We stayed this past weekend at Hacienda Del Sol. The property is undergoing updating . The casita that we stayed in was a really comfortable size and laid out really well. I loved having the kitchenette. Loved sitting out on the patio with afternoon drinks and morning coffee. Had a great view of the mountains. Decor is very clean and modern. Furnishings are not plush but they are new . The staff is really helpful and responsive. They really make the place. We plan to return. The location is central , so you can walk to the market, next door for an espresso or a restaurant for dinner but the gardens are laid out nicely so you still feel like you are in the desert.

My wife and I stayed at the Hacienda Del Sol on a short getaway trip to Borrego Springs. We booked one of the Casita units. The units are situated in duplexes along a driveway that encircle the common areas of the property (pool, sitting areas, etc.). The entire property has a retro theme, which we really liked. The units and surrounding areas are well maintained. Our unit was great, with nice furnishings, lots of space and a very comfortable living room. The bathroom was nicely updated and the kitchen was fully equipped and more than adequate. Although we only had a short stay, this would be a great place to set-up a home base for a longer adventure in the Anza Borrego park. The Hacienda is also near the center of town, so restaurants, stores, art parks and the main community park are a short walk. There was a festive farmers market in the community park (which runs November through April as we were told). We also visited the very interesting giant metal sculptures at Galletta Meadows, which is only 2 miles from the motel. We would definitely recommend a stay at the Hacienda Del Sol and a visit to Borrego Springs.

We stayed in one of the very nice and very comfortable casitas. The customer service was excellent. We were very close to Anza Borrego visitor center and many great hikes. There was also 2 grocery stores, restaurants, etc within close walking distance. We had beautiful mountain views and we appreciated the quietness. We would definitely come back.Nearby activities: Grocery, restaurants, art, park, gift shops, etcWalkability: Close to many shops.

I would definitely stay at Hacienda del Sol again. The staff was pleasant. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the view from my large windows was amazing. waking up to the sound of the birds every morning was such a joy. The new owners have taken on an ambitious project to renovate this timeless classic, and the decisions they are making are both comfortable and stylishRooms: The bed was very comfortable. Actually, all of the furniture was quite comfortable. I stayed in a casita , and it was so spacious.. We cooked dinner in one night, and I cooked breakfast one morning, and it worked out very nicely.Nearby activities: Hacienda del Sol is probably a mile and a half from the entrance to the parkWalkability: The main mall for Borrego Springs is just across the street. The grocery store, restaurants, outfitters and many other things, are just a five minute walk away

This place is sick. Super cool skatepark nearby (probably walkable, but we drove). Also, plenty of good food options within walking distance including diner/pizza style bar and restaurant and a good Mexican food place. Rooms have been updated and are very well designed (both the rooms and casitas). Pool is nice and spacious, and there are tons of hiking, off roading, and other activities within a short distance away from the place. Would recommend to friends. Would stay again.

I stayed here with several friends a couple of weeks ago. I loved the views from the motel property. The sunset over the mountainy areas was beautiful while we were playing shuffleboard and the stars are stunning. You can see sooooo many! The new owners have spent a bunch of money improving the property and I love the 1950's decor in the rooms. The AC kept the room cold which was nice to come back to after hiking through the canyons, which are also beautiful. The king size bed in the Casita that I stayed in was very comfortable. I grabbed breakfast across the street each morning at a local diner that had decent prices and great food. I recommend getting a chocolate shake with your breakfast, haha! Seriously, it was delish. And it's vacation so...This was a super cool and unique location to unwind and spend time with friends in a beautiful area. Highly recommend.

What a great little getaway! Only a 2-3 hour drive from LA/OC/SD, just enough to feel like a fun scenic road trip with a couple cool bars/restaurants/roadside attractions to check out along the way.I stayed in one of the smaller rooms this time, but definitely plan on getting one of the casitas for my next stay. The pool was popular during our stay as well as the communal BBQ/picnic area that we enjoyed using as well. And once we wanted a change of scenery, the local bars/restaurants were walkable and super fun (highly recommend Carlee’s)! There’s also some pretty good thrifting in the area, as well. Can’t wait to get back to Hacienda del Sol for my next desert fix! 🌵☀️

This was was second time that myself, my husband and my dog stayed. We always go with a group of friends. The beds are very comfy able and the decor is cool modern/ retro vibe. There are no tvs in the room which is a great way to disconnect and enjoy the scenery. The stars are amazing. They have a cool communal area that you can have an outdoor fireplace, there is corn hole, giant shuffle board and hot shoes as well as seating. A great place to hang with friends, enjoy some food and drinks and watch the stars. The area is in the middle of nowhere but there’s surprisingly a lot to do. There are some local restaurants and a market super close by. Lots of artwork to look at and drive out too. I recommend a off roading car to take advantage of the state park with off roading trails. Also they have a pool to cool off. Lastly the hotel is dog friendly so it was super cool to have everyone’s dogs roaming around and really enjoying themselves.Plus: the staff was super friendly and knowledgeable of the area with good recommendation

This was our 3rd time staying at the Hacienda del Sol. We absolutely love staying at this property! The rooms have everything you need for a comfortable stay are are very stylishly decorated. Our most recent trip we came to celebrate my husband’s birthday. What a great place for a destination birthday party with relatives and friends. There is something for everyone. You can sit back and relax by the pool, go off roading, or go hiking in the neighboring state park. For those into art, there is a lovely museum within walking distance and a short drive away there are literally hundreds (130 to be exact) of metal sculptures to be discovered. At the end of the day everyone can meet back up to share their adventures while cozying up by the community fire pit and gazing at the stars. Everything is in very close proximity, including multiple grocery stores, restaurants, and gift shops. It is a great place to go with kids. Since so many amenities are within walking distance, it’s easy just to put the kids in the stroller or wagon and go! And on top of that, the property is dog friendly, so literally the whole family can go and enjoy this little slice of desert paradise. We are already planning our next trip!Rooms: The rooms are clean, spacious, and stylishly remodeled.Nearby activities: Fonts Point, Slot Canyon trail, and looking at the impressive desert sculptures are great activities!Walkability: It is a super walkable area!Food & drinks: We very much enjoyed Carlee’s, Kendall’s, and Poblitos during our stay.

This was my husband and my first time staying at Hacienda del Sol and it was just what we needed! It is seriously the best quiet getaway we could have asked for. We stayed in one of the motor lodge rooms and it had everything we needed. There is a mini fridge so we were able to stock up on snacks and drinks at the local market (literally a 1 minute walk from our room). There is a coffee machine and ground coffee so we were able to walk up and sit on our stoop and drink coffee while listening to quiet birds chirping. Everything you need is in walking distance. The local Mexican restaurant, Pablito’s is fantastic! There’s a pool area and a large open recreational area in the middle of where all the casitas and motor lodge rooms are which makes it a perfect event retreat for families, companies, and even a low key desert wedding! We 100% will be coming back when we want a quiet weekend away or if we want to have a desert outing with friends!Rooms: Cozy and super cute! They really thought about everything in terms of amenities.Nearby activities: Casual laid back restaurants, off roaming, desert artWalkability: Everything was in close walking distance of each other

We loved our stay at Hacienda Del Sol and the surrounding area. The motel was redone in 2023 with charm, keeping some of the cool features from 1947 but creating a feeling of cool. We enjoyed swimming and playing in the pool, shuffleboard, horseshoes, etc. They also had a great space for a cookout. In some ways it felt like stepping back to a simpler time. The surrounding state park is amazing, the size of Rhode Island, it completely surrounds the town. We went to a butte to overlook some badlands and hike through slot canyons that rivaled those in Utah national parks. We saw bighorn sheep, coyotes, a race of roadrunners, and lots of other fascinating things. We want to come back and spend more time in this state park. The cafe across the street served some of the best Eggs Benedict I've ever had (I had the version with jalapeno peppers). There was also some great shopping nearby, from an outfitter shop to vintage shops to a shop of old treasures. We found more and varied shops than I'd have imagined. There are so many places to see in the world, we often don't plan to return to places, but this is a motel and area I'd like to come back to and spend more time.

This was my 3rd trip to Borrego Springs and 1st time not staying in an RV Park. We decided to not bring the trailer because ours has no AC & it is sometimes a bit of a hassle. It was nice to leave it behind and stay in 1 of Hacienda Del Sol's Casita’s. The front porch opens to the bedroom with a king size very comfy bed, next into a living room area, the living space opens to both the bathroom and a kitchen. The kitchen had a refrigerator with ice box, sink, microwave, coffee maker, and stove with items for cooking. We stayed in #10 which is a shared building with 11. There's a brick wall between the 2 so I could not hear my friend who was staying next door with her husband and 2 kids.Check in was easy. The room offered a book that gave ideas on things you could do or restaurants you could try.My favorite places to eat were:Pablito's (Mexican food located next door), La Casa del Zorro Resort (Casa Cafe & Market - for coffee & quick breakfast), Big Horn Burgers & Shakes (seasonal, opens in November)They have a very large pool and an outdoor area close by with shuffleboard, horseshoes, BBQ, cornhole, and a fireplace (a friend brought smores and we had some). In the lobby they had a billiard table.Outside of the lobby they have an ice machine that came in very handy when filling our ice chest for the day.I enjoyed the vibe of Hacienda Del Sol and the fact that most things in town were walkable. It was chic and clean. They had really large windows which gave the most beautiful view of the desert, but it was a hot weekend, so we mostly kept the curtains closed. I will definitely visit again, hopefully soon.

The owner Kristen was the most accommodating host. She made our trip perfect. While I have been a guest at hacienda del sol for over 40 years, I was reluctant to accept the new changes. However everything was remodeled tastefully and revived what one would expect from a great little get away. The pool area turned out amazing. The crumbling walls have been repaired, painted etc. Again I have nothing but great things to say about my stay. Don't take my word for it have a look!

One of the most glorious locations I've ever stayed at, I felt transported to another time. Beautifully designed, with breathtaking views. We woke up early every morning to see the sun rise and light up the mountains. Absolutely will be coming back.Nearby activities: The Borrego Palm Canyon trail is amazing!

Renovations are underway and I'm excited to see the entire property finished! I stayed in one of the Casita duplexes and it was so cute, they've done a great job with the renovation. Very stylish, southwest midcentury modern vibe and I loved having my own little kitchen. The fact that the property is dog friendly is even better. You can't beat the location, it's smack in the middle of downtown Borrego Springs but the horseshoe design of the property lets you feel slightly removed from the main drag which is nice. I will absolutely be back and have already told my mom and multiple friends about this little gem.Walkability: Hacienda Del Sol is located directly on the Main Street of Borrego Springs with all shopping and food being within a 1-2 block walk.

Adorable newly renovated mid-century hotel right on the Borrego Springs strip with interesting history. Right next door to grocery stores and local eats. The grounds had a fireplace, shuffle board, and a pet-friendly heated pool that we enjoyed with our wiener dog! The owners are a friendly young couple that helped us out with a last minute stay. 10/10 would stay here again!

cute little motel. well priced. recently renovated but not quite luxurious. pillows deflate to pancakes and the air conditioning is a bit of a nightmare in the summer. never met a weaker minisplit. and the 3 room casitas get a single window unit. that said, its nice for borrego and the pool was great. would come back just not in the off season due to weak HVAC.

Great little spot with some updates in the rooms. Safe, clean, with a fun vibe. We went with another family and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the pool and in the town. The grounds were fun for the kids to explore and the stargazing from our patio was excellent every night - we even saw shooting stars. Neat spot for tourists, families, friend groups, etc.

Report this business to the DOJ. They discriminated against my disabled relative who came to visit. Upon seeing him they lied and said construction was going to take place and cancelled our reservation after they called to confirm and said she'd meet us outside to check in. This place should not be allowed in Borrego SpringsDO NOT SUPPORT.

I do not recommend this hotel. The buildings are in disrepair: chipping paint, entry door to room was damaged and repaired with many screws. The entry door was missing the security lock. Dead plants out front. Old, mismatched lamps and end tables. Chipped furniture, stains on the ceiling from water damage. The only AC was a window unit and it was not keeping the room cool. We left. Didn't stay the night. The beds had old bed spreads and didn't feel clean.

We love this place and come back every year! No, it's not a luxury resort, but very unique. Simple but clean; wonderful pool, available at all times. Acres of interesting surroundings to stroll around in. Very friendly hosts - we love Mike and his wife! This is how Borrego Springs should be enjoyed - not in overpriced hotels.
