You have to go here if you visit Bodege Bay. We are obsessed with this place. Some of the biggest ice cream scoops I have ever had. Captain Davey himself works behind the counter and he does not fool around. He was giving it his all scooping ice cream for me and making amazing coffee with his very nice-looking espresso machine. If I lived here I would come once a week. This is a small place and its only one man so if you can go in the middle of the day you will avoid a line. There is not a lot of seating. The hot dog place next door let us use their bathroom.

We went to Captain Davey's for Ice Cream based on the overall 4.7 reviews of "great ice cream."If you like Yuban coffee rather than real coffee, you'll enjoy the oddly textured and tasteless ice cream served here just like the good old days of poor quality ice cream.If you've come to enjoy Scoops in Fairfax or Strauss Creamery, or any of the multitude of high quality ice cream shops in the Marin/Sonoma area, then give the Captain a hard pass.I literally tossed the two scoops of ice cream into the trash after trying several spoons. The texture reminded me of the wood putty I used the prior day as it actually stretched like goop as you pulled the spoon away, it didn't melt in your mouth like good ice cream, and it had no discernable flavor of the coffee or pistachio scoops I bought. Certainly no joy from eating it, unless you just like cold stuff.Service was slow, as only one person is handling everything, and two groups walked away. The line gave me high hopes as it was definitely Scoops like, although not as fast moving, but sadly no payoff for waiting. It was a hot day, so thus the line.It's an off beat location next to the post office and a hot dog joint, but pleasant being right on the bay and off the beaten path of the two major tourist wharfs.Too bad the ice cream is so bad, and I suspect the espresso and coffee is just as poor from the aroma of the pull the prior customer got.Step up your game, Captain.

Amazing place in bodega bay. We were visiting bodega bay and this place came up in our search so decided to give it a go. Tried affogato expresso with Kona ice cream, it was really good. The place is very popular so you can expect a line formed outside once you get there, it took about 45 mins for us to get inside but it was worth the wait.

Out at the coast spotted the sign for coffee/🍨. Decided to stop. Found a bench along the harbor to sit down. Customers in front of us all walked out with ice cream and smiles! I passed on ice cream choosing a breve latte instead. Delicious. Enjoyed time here sipping a latte and chatting with an old friend.Parking: Small mall, a hot dog shop and post office share a 20+ space lotKid-friendliness: Kids love ice cream right? Outside space to sit or walk along the harbor on a low traffic street.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes

Unique place for espresso with ice cream. Ordered expresso with Kona coffee ice cream and iced coffee. Iced coffee was okay okay but expresso with ice cream was worth the wait. We had to stand in a line for 40 mins so be prepared to wait.

Delicious ice cream and unique ice cream concoctions (eg an espresso shot and a scoop of vanilla ice cream). This was a great spot for a quick dessert and view of the bay. Mix of locals and vacationers. Parking can be tricky sometimes.Nice staff, but expect a line. Solid prices too.

This shop is a great place to grab some ice cream to eat! Though it might be a little small, their flavors taste delicious. I personally recommend their chocolate chip flavor, which tastes different from when I ate it at Baskin Robins, as I enjoyed eating the cookie dough a lot more here than at Baskin Robins. Five stars, really recommend this place to anybody that's in Bodega Bay and likes ice cream!

I love my fish and chips I've I never eat it unless it is Icelandic cod or red snapper. But my daughter and her boyfriend took me and my wife there yesterday and they were small pieces of fish crispy very well done perfect. As I bit into my piece I knew right away it was not Icelandic cod. So I asked my daughter what it was she didn't know went in and asked the guy and it was rock cod. I can tell the difference right off the bat I am not a giant fish eater that's why I've always stuck with Icelandic cod or red snapper or even tilapia. But I want you to know I was amazed it was excellent. Also we were given tartar sauce vinegar malt vinegar salt and pepper everything we needed for our meal without having to ask even a little cup for our ketchup and slice lemon. Would I go back in a heartbeat excellent excellent place. Great day at the beach great food.

Monday, 9/06/2021 - Since we're on HWY 1, we decided to get some ice cream sat Captain Davey's. The strawberry ice cream tasted fresh and good. Actually, they all tasted good. The fudge Sunday was a little disappointing tho. Chocolate was just that Hershey's chocolate that comes in a squeeze bottle. Not fudge. They we out of several ice creams. Overall, the rest of ice cream we had was good and the server was very nice.

My go 2 place for my morning mocha and my kids ice cream cones in the afternoon :) staff is super friendly and service is quick! You must stop at this little ice cream spot when you come to the beach! They have flavors for everyone and espresso always at the ready!

Amazing ice cream served by an even more amazing staff! Be sure to always stop by captain Daveys while you visit Bodega Bay! They have coffee and ice creams available. Mt favorite is their rainbow sorbet and the cookies and cream! I love their selection! A must stop while in Bodega Bay! They are off Smith Brothers road near the post office!

We got a hot fudge, two-scoop chocolate and peanut butter chocolate and one cobe of chocolate chip mint. The ice cream was very thick, rich and delicious. The serving portions are very generous as well. If you're planning a trip up or down the coast on hwy 1, plan on stopping here for a nice treat!!

Small yet great place to get some dessert during a trip to Bodega Bay. First time coming here was today, and we were impressed with the milkshakes. I'm not sure if Davey is his real name, I didn't ask, but he's super polite, and doesn't waste time getting your sweet tooth taken care of.
