We had dinner on Mother’s Day. We didn’t have reservations, but we did get seated a at a pretty table by the water within30 minutes. Our server was unfortunately not personable, too abrupt, and did y pay any attention to timing the meal dirty dishes left on the table, 2nd glass of wine or dessert never offered. We felt rushed at fast food pace with fine dining prices. Maybe it was just an off time because of the holiday. In fairness, the fish was fresh and very nicely cooked. The shrimp Louis salad was cold and fresh. I would go back!

After seeing the Potter Schoolhouse and the Saint Teresa of Avila Church from the 1963 "The Birds" movie, we came to have lunch at the "diner", the Tides, which was also in the movie. The hallway has great photos of the movie too. Our server, Zef, was EXCELLENT!! He was very nice, friendly and quick! I had a small bowl of clam chowder which was thick and not overpowered by too many potatoes, and a cold crab sandwich with a small salad. Very good!!! Worth going for the view and a T-shirt from the gift shop too!!

After reading the reviews I got the sense that this place may not be as bad as people say so we decided to check it out I don't know if it's because we're closer to Bay Area and there's a lot of pompous people here or what but the food was excellent! The staff was excellent...Great fresh food, great atmosphere, incredible views! We will definitely be back! I had the fresh halibut grilled. My wife had fish and chips she is a connoisseur LOL, and she said it was excellent and wants to come back next weekend...Vegetarian options: yesDietary restrictions: yesParking: Lots of parkingKid-friendliness: yesWheelchair accessibility: yes

After reading many of the negative reviews I decided to come anyway and see for myself. I had bay shrimp and crab louis it was very good with lots of shrimp and crab. If I had any complaint it would be that Romain lettuce was mixed into the salad. I felt the bitterness of it took away from the light flavor of the crab. Each of the other diners I saw were offered sourdough French bread and butter. My server was Helen she did a very good job serving me and from what I overheard from the other tables they were served well also. I would not hesitate to recommend the Tides to others.

Lunch cafe was closed, and dinner was being served in the restaurant. We opted for a light lunch elsewhere, as dinner prices seemed a little steep. We did though buy some fresh seafood to take home and cook, though I still prefer Monterey, Fort Bragg or half moon bay for fresh seafood. The building was over the ocean with views of the bay. Nice atmosphere.

The Tides Wharf and Restaurant is a popular seafood restaurant located in Bodega Bay, California. It has been in business for over 50 years and is known for its fresh, local seafood and stunning views of the bay.I recently visited The Tides Wharf and Restaurant and had a great experience. I started my meal with the fries, which were very tasty and had the right amount of seasoning. They were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. For my main course, I had the open crab sandwich. The crab was fresh and delicious, and the bread was soft and buttery. The sandwich was also very generous in size, so I was able to take some home for later.Overall, I had a great meal at The Tides Wharf and Restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was charming. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great seafood meal. Here are some specific details about the fries and open crab sandwich:The fries were made with fresh potatoes and were cooked to perfection. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and they had a nice, salty flavor. The open crab sandwich was made with fresh Dungeness crab, mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, and sourdough bread. The crab was sweet and flaky, and the mayonnaise was creamy and flavorful. The lettuce and tomato added a bit of freshness, and the sourdough bread was soft and chewy.I would definitely recommend both the fries and the open crab sandwich at The Tides Wharf and Restaurant. They are both delicious and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. They are pet friendly too and you can eat out on the patio with your dog.Update:After a second visit, the fries were vastly inferior and not the same high quality as my earlier visit. They were basically French fries with no flavor. My advice to Tides Wharf is don’t skimp on the quality of the fries.

Looks can be deceiving! NOT WORTH EVEN HALF THE PRICE!!! Very expensive for that quality of food and service. The view from the Windows was beautiful. The presentation of food was very nice. (originally). The Fish Tacos were SOGGY! My Salad was ONLY lettuce and inconsistently sliced carrots!!! Stingy with salad dressing. However, the waiter was HORRIBLE!!! Cold, rude man. I had more than a few times tried to get his attention to ask him a question about something or get a different salad dressing. More than once, the waiter tried to remove our plates before we were finished. He did not even ask us whether or not we wanted carry-out boxes for our remaining food. He didn't even ask us if we wanted a dessert. You have a choice of fries or salad with the fish, not both. For that price and quality of food, especially that 2 piece salad (over-sized pieces), it should include both!!! We originally wanted cannolis for dessert. But, after the poor service, we weren't about to ask for dessert!!! It was NOT the Birthday my husband was trying to give me. He put in the effort and money, but the price, service of the waiter, and quality of food ruined it. 😒

Many people came to the town because of the film "The Birds". We stopped at this restaurant to catch a quick dinner because it was recommended by ChatGPT ("smart idea" based on my husband, but bad idea based on the results). The location was off the main road and nicely by the waterfront. There were large windows along the sides of the dining hall, and a bar attached to it. We came at about 5pm and were quickly seated at one of the tables with a view. In addition to regular menu items, they also had daily/weekly specials written on the white board. We ordered two of the special items: deep-fried oysters (6) with fries and slaw; and linguine with prawns in light lemon butter sauce. The oysters were fresh, but the fries were not particularly crispy. The linguine dish was prepared in advance and kept in a warmer because the whole dish came in a small baking dish, and the shrimps were little hard. But what I disliked the most was that they put heavy cream in a "light lemon butter sauce"... totally not expected. I could only finish half of the serving because of the oil.Overall, the place has a good atmosphere and great views, especially if you come on a sunny day. I probably would stick with "normal items" like fried calamari (I saw it at the table next to us) or pan-seared fish with vegetables.I believe oysters are particularly popular in this area. Unfortunately, many restaurants, even the ones with good ratings, deep fry their seafood. So it's hard to find a healthier way to enjoy it.Kid-friendliness: Nice space, friendly family dining

I'll start this off with 3.5 stars. My wife and I ate here for our 30th wedding anniversary last week. I was really looking forward to it, but unfortunately, I was a little let down.We had great seating with beautiful views of the bay. We saw a big Sea Lion swimming by and birds fishing for their meals. Now, on to our meals. We started off with the Fried Calamari. Honestly, it's probably some of the worst I've had. It was completely void of flavor. Seems there was no seasoning used. It was also very tough. I know calamari is naturally on the chewy side to begin with, but I've had calamari before that was way more tender than these rubber bands we were chewing on. Hopefully, the other two styles of calamari they offer aren't this bad. Now, on to our entrees...My wife had the Tides Wharf Crab Cioppino. It consisted of crab, salmon, mussels in a "zesty Italian sauce," and garlic bread. Now, let's talk about this sauce for a second. My wife said it tasted like they opened a can of tomato soup and poured it over everything. She literally ended up scooping everything out of it and left the plate of sauce on the side. As for me, I ordered their special on that day, which was I believe a crusted halibut with peppercorns, wild rice, and steamed veggies. My meal was decent, but I wasn't wowed. It was passable. We did order dessert, but unfortunately, I forgot to take photos of it. I had a bread pudding with a caramel drizzle and vanilla ice cream. I was surprised by this one. It was delicious! My wife ordered Crème Brûlée to go. I didn't hear her complain while eating it in the car, so I guess it was ok.Our server was pretty much on top of things. She was very polite and friendly. She did have an accent so thick that I really had some difficulty understanding her. But, I'd rather deal with a language barrier than that Goodyear rubber calamari. All in all, I'd probably be hesitant on coming back again. I may have to try another spot.

Great view of the bay , excellent service too! I wanted fish tacos but couldn't eat the snapper and waitress Helen (?) Took it up on herself to ask the chef if they could do salmon instead and they did it! It was amazing! Also best chowder ever! My waitress again recommended to try it with a few dashes of Tabasco. It was even better! I will always do that from now on.

Paying 30 dollars for what is glorified cafeteria food, at best, should be illegal. you are paying for the view, the fish and chips were watery, and lacked any sort of flavor. the $20 calamari was rubbery and was a tiny serving. the steak, that was asked to be cooked medium, arrived well done, and flavorless. not to mention there were only two servers serving the 10+ busy tables. they were clearly very stressed and had a hard time splitting time between each table. come here if you want a good view, but if you want good food you’re better off staying home, saving some money, and making box mac n cheese.

We will not be returning to this establishment. The drinks were fairly priced and decent. Atmosphere was good but that’s where the positives end.Waitress cut my buddy off bears because he talks louder than the average man but meanwhile there was a shirtless guy sitting at the table next to us telling us he’ll fight us.Food was not good and overpriced. I had the fish tacos. They were bland and by the time they came out of the kitchen were falling completely apart when eating. My buddy ordered a burger which was average at best.My girlfriend ordered a NE clam chowder and calamari. Fishetarian has better chowder at a better price. Calamari was decent. All in all I would not recommend this place unless you want to sit and have a drink by the bay.

My husband I decided to have dinner here on a spontaneous day trip to Bodega Bay. It didn't take long to get seated on a Saturday afternoon. Service was friendly and attentive. We ordered the seafood sampler for appetizer and all the seafood tasted so fresh. Drinks from the bar were delicious and quick. After finishing at our table, we headed over to the dessert counter and took a few items to go. Their royal cookie is scrumptious.

Service was friendly and attentive and the view was awesome! I had the open face crab sandwich with fries. The sandwich needed more seasoning and the fries tasted like that had been heated in the microwave. My husband had the salmon, which he said was delicious! I would probably dine here again when in Bodega Bay.
