mud bath looks like.

DO NOT GO HERE- do not waste your time or money!!!!Please read - I regret going here and wish I had read more reviewsI pull up and it’s a run down motel.I go inside the lobby where a frazzled receptionist is the solo employee for the spa check in and hotel check in. She shows me to the locker room, which is right off the entrance. You do not get sandals. There was someone showering when I left in their socks! My appt was at 9 am, right when they open naturally- you’d think my appt be on time. It was not. I get into room and it’s freezing. The massage therapist said she turned off the heat because she was hot. She had on many layers. I was naked for massage and it’s November so it’s cold. The blankets felt like hospital bath blankets, scratchy and uncomfortable. The massage was the worst massage of my life. I receive many massages. This lady is 100% not a massage therapist. Kandy. She dumped so much oil on me and made actual fart sounds on my back in the pool of oil she had on me. At least half a dozen fart sounds. The massage was chaotic with no structure. Think- rub my left foot, tuck it away, shove my shoulders, then do my back for ninety seconds; then left foot again. Like put my hands behind my head while I laid on my stomach and gave the kookiest shoulder massage ever. She kept randomly shoving my shoulders- she physically moved me with these shoves. She would push from the head of the bed and randomly push full force on my shoulders. I was moved down in the bed multiple times. My face wasn’t aligned in the pillow because I got smooshed down from her shoves. I just wanted it to end. It wasn’t relaxing. There was no technique. Cannot stress enough - A TOTAL WASTE OF MY TIME AND MONEY.Then I go to the mud bath. You’re only in the mud about 15 min. It seemed really hard to relax when they are rushing you to get in and into next station and rinsed off- even though I’m only one in there. While I was in the mineral water bath, I asked therapist if she could turn on a little cold water as it was very hot. Instead, she got out a garden hose they use to clean in there and sprayed hose water into the tub while I’m in it. Is the hose water mineral water? I’m paying a lot of money to be being sprayed down with a freaking garden hose. When I went to shower, no towels. The only other guest I saw there was the woman showering with her black socks on because this is the only spa that doesn’t give you sandals to walk around with.I went to complain to receptionist after because the whole experience was truly horrible, and she was on phone and showed me away saying “spa guests prepaid, you can just go”. Like ok…As I sat in my car in the parking lot, texting my husband how my day was a waste here , a termite/bug exterminator parks next to me, unloads, and goes inside the building. Great !!!I emailed the manager and got a generic “sorry for your experience, we will talk to our staff”. I want my money back. I could have gotten a better massage from a stranger off the street! The place wasn’t clean and no one was friendly- I felt like an inconvenience the whole time. It wasn’t relaxing at all. The next day - my husband and I went to spawell and it was a real spa and enjoyable- I def reccomend them. Don’t waste your time or money here- you’re gonna regret it.

This is the 2nd time I’ve stayed here. The first time was great, but this most recent time was unpalatable. I really can’t comprehend how a hotel allows kids and adults to scream at 7am without a notice to quiet down. I’m not a quiet person, I expect noise but the sounds of children shrieking outside from 7-10 am is absolutely ridiculous, chanting, “dad dad dad” is not really a vibe you want to catch when trying to enjoy Calistoga. You can hear literally everything from inside your room. At one point 2 children were directly outside our room screaming and their parents laughed. When I called the front desk they were unhelpful, saying I could call back about the noise. Umm… The most unrestful hot springs experience. Would not return.

It's basically a refurbished Motel with a couple of pools and large hot tub. Don't let the pics fool you. Front desk staff was unemotional when informing mepool area is not available until check in and day pass required after check out. Rooms are ok. Location is good. It's not that it's a bad place, just not the caliber and quality the pics and website portray.

We did not get any spa services during our stay and there are no services at the pool. There is no housekeeping during the stay either. They are clear on the rules: No late checkout, no room keys at check in without documenting your license plate, no use of pool until check in.We went midweek and it was a KFC and retirement crowd. Many people brought in fast food to the pool area.Walkability: Easy access to downtown

Our experience at this hotel leaves a lot to be desired. We were assigned a room that was occupied. When i informed front desk person she seemed a bit put out that i would ask for another room, and did not even apologize for the error. Next day our appts for massages were canceled at last minute, due short staffing. Only service that was provided were clean towels if needed. Safe your $$ stay somewhere else

Calistoga Spa is an amazing place for relaxation! I only tried the spa, and it exceeded my expectations. The staff is super friendly, and the pool and spa areas are clean and well maintained. They provide free towels and even have coin-operated laundry and dryer facilities. It's a perfect spot to unwind and escape the daily grind. Highly recommended!

The soaking pool was magical at night, and during a cool rain. This is not a super luxury property, but it was very clean and very well maintained. The big draw are the hot soaking pools. We met people who said they had been coming for 20+ years. One coin op washer and dryer. Location was perfect for day trips to Napa, St Helena, Bodega Bay, and many other lovely towns.

This hotel is horribly misrepresented online. Every photo shows a gorgeous room or view of the property when I. Reality it is no better than a Motel6 with a new coat of paint. It definitely is not worth $400+ a night. The rooms are small, furnishings are damaged and not well kept. The pool water was a dingy yellow. We checked in and immediately went downstairs to ask for a refund, to their benefit they fully refunded the room upon request.

Review and warning for mud bath services, staffing is reduced to one attendant and they are not trained for accommodation. Had somebody jerk me out by my arm when I was being too slow getting out because one of my arms is recovering from surgery. Attendent left a visible bruise on my arm and in trying to prevent her from further injuring my arm, I threw out my back. I used to go here in pre-COVID times and it's more expensive/service is not as a good. The $$$ I spent on the treatment and pass for the pool was not worth it. Already I've spent 2 days laid up in pain and already had a doctor and physical therapist's appointments thanks to the damage done to my back. If you want a mud bath, I'd recommend instead paying the extra money for Indian Springs b/c they have more staff/support. Really sad, I used to love this place but this incident is the last time I'll be going to their spa.

We stayed at Calistoga Spa on a Wednesday. When we confirmed our reservation the week before I tried to make appointments for spa services. I was surprised to learn that they are not offering mud baths on Wednesdays and that they only had 1 massage available first thing in the morning. I couldn’t find any information on the website about limited services during the week and honestly we probably would have chosen to stay somewhere else if we had known ahead of time. We decided to stay anyway and the pools and room were excellent as usual. The woman I spoke to on the phone about spa services was very rude. At one point I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor and she transferred the call to HERSELF and said that she was the only one there!! The young man who originally confirmed my reservation was unsure of a number of things but it was clear that he was training so I didn’t mind and we had no trouble working it out. If there is trouble staffing the spa during the week, that’s understandable. I don’t need to be put down and belittled by the staff however. That was unacceptable.

The location and the three pools are lovely. Rooms are clean and basic. (Bring your own pillow) The mini fridge and microwave were handy.Difficult to get a lounge chair at the pool as they are all "saved" with towels although the people are nowhere to be seen. That was frustratingWalkability: Very conveniently located. Super easy to walk to restaurants, bars, shops
