Borrego Palm Canyon is super chill, with a good vibe. I camped with my family of 4, including our two girls, ages 7 and 9, in late February 2024. We had site 75. The facilities are super clean. The campground was quiet by 9pm. This time of year nights are in the mid 50s. Perfect sleeping weather. Calm winds.Highly recommended and well camp again for sure!Check out the visitors center and do the Junior Ranger program with your kids. So fun!

Lovely campground: well kept friendly host and staff. The upper loop (higher numbers) looks right into canyon. Showers are hot if a little dark and dingy. It’s a CA state park so expect to pay for showers and a premium for camping. Can get windy

Didn’t end up staying here because we were informed that the site we had chosen was already taken, even though the reservation sign had blown away which was unfortunate. BUT the state park employee came and let us know right before we would have paid and let us know and then showed us alternative sites we could stay at and saved the day for us! Whoever was working on 4/8/24 you were great thank you so much!!

This is one of the best campgrounds I have visited!Mainly because the staff is awesome and there are plenty of resources! At night there is nothing but the sound of silence or an occasional coyote howl with a dark sky full of stars like most have not or rarely seen.Hot showers for a couple of bucks, clean water, and plenty of restrooms w/ sinks and plugs. Plus Water facets are located liberally throughout camp sitesIt has one of the Best Afternoon Hikes I have done in the West which is the Palm Canyon Hike to an Oasis in the Desert! It is next to the awesome little town of Borrego Springs which is full of guinine, outdoor loving people. It's in The Anzo-Borrego State Park, CA's largest. There is plenty to do without spending money in the Anzo Borrego Desert! The desert is much more alive and vibrant than most people imagine - Right now the WildFlowers are popping up!If you live in LA or San Diego county, this is a great weekend getaway within a few hours for just a few bucks. (Bus back and forth from El Cajon and Borrego on Thurs. & Fri.)Really Great Hike & Bike Rates as Well!

Awesome place to camp at the foot of the mountain, nice clean and easily accessible bathrooms and showers. The staff at the entry was very nice and helpful, they took time with me to show me some cool places to visit nearby during my stay. The campsite was excellent with a large picnic table and pergola, as well as a bbq grill and fire pit with grill too. The town center is a 5 min drive away in case you forget any supplies or need ice/gas/air. Showers are $1 for 2 mins and they machine for the shower tokens takes $1, $5, and $10 bills but doesn’t give back change so make sure you bring small bills. Wood bundles were $8 or so for the fire pits during daytime hours at the entry next to the shower token machine. The campsites were also nicely spread out for privacy but sound travels pretty well in the quiet desert so be mindful of neighbors when playing music at night.Nearby activities: Lots of trails and 4x4 trails close by. Plus beautiful metal sculptures throughout the town.Safety: Nice safe and secure campground.

It’s still a scorching desert in early October, a blazing 100°. Shade structures provide relief, but the sun still pierces through. Interactions with park rangers range from nice to oddly aggressive, a-lot of bureaucracy: registration, stickers, and shower tokens. Clean facilities, but slamming doors and roads too close to campsites for comfort. Simplify the process, and let us enjoy the stars in peace. 🌟

I stayed one night on a Friday in May, 2023. The weather was great. The temperature was around 91F. There was breeze occasionally. The air was dry. I found it comfortable weather. The campground and bathroom were clean. I got amazing views of mountains. The sunset and sunrise were beautiful too. The campground is near Borrego Palm Canyon Trail where you can experience oases, canyon, and rock mountains. The campground is 2 hr from San Diego and little over 3 hr from LA. There are also scenic and viewing points on the roads to get the campground. Staying in the desert campground needs careful preparation Iike loading extra water and making sure the car is filled with gas. This is now my favorite campground. It is definitely worth to visit.

Park is beautiful. Bureaucratic rangers running it are completely lacking logic and ability to manage and run the place. They did not let people in early only to have everyone (over 20 cars) pile up right at two at which point they couldn't handle the flow, and things just stopped moving. After 15 minutes they pushed some cars forward to the office to try and create a second line for checking in but still wouldn't process you unless you were the first car in line resulting in us just sitting there for over 30 minutes to check in. All could have been avoided by letting us check in when people arrived.. as someone who has visited over 4 dozen state parks in California that was the poorest execution ever witnessed for checking in folks to the park. Pathetic. Don't come on time if you want a typical check in experience.

Stayed here for a week and could have stayed longer. What a beautiful area full of interesting hikes! The campground had nicely spaced RV sites with full hook-ups and pull-throughs. Some vegetation separated sites and added to privacy. The park was very quiet. Our site was fairly level and easy to get into. Everything was neat and tidy in the campground and around the park. The ranger talk on the dark sky was interesting. We had good cell phone service (AT&T).

We came to Anza Borrego for the wild flowers and it didn’t disappoint. The campgrounds were clean and had so many wildflowers! The sites are all pull thru and very large. They are pretty far away from the other sites so you have a good amount of privacy in your site.At night the winds get super strong so expect to not be outside much right after sunset until it cools. The Palm Canton hike that’s a little ways down from the campgrounds is a must hike! Make sure to go early and bring lots of water.

Great place to come with friends, or alone. The experiences will be different, but both will be profound and unforgettable. They have many great trails including the magical one up to an palm tree oasis about a 1.5 mile hike up the canyon. Be sure to bring water with you, and some trail snacks. The showers are clean and hot water plentiful— they work with tokens you can buy at the camp store. You can also buy firewood. If you go on a full moon you will be particularly enchanted.

Nice clean campground. Super nice people that work there. I didn't check out the restrooms or showers. I had full hook ups. But Borrego Springs is really close for groceries, fuel and good restaurants. There is a park in the center of the round about, that has concerts on weekends. The sculptures are nearby also. U just need to get a town booklet and it tells u where they are. Fun trip with a camp group. 😎

We visited Anza-Borrego State Park for the first time over Christmas weekend, as a group of 3. Decided to camp here due to its proximity to the park sights and ease of getting to it. We stayed at site 117 which was very spacious and fit our large tent no problem. All sites feature a fire pit and picnic table. Depending on which site you choose it can have space for multiple tents (seemed like most of them) or only have space for one. There are a handful of sites that are extra cool - they feature stone ramadas with a built in fireplace and tables (sites 116, 104, and 107). I would opt for one of those sites next time! The campground was pretty quiet at night. We didn't have any neighbors too close to us. The stars at night are gorgeous! You can spend hours just staring up at the sky. The Palm Canyon trail starts from the campground - no need to drive to the trailhead, and it is a hike worth doing. There are several open air toilets around the campground. I expected them to be pit toilets but they flush. There are regular building toilets with sinks as well. The only downsides to camping here are 1) at night you can see the lights of the town (doesn't interfere with stars at least), and 2) the cost. I would try one of the other more remote campgrounds next time or dispersed camping, now that I've been and know the area better.

This is a well run beautiful campground. Rangers and staff are very nice. 2 types of spots, hook ups and non hook ups. All spots are large with plenty of room between you and your neighbor. For the hookup spots, all sites are pull through. The non-hook ups are in 2 areas, near the trailhead and by the hook up area.We saw a herd of about 16 bighorn sheep in the Palm Canyon Trail parking lot. Amazing! If you do go for a hike on the trail, go early and bring water. We watched 2 folks airlifted out.If it gets too hot for you, The Palms at Indian Head resort is within walking distance (there is a trail to it) and you can buy a day pass for $10 to use their gorgeous pool. Walk back over to the Palms at night for a drink at the bar or for a nice dinner.

The campground was clean and pretty, the walking paths were beautifully marked and well maintained, and the bathrooms were in good shape for the duration of our stay. I really enjoyed being able to bring my dog to camp with my husband and I here - he particularly enjoyed the path from the campground to the visitor center (which is dog friendly). Each campsite had a nice wooden table and small shade structure plus a fire ring and grill. Most sites had easy access to water hookups at their sites too.

They have good clean restrooms with showers. There are a few hikes that start right from the campground. You can get shower tokens from a vending machine that is located at the ranger station. It takes only cash. The rangers if available will help you get smaller bills if needed

Stayed a couple of days in an RV site with full hook ups. There was ample room to park our 32 ft RV. There was remaining space to park a vehicle if we had wanted. We were in space 19. Sites are close together, very family friendly. We were close to the restrooms and showers. The restrooms are kept exceptionally clean. Each site has a wooden picnic table and fire pit. We had enough room on the hook up side of the campsite to pitch a tent. If you are into hiking, we were close to the Palm Canyon Trail head. A one mile walk to the Visitor's Center. The town is super close too. Park rangers were very nice! Also, they do have fire wood for sale. Very well kept camping grounds. We had a wonderful time and will definitely return.

A very clean site with well-kept facilities. There is no shade, so when it’s hot, it’s hot! The scenery is gorgeous, seated at the foot of some breathtaking mountains. There is a small town located a few minutes away, so if you happen to forget anything or decide you want pizza for dinner, it makes things easy. Stargazing is Incredible, and there are many good hiking locations nearby.

Terrific campground, really good hikes directly from there to visitor center to several destinations, dark skies at night... My only complaint is the showers use tokens - and both token vending machines at the front office were out of commission. The first day, the ranger was handing some tokens out - the next day, they directed me to remaining vending machine at the VERY BACK of the campground - at least a half mile away. So I got some extra exercise and then had a nice hot shower.

Pretty nice campground. Each camp site has a pergola, fire ring and picnic table. Costs tokens to take a shower but wasn't that expensive. Bathrooms were clean.

I have 30 amp services in a very long pull through site. Picnic table, no shade. Looks like tent sites have a modest shelter over table. The location is very quiet. Nights are really dark, no park lighting. I need a flashlight to walk on a moonless night. Awesome view of stars. Borrego Springs has a modest selection of restaurants. I was there in a flash on my e-bike. Only two gas stations in town, $1/gal more than closer to civilization. Phone says I have 2 or 3 bar ATT 5G but it never seemed very fast, but it did work.

Nice park with roomy RV spots. Not a lot of shade but beautiful views of the mountains. Lots of great trails. I'd give it a 5 but dogs are not allowed on the trails so it limited our hikes. Do not miss Fonts Point. Be careful going on Arroyo Salado road. We got lost trying to find the Palms. No signs and some really rough roads. Get a map better than park map.

This was our first time in the area/at this campground and I definitely plan to return! The sites were decent sized and all included a picnic table with awnings and a firepit. The bathrooms were close by and were individually lit, with real sinks/toilets/mirrors in each one! Outside are some sinks you can use for washing your dishes, etc. We tent camped, so I can't comment on the RV experience here, except we saw plenty. You can buy firewood and maps at the entrance and there is plenty of hiking on site or in close driving distance.Great skies for star gazing, and you'll definitely hear plenty of coyotes! If you have small dogs, keep them close by, as we had some coyotes running through our site in the morning. Overall, excellent experience!
