Anza-Borrego Foundation - State Park Store

I visited this small store looking for some nice souvenirs while staying at the park. When my family and I entered the store, there were some ladies having a conversation that quickly turned racist and demeaning towards people of color. I truly believe in free speech and support it but, having to experience the shop employee entertain and engage in such a conversation that spewed hatred towards outsiders and tourists, made me very angry. It is the tourists that keep the park alive as well as the store. It is the indigenous people that preserved the area for a millennia, shed blood sweat and tears so that you could have some culture and artifacts to marvel at. Let's be a little mindful of what is presented in front of the general public and keep hate speech out of a tourist store, especially when you have persons with family visiting.

This spot is a great launching point for your visit to Anza Borrego State Park! There's maps and guide books as well as trinkets and souvenirs! The associates are super helpful and knowledgeable. Anza Borrego is beautiful and rugged and I think the best time to go is during the late winter mornings when everything is cool and the desert is blossoming after the rains!

Store says they are open 9 to 5 daily... me and 2 other ladies were there at 4:27, sign on but door 100% locked and no answer.... hmm.
