Incredible stop, definitely worth it. We did the wine and cheese tasting (5 wines with 7 cheese pairings), SO good and very reasonably priced. They also have more food, if you are in the mood for something more substantial. The area is really picturesque too, and you get to see both the vines and the sheep and goats. All the cheeses are made on site, as well as most of the wines. Made for a beautiful afternoon.

Their farm tour (10.30 am and 2.30 pm) is so fun and educational - get to see the adorable working goats up close! Lovely outdoor space to enjoy their delicious cheese and wine.

A beautiful estate with sweeping views of the vineyard. Their cheeses are primarily made of goat and sheep’s milk and are good pairings to their estate wines. Understanding that palettes are subjective, none of their wines stood out for me unfortunately. Their staff however is friendly and accommodating.

Fun spot to stop for a wine tasking and cheese pairing! They also had some snacks like polenta fries and deviled eggs that were great. I will note there were a quite a few flies on the outdoor patio that ruined the mood but otherwise everything was great.

Came here for a farm tour which is super cute when they have baby goats and baby lambs. You can't pet them but you can pet the adults. The cheese and the wines are both great here. Was pleasantly surprised and took a bottle of sauvignon blanc and pinot noir home. The goat cheese was creamy and delicious. They were out of it in store but they do sell at markets nearby. The price of a tasting was very reasonably priced. If you're tired of overpriced tastings in Napa, you should definitely swing by here for great wine and cheese

Incredible! Best smorgasbord of spreads I’ve had at a winery. Amazing wine and cheese tasting. Wish we could’ve seen the animals! We’ll be back!

I have to admit that I go here strictly to visit the sweet goats and to buy their delicious goat cheese. I did a cheese tasting, without wine, it was a bit pricey, but they threw in a few extra cheeses. I guess I chowed down the tasting without even taking a pic! The chili coated cheese was great, as were all of the others. I'm looking forward to some great cheese and wine this weekend!

We did the food and wine pairing (that included a tour of the grounds first) and it was an excellent experience that exceeded our expectations. Much of that was due to our host for the tour and food/wine pairing, Shelby. She was such a welcoming, informative and knowledgeable guide, it really helped make the experience so much more enjoyable. The young chef they have on site prepared beautiful and flavorful dishes that matched well with the wines. Will definitely be going back!

Perfect spot for a lunch and tasting. The estate is beautiful and they pair their wines with very well done an delicious plates. The white PinoTrio and their 2017 Pinot Noir were the highlights. They also make cheese, amazing!

Amazing location in Anderson Valley. Chill vibe outside for wine, goat cheese and bites. Friendly staff. Highly recommend for a destination, or on the way to the coast on Hwy 128

Truly a fun place to kill some time and sample cheese and wine. What else could you ask for? Their charcuterie is excellent, with very thoughtful details, like candied raisins and pickled peas. I love the oldest of their Boont Corners goat and sheep’s milk cheese. The pink peppercorn laychee is really nice too. Solid wine pairing.

Terrible customer service and rude staff. Our friends were here on a Sunday afternoon and asked if there was room for us to join them. They were told we could sit at two barrels with stools. A few minutes after we sat down and ordered a bottle of wine, another employee told us we needed to move and couldn’t sit there. The winery was pretty empty, and there should have been no issue for us to sit near our friends. Instead, they told us we had to sit on a table outside in full sun. We decided to cancel our bottle of wine and go somewhere else that wanted our business. As we were leaving, the same woman rudely told us, “better luck next time” as we were walking out. The next place we went into was super friendly and accommodating and saved the rest of our afternoon.

Wow! Beautiful winery with patio seating. Every single wine was delicious. We decided on a bottle of pinot noir and order the deviled eggs and the estate meatballs. I have no words for how delicious they are, they must be made with magic and sorcery.

Pennyroyal has long been on my list of places to visit, but hadn't seemed to get there. Finally stopped in, without a reservation (but I still DO recommend one as this is a HOT spot). Bonnie was our server, and she was just so lovely! Knowledgable and genuine. The wines are delicious and well-priced. The experience is outstanding and food pairings are just over the top. This is a best in class example of why the Anderson Valley is the best place to taste wine in Northern California. Not only is the wine absolutely delicious up there, but the experiences are genuine. Napa and Sonoma are much more expensive--and reasonably so with cost of living for employees and cost of operation is higher. However, they live and breathe hospitality. Sometimes the Anderson Valley seems a bit too rustic in comparison, but Pennyroyal delivers an experience above most in all of Northern California wine country.

Great cheese and wine from a sustainable farm (5/5 green stars also)We stopped off here on the way to Mendocino (it’s a good stopping point if you are coming from the Bay Area) for a grilled cheese sandwich and wine tasting and also took some wine and cheese to go. The grilled cheese sandwich ($10) was very nicely made, golden brown and oozing with their delicious cheese, and came with a side of really good pickled veggies. The staff members are very friendly and approachable (i.e., not snobbish) and their outdoor seating looking out over the wine and sheep is very pleasant. The wine tasting ($5 but waived since I bought a bottle) was good – I liked the 2015 Pinot Noir Rosé ($25) and the Pinot Noir. They are getting good reviews – 91 and 92 points on Wine Enthusiast, respectively – perhaps not surprising since they are a sister vineyard to Navarro. Also picked up a wedge of their Tomme cheese (“Boont Corners”), made from goats’ milk ($9 for a decent sized wedge). They sell three different ages for this cheese and even the creamier two-month Tomme had great flavor – not as nutty as the older ones, but that’s life eh? They also have a farm-to-table cheese program.I’m also giving them 5/5 “green stars” for social and environmental impact, based on these reasons:• On their website they say, “By integrating animal husbandry and viticulture, we avoid many of the pitfalls of monoculture - each farming endeavor enhances and compliments the other.” I think this is true.• For example, they can make fertilizer from animal dung and grape skins.• Although not certified organic, a staff member told me that they don’t use pesticides or herbicides.• Cover crops are grown to attract beneficial insects.• Employees receive full-time jobs with benefits.• They have incorporated solar power into their farm.• They reclaim waste water for irrigation.• The animals look happy and are treated with care.• There was no sign of waste: the cheese is packaged simply; food was served on ceramic plates with metal utensils.Interested in writing green star reviews? Great small bites! The wine was good. The cheese was to die for! Staff was super friendly. Thank you Morgan! Oh if you have time go see the goats give them a pet and some goat food.

Excellent staff. Our host Nathan was great. Had a wonderful presentation of the wine and cheese. Even though they do not give an industry discount on the wine in the tastings it was wll worth it. Delicious pairings!

We had a tasting scheduled for 10:00 AM. We arrived at 9:55 AM and the gate was still closed, we called and someone showed up a few minutes later. Once we got in and arrived the tables , we were unsure what to do , there were no instructions. Finally a young lady said sit anywhere you want and someone will be with you shortly. A young man did come to our table and gave us the menus, but not enough for the three of us. That was no bad deal. The young man proceeded to give us instructions and we were looking at the menu to make sure we understood. Then he chastised us for looking at the menu. He seemed to be talking down to us. This just wasn’t a pleasant experience. I have been to many wineries and this is the first time I was ready to leave before we started. Maybe he was having a bad day, but I will not be back.

Only got to buy the cheese due to reservations being required for any tasting (even cheese). The Boont Corners cheese is friendly but the 5 months aged one was much more mild than the description made it appear. At almost $100/kg it was rather disappointing compared to European cheeses that cost a fraction.

This is a tough review to write. I've enjoyed their cheeses at numerous Anderson Valley wineries over the last eleven years and have recommended them many times. But on my last visit to the valley, I had an opportunity to actually visit them. Was I ever disappointed.I brought my girlfriend here, who had never been, because she really loves goat cheese. We didn't have reservations, so we were told we wouldn't be able to sit outside, as all the outside tables were reserved. Bummer, but OK, no big deal. Shortly after getting seated, I had to use the restroom, which is outside. I noticed lots of empty tables out there. Again, OK. Maybe they got a lot of people coming in soon. During our cheese and wine tasting, 4 couples arrived without reservations. All were given the choice to sit outside. Hmm ... let's see they were all Caucasian and I am not. To see it happen once, wasn't a big deal. But to see it happen 4 times, no way was that a coincidence. Sorry, but I have to call a spade a spade. This place, or at least the gal working the front, is racist. I will not be coming here again and I will not be recommending this place any more. This ruined our entire tasting. Even my girlfriend had to admit it was suspicious. Even though she enjoyed the cheese and wanted to buy some, she did not. She did not want to give them her business after what we witnessed.Bottom line, if you're a person of color don't come here. You will not be treated fairly.

The best deviled eggs I've ever had. Cheese is delicious. Charcuterie board was absolutely beautiful. The pinot was our favorite followed by the chardonnay.

Lovely facilities and grounds, friendly staff, and great wines and cheeses! It's so rare to find a winery that offers small complimentary pairings nowadays so the farm-to-table cheese tasting was special. The covered patio was perfect for watching the rain roll through the mountains and watching the sheep and goats beyond the Vineyard. The salmon crostini was my favorite meal of our entire weekend in Mendo! Have to take home a cheese or two!

After tasting the fresh goat cheese at the Harbor House Inn, we followed Inn manager Amanda’s recommendation and visited Pennyroyal Farm for some wine tasting and picking up some more amazing goat cheese. Beautiful ground & friendly staffs, hope to return next time for a farm tour!

Great cheese, wine, and staff. The Estate is beautiful. All of their cheeses were wonderful, although they didn't serve the Blue so I haven't tried it yet. I did buy some Blue retail and will have it an update soon. The wine was great too. The whites were better than the reds with the Chardonnay being the best of all.

Had an amazing experience with the cheese and wine pairings sitting in the garden. The place is beautiful. Take your time, and absorb your surroundings while they bring out the cheeses. Didn't try the food from the kitchen, but the menu looked good.

This place is the bomb. If you like wine, you must like goat cheese. They make such a variety of delicious flavors with so many types, you must explore. Their wines are good, customer service is good , their aged goat cheese is fantastic. Good Pinot and Sauvignon Blanc. A great start for exploring the Anderson Valley.
