I was extremely lucky to get the last room they had. Upon arrival, I didn't catch her name. But I think she saw I was pretty worn. She made sure the room was perfect, and it was. It was super clean, that's something I like to see. The sheets smelt like fresh laundry. I say 5 stars because of service, cleanliness, and just my personal opinion. Hopefully I'll never be in California again personally, but I'd stay here anytime.

Of the half a dozen stays in hotel rooms ranging in price from $90 to $110, this is the cleanest. The place is old but there are no signs of “decay” around the edges. I detect very little odor of either use or cleaning chemicals. Even though the place is right next to the hwy, there is minimal noise. The East facing window looks out on a parking lot with a large gravel lot beyond next to a gated “collection” of autos an equipment with residences and rolling hills beyond. It would be nice to have an office chair that is not squeezed into the room, and a better behaving TV.Rooms: Clean and quiet

Surprisingly great stay! Super clean, pet-friendly, updated rooms with everything you need. The beds were comfy and the bathroom was clean, stocked with soaps and towels. Very friendly staff and bright enough lights in the parking lot to feel secure at night. I was passing through on a short road trip and just needed somewhere to sleep. I didn't see many options for things to do or places to eat around, except for Golden Acorn Casino. It's only 8 mins away and great for dinner.

Wow. What can I say. As over the road trucker. The staff here Bobbi,Thelma,Lydia and Marco make you feel right at homeVery friendly lots of parking easily accessible for semi! They go out of their way to make you feel at home. It’s in remote area not many stores. While in my room Lydia called me said she was going to store and picked up a few things for me! Who does that !The rooms are so cozy heater and ac work great. Fridge is ice cold! Showers are tall which is really nice ! I stay at a lot of places and this place overall is hands down best ever. Five stars are not enough!If you are traveling in San Diego area and looking for a place to stay this is it. They are about an hour out but it’s worth it!I am Michael Wray Jr the inventor of You’re the Coach the Ultimate Football Board Game and I highly recommend them. They also have comfortable office chairs not cheap ones like other places and nice work desk!Rooms: I did on my post !

I was driving back home from a San Diegos children's hospital. I was falling asleep and luckily this motel was on the way. From the outside it doesn't look too nice. The girl at the front office was extremely nice. Wish I had asked her name to thank her. All I know is that is was her first day. But the rooms inside were really nice to our surprise. The beds and pillows were really comfortable. We felt safe during our stay. In the morning I had the pleasure of meeting the owner. Very nice gentleman! Motel definitely recommend.

We reserved a room half way between San Diego and Yuma. When we arrived, there were no rooms left, The said they were sorry. We hit a snowstorm there and it was big, fluffy, and wet. It was sticking on the ground.So we drove straight through to Yuma.Noteworthy details: Don't make a reservation, because you may not get it when you arrive.

The manager "Thelma " is very kind & helpful. Everyone's pleasant. Room is clean, mattress is amazingly comfortable! Microwave & mini fridge helped a lot. Great motel for the price. ❤️ There's many places to shop, a historic Candy Cottage, Golden Acorn Casino, Jacumba Hot Springs, Lake Morena & Horse back riding are all very close. Great quiet getaway right off the 8 exit.We'll definitely be back 👏💯Thank you Thelma and everyone for taking such good care of my Mom while we were there.Rooms: Are clean I believe they just remodeled.Nearby activities: There's the Golden Acorn Casino, The Desert Tower, Inkopah, Jacumba Hot Springs, Campo is close with museums. The Back Country is beautifulWalkability: No where to walk to. Roads are too busy with cars doing 55mphFood & drinks: Not too much in the way of restaurants. Golden Acorn Casino is close. Mathews is a little restaurant, closes at 9pmCampo is 12 minutes away, there's a cafe, taco shop, sub shop, circle K ..

Dec. 24,2022I asked for a handicap room and received room 101.The bathroom tub had what looked like black mold between the tile and the tub. The bottom finish of the tub looks like it had been peeled off and left ruff. The bathroom sink had no screen in the drain. If you drop something, it's bye-bye.There were no glasses provided to drink out of.The bed had several mattresses stacked on top of each other. It was so high I had to help my wife into it. The outside wall with the heater/air conditioner was no more than arm distance to the head of the bed and blew cold air at first when it cycled.I had paid for three nights, and only state two. Of course, no refunds!The manager didn't seem to care what I told him about the room instead, just bragged on about how many good reviews he's had.

Stopped here when my Car died on the way to a beach vacation. The owner is literally a saint from above, he went out of his way to help get us food when the car was broken. The room was great as well, snack and soda machines near the front desk!

I've been staying here since 2020. Nice renovations done with better Security Solutions for entering your room. Sam is an awesome person. He knows how to treat a guest!!!Rooms: Comfortable beds, TV internet, shower.Nearby activities: Local Train ( OLD SCHOOL)Lots of trails to walk.Safety: New key card access!Food & drinks: Local casino with great food and gambling. Sam has a little store in his office with things to make in microwave in room and sweet snacks around other things to eat or drink.

This was the only place where I could find a place to stay, I was thankful for this place. I arrived at night, the gentleman that attended me was polite and professional. The room had a musky smell, this might be due to the lack of traffic they receive. The bathroom needed a bit of cleaning, and upkeep. The next attendant that I encountered was the following day, he seemed to be unhappy with being there. I asked for an extension and mentioned…”you can leave when ever the hell you want.” I thanked him and let him to continue watching what ever he was watching, clearly he did not want to be disturbed. It definitely is helpful to have them when there is nothing else.

Great little Motel. Stayed here at the end of February to the 4 of March. Clean, but the maintenance was lacking. Looked like the maintenance crew are all graduates of YouTube university. Quiet for the most part until the Golden Acorn degenerates hole up here. They love to come and go at all hours, slamming doors and talking outside your room. Secure parking and great WiFi.Management and the counter people are very pleasant and accommodating.No great dining around, but the Manzanita diner a mile or so away makes a good pizza. I would certainly stay again.

The front desk employee was very professional polite and helpful. The room was clean and welcoming. I was caring for my disabled husband and found that the room wasn't at all a handicapped friendly. The tub had no bars to assist. The toilet was just that. It wasn't easy to get my husband in and out of the confined bathroom or bedroom. I found it hard to wheel him in or out of the room as no ramp for wheelchairs were available. While I first unloading my husband and our belongings I heard a women in the office yell at the man who checked us in saying that I was not parked in the correct place. I was parked close to the room and promptly moved after we were unloaded. After all that, I must say I had a very restful two days. My husband did not stay as he could not find comfort..... NOT HANDICAPPED FRIENDLY. I thought that it was a law. I don't know, isn't it?

We were a little concerned after reading the reviews, I asked if we could check the room before we paid. Not one bug in that room! The room is nothing fancy, but it was very clean, top to bottom! Many channels on the TV. We stayed two nights with our 3 kids. Room was kind of small, but served its purpose well! The gal who worked the front desk was SO kind and professional to not only my husband and I, but to our kids too. We really enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

I rate this a 5 star place to stay! Me and friend went to hike the mtns in this area and booked this place last week. we were pleasantly surprised! The owner walks the property at night and in mornings as he should being close to the border. It made me feel safe and again the value for this place was great only thing we needed was an iron but we can't have it all! I'd definitely recommend this place and I would stay again.

For what it is it's great. Whole in the wall in the middle of no where. Half way between San Diego and Yuma. The room was clean the staff were very friendly and helpful, the bed was comfortable and pillows were good. No ice machine and only a soda vending machine. $10.00 a night for a dog

Was on a bicycle trip to Florida. End of Day one out of San Diego. The hotel was just off the highway.Hotel Manager Jeremiah was great! He gave me a downstairs room for easy in and out with bicycle. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Nice TV and cold a/c.Excellent Italian restaurant and also a General Store within walking distance!I highly recommend the Back Country Inn!

Not bad for a basic roadside. A little behind in maintenance but the bed was warm and the heater worked so post 35deg motorcycle ride it felt good.Honestly can't say anything for Boulevard though but I didn't come for the locale.

Second time staying here in the last three weeks. Yes, no frills however clean and comfortable rooms. Definitely safe for the whole family.Jeremiah the front desk manager is awesome, and very accommodating. Their beds & especially their pillows are extremely comfortable! Their towels were so white & perfect, I was after to get them dirty when washing my makeup off. The only thing they need are at least 1 towel to step on when getting out from showering.

A place a friend of mine and I stay, when we hit the Golden Acorn. Great price for a really nice & neat room. No drama like a lot of other motels. Large deposit, but just be respectful with the room, and you will get it all back. No drama there either. Thanks guys?💯😁
