Wow! We stayed in The Cove and it was wonderful. The views were unreal. We had the four course meal our second night and loved the service from Krista. She was friendly, organized, and had a deep understanding of the menu. She gave great drink recommendations- I loved the lime beer!Other service standouts were Yzzy, Aja, and Korey. It’s one thing to provide amazing accommodations and another to have a staff who put customer service and connection first. Highly recommend!

Every aspect of the resort that is not the product of the owner's imagination or crafting is great. The scenery, excellent. The yurts, phenomenal.Every aspect of the resort that is the product of the owner's imagination or crafting is terrible. The food is horrendously overpriced and its not even that good. Breakfast optionsbare terrible. And do not let them trick you into spending $450 on a sushi dinner for two. Its not worth it.Ultimately, I will stay here again; but I will bring my own food. The resort is great except the food and the pricea of the food.

If, while guiding yourself to the the common bathroom with a tiny flashlight at 2 AM on a 50 degree night, you should find yourself wondering why you paid around $400/night for this, remind yourself that "roughing it" in style isn't cheap. It's a great place to stay, as long as you understand what you signed up for. Also understand that the advertised views are subject to the whims of nature and may or may not be available, depending on when you go.

I was here at the end of October 😬 Sorry it’s taking me so so long to write this review and I cannot wait to return.I so enjoyed staying here for three nights at one of the campsite, even though it might have been chilly at night the days were perfect. They have heated yurts for the romantic and if you can splurge. The resort was just right for what I needed, a little solitude without the hassle of cooking, as they have breakfast & the restaurant, communal style showers, with some quiet hikes, spectacular views of the Pacific ocean, or enjoying the wildlife on this private resort. Not forgetting it has for its guest, a swimming pool & much more. It’s a total gem!

I was incredibly excited to stay here, but eh! This place is insanely overpriced. Despite being about as nice and spacious as I suppose a yurt can get - we still paid $475 a night to share a bathroom with the entire campsite and basically reside in a glorified tent. In my opinion, this is a one night stay kind of resort - perfect if you're making your way down Highway 1 and want to stop one more time before you hit San Luis Obispo. Unfortunately, they require two night stays. The food is also crazy expensive even accounting for California prices and we felt bamboozled by the staff into paying for the $110 per person (with tip and tax) four-course prix fix menu both nights we stayed. The reservation site makes it seem like there are limited spots and you won't get a meal if you don't book. In reality, we were sitting in a practically empty dining room both evenings. The second day we were there I asked if I needed to make a reservation or if we could just show up and sit. I was told "reservations are always recommended". It's just a scam to get you to pay for the prix-fix versus ordering off the readily available ala carte menu. I will say the food itself was decent other than our steaks the second evening that were so tough they were almost inedible. We wanted to try the sushi restaurant which is supposed to be amazing (It better be for $209 per person) but it books up quickly).Last, and this is out of the resort's control - but the weather at the end of June when we visited was foggy and cold. Despite the beauty of the natural surroundings we weren't able to enjoy any of the beautiful coastal views that come with nicer weather. We were told by staff that this is pretty par for the course in that part of Big Sur outside of late September and October. In addition, Highway 1 was closed just north of the resort. This was communicated to us before our stay - but not being natives we had no idea how long of a detour this was going to require. We were coming from the Carmel area and basically had to drive into the park 30 miles to see the north of Big Sur and then drive back out and loop completely around via Highway 101 South to get to Treebones - which meant a 4 hour drive versus the 39 miles we had planned. All in all just not an ideal time to stay at the place.I'd recommend you only come here if you can pick up a quick last minute reservation when you know the weather is going to be beautiful, versus booking in advance.

This place was SOOO GREAT! Everyone was so friendly and the location was perfect. We did part of our honeymoon trip here and I can totally see us coming back. I'd recommend eating dinner in the restaurant at least once. Melissa, our sever, was super cool and we had some tea by the fireplace that came from her garden. 👌 10/10 would recommend. Great hiking and beaches in the area too.

The views and peacefulness here were blissful. We did a camp site at the end of the property, and highly recommend it. The staff were so helpful and friendly. They took all our gear to the site for us and waved and chatted whenever we saw them. The showers felt like a resort hotel and were very clean. The gift shop sells adorable gifts for reasonable prices. I snagged a mini cross stitch kit and zenned out with that all weekend. They also serve breakfast lunch and dinner. The food was decent, not the best meal I’ve ever had, but good. Pricey though, but it’s Big Sur and you’re paying for the views. It does get very foggy and cold at night, so definitely bring a tent that is large enough that your sleeping bag isn’t against the wall of the tent - the condensation made everything damp. We absolutely adored this magical place and will be back!

Treebones Resort is absolutely stunning. My wife and I stayed here on the 4th of July and just that single night of being completely disconnected, in nature, between the oceans and mountains restored something within our souls. We spent quite a few hours at night just looking up at the sky - once the fog diminished, we were able to see more stars than we ever have before. Not to mention, the food in the main lodge was all great, and the gift shop was full of great local goods. The only thing that made us unhappy was we didn’t get to stay longer, so we are already planning on going back ASAP!!

We thoroughly enjoyed the treehouse. Perfect balance between being in nature and having the comfort of modern life( i.e.heater and a bed). The view and the experience was fantastic!!!!!!! Great location to disconnect since none of the rooms offer wifi. We literally lost track of time while we were there. We dined at the restaurant one night and it was totally worth it. You could taste the freshness of the produce grown on the property. They also offer free tea and coffee which was really good.Highly recommended for anyone looking to disconnect!

Incredible experience, the feeling of family and warmth that wraps around you like a blanket the moment you arrive. We happened to be there for a special community concert and the place was alive with magic! Headed to Yoga each day and stayed in the Twig Hut - not a yurt! highly recommend the outdoor space at the Twig Hut is cozy and on the north end of the property - if you have sensitive ears - the sea lions are loud at night when they are the only thing going - the night sky was fantastic. Don't miss the sushi dinner with Yancy and DJ - quite a team. Will be back as soon as I can get a reservation!

Wow this place is unique. Love the garden, service, and the food is good. Everything is from their garden. I had the tofu lettuce wraps with mint, basil, lettuce with this amazing fresh sauce. Yummy! The other nice thing is that all the guest are super nice so you meet a lot of other couples. In the morning they serve breakfast with an expresso or cappuccino machine! It’s included in the price. At dusk, go outside the restaurant and enjoy the view - it’s beautiful. Their hot tub and pool is heated so don’t forget to take a dip and enjoy the view. The yurts are very nice inside with a gas stove, sink, hardwood floors with extra special touches like ginger soap, social wine glasses with an opener! We had an amazing time there and can’t wait to book it for next year.

This was a truly spectacular experience and place to stay. We went all out and adventurous and did the Twig Hut in the middle of December. We had no rain, so other than brining a lot of blankets to stay warm, it was a truly awesome experience. Amazing view from the hut, and truly unique.Beyond the Twig Hut itself, the resort is spacious and beautiful with gorgeous views everywhere. The heated pool and spa is super nice and centrally located, and certainly made a nice sunset spot on a cold winter day.But oh my the food! From the Sushi tasting menu, to the wood fired pizza at the main restaurant, this was just some of the best food I've had period! You MUST do the Sushi tasting experience as it's simply divine. A small, intimate setting with only a few people and a wonderful chef and sous chef to chat with and provide you with the best tasting sushi you could find. Simply one of the best tasting, and most fun meals we've ever had.On the 2nd night we did the main resturant and had two of the pizzas. They were both tasty and delicious, but the meat pizza with the spicy Fresno peppers was one of the best I've ever had. Can't recommend it enough! If you're looking for an upscale outdoor resort, with some truly fine cuisine I can't recommend Treebones enough!

We loved spending time at this resort. We’ve been twice and stayed at two different spots on property. The sushi restaurant is great. It’s an intimate, tasty, and fun tasting menu experience. The full body 70-min massage I had from Tom was incredible!!!! The pool is heated and there is a small hot tub too. Breathtaking sunset views, dozens of great hikes nearby. Highly recommend.

My experience staying at Treebones was exactly what I needed! Relaxing in the warm sun in the late afternoon and evening by the pool, the delicious food, my yurt was great and only steps from the lodge/bathroom. I was forewarned that there may be noises heard from the early morning crew into Yurt #2 for breakfast since It is directly next to the lodge. I didn’t hear anything. Instead waking up to the birds and gentle breeze.

AMAZING!! Very cool experience. Area is very relaxing. Awesome views. Stayed in the yurt. What a treat!!!Breakfast was high quality and highly recommend doing the sushi dinner! Indescribably delicious!!! Totally worth it!Tip: buy a bottle of wine from the bar and they can have it available for your dinner. Definitely enjoy the whole bottle with your partner over dinner. It’s quite the experience!

Loved this place! Best sleep of our 10 day California trip. We stayed in Yurt 1, right next to the lodge and had amazing views of the ocean as well as a quick walk to the toilets. Clean facilities and nice amenities. Breakfast is included and while simple it was perfect for us. Loved the waffles! The hot tub and heated pool are open til 9 and offer amazing views while you enjoy their warmth. Its a small kind of paradise here. The staff was great, informative, and totally accommodating. We even enjoyed the morning yoga class before hitting the road on our last day. Highly recommend, even with the extra travel time it takes to visit right now!

This place is one of the most wonderful, magical places on earth. Experiencing Big Sur from a cozy yurt is absolutely the most magical way to do it. They enforce quiet and darkness here so you really get to hear the wind through the trees and see the stars in the night sky. I hadn't seen the milky way in years until I came here. Unforgettable moments await you here at Treebones.

amazing resort and fantastic views. stayed in the nest for my birthday. The nest can get pretty cold and windy but the view is unbeatable. there is a small campsite nearby you can set up a tent with also amazing views. it is pretty close to the main building where there is a restaurant with delicious burgers. pool and hot tub are also wonderful. staff is super friendly. bathrooms are well maintained along with showers. highly recommend to stay here, was an unbeatable experience.

Warning—the kitchen changed and the food is now terrible. We first came in Feb 2022 and the food was amazing. We went back in Aug 2022 and the food was truly awful. The menu has 3 terrible sandwiches and a plain salad. They don’t even have fries, just bagged chips. I asked front desk about it and they said the kitchen changed. I got the fish sandwich—it wasn’t very warm and tasted fishy. Got food poisoning the same night.

We stayed at one of the tent sites (112 I think) and it was spectacular! Good view of the ocean and good privacy. What was really nice was that we got the same amenities as the yurts but at a fraction of the cost. Really felt like a resort, I would stay again! Bathroom and shower facilities were nice, too.

The place was beautiful, and we had an amazing time on our anniversary in March. The first night we had a delicious dinner at the restaurant and I highly recommend it. Unfortunately, we were not as excited about the sushi dinner. It was very little food and we ended up spending over $580 when the night was finished. We eat sushi often, and were disappointed. However, the sushi chefs were very personable and fun. Everything else was wonderful, including people who worked there.

Beautiful, serene, magical. Some of my best days and nights. Everything is absolutely perfect and I can’t wait to get back to Big Sur. If I could, I would love there. My family and I loved our stay so much! Perfect for mature teenagers, not so much for little kids in my opinion.
