Such a beautiful idyllic campsite! The campgrounds have a beach access trail that crosses a creek, roosting Turkey Vultures in the neighboring trees, views of swimming sea otters, and some hiking trails are just across the street. Could have easily spent more time here, and would love to come again. This campsite is worth all the great reviews! The camp hosts were kind and quick to check us in, informing us that we should watch for ticks and secure all food in our car because raccoons could get into our food containers lol but those were the main things to watch out for!

Just came back from camping at Kirk Creek. One of the most beautiful campgrounds I have ever been to.Awesome view of Pacific Ocean and beautiful sun set. Very clean. Bathrooms were clean too. Well maintained camp ground. Lushest green campsites.Staff were very friendly and welcoming.Keep up the good works. 👏👏👏❤️Walkability: Easy to go around.

Awesome place. Pure magical. However could be easily ruined by camp hosts running their generator 24/7. Yes, all night long with tent campers right beside them. I had friends stay there a month prior and that was their experience as well. Bathrooms weren't attended or cleaned in my entire weekend visit. Camp hosts need to look up definition of "host".

It is an excellent campground location for our cycling base . Our stay was fantastic this weekend thanks to camp host duo of Brent and Kirstan providing excellent hospitality and keeping the campground and bathrooms cleaned 5 stars award . They are so friendly and always checking to help make sure everyone camping there is good and give us extra insights in this surrounding area .

My parents, Dorne and Eloise, were campground hosts there about forty something years ago. They loved living there, and we loved visiting them. Beautiful place right on the ocean. They watched whales there.

The best campground we’ve stayed in- truly remarkable location, nicely dispersed, and in many cases, “private” sites. No water here, but available 5 miles south at sister campsite. All sites have clear view of sky (good solar and Starlink). The hosts are wonderful, organized and really helpful. As the road is closed 2 miles North, we had to come down through Paso Robles and up the 1- did it at night with a 30’ TT….we were lucky there was almost no oncoming traffic, I wouldn’t recommend once the Northern road opens. There’s a great hike right across the road, amazing beaches and sunrises/sunsets. We lucked into spot 22, best in the campground, it was magical!

The most incredible views of any campground I’ve ever been to. Every single site has a view of the ocean. We stayed at site 7 which was a bit small, really only room for one tent and no shade. But we did have privacy from our neighbors. Everyone respected the quiet hours which was absolutely amazing. I wish the campground made a shortcut trail to the bathroom because taking the road is rather long from our site. It’s a vault toilet, no sink, it’s kept fairly clean and always stocked. We took the extremely overgrown trail (starts next to site 9) to the beach. It was worth the effort but definitely cover your extremities. I hope they clean it up at some point. The camp host was a very nice man. They sell bundles of wood for $15, but we grabbed ours in Cambria for half the price (the camp host didn’t stay overnight but was available 9-6). Raccoons run wild at night and want your food so beware. One tried to open our cooler. Keep food in your car and take out your trash to the available cans. We only stayed two nights but I wish we had more time because it was so incredible. The sunset, stargazing, the hikes, all of it was magnificent.Nearby activities: Hiking

I could not rave about this place anymore…. The views ….semi private campsites not too smelly toilets … the trail to the beach was a lil overgrown with poison ivy but we just had a very wet early start to the year so pretty expected….. Mo and Jo are great hosts!!!! I stayed for a total of 5 days.. I will return!!!!Nearby activities: Beach and trails

Possibly the best campsite in all of California. Good luck getting a reservation. Stellar access to one of the best hikes in all of Big Sur. Just stunning!Walkability: Yeah, you can walk around Big Sur.

We came upon this incredible campground 18 years ago and have wanted to return. We finally made it! And it is as beautiful as we remembered. The view cannot be beat! Admittedly, our 35' fifth wheel is a bit on the large size for the campground. The roads are narrow and while it is fairly open - there are rocks and occasional curbs which make it more challenging in places. This also made backing in to spaces more challenging. Remember that the length stated on the website is trailer AND tow vehicle space. Most of the spaces have a great view, as it is nicely laid out and sites are reasonably spaced. Hosts were congenial and helpful. Note there is no wifi or cell service here or for about 30 minutes north and south. Poison oak is abundant, so watch yourself on the trail to the beach. We had site 6 which we fit in and had a great view. Make sure to come with water - there is none here, nor is there a dump station. Good price with America the Beautiful pass.

We stayed in the hiker-biker campsite D two weeks ago and had an amazing time. The campsite was clean and was well maintained. It over looks the sea cliffs and has access to a beautiful rocky beach. It also is right next to a great trail head. We did about 6-7 miles on it. Dara, the camp host was the sweetest camp host ever. She was so kind and generous. Always checking in and making sure we had a great time was an obvious priority. I’ve never had a more genuinely happy and nice camp host! Highly recommend.Ps, we got the hiker-biker site by walking up at 1:30 same day!

an amazing experience. the campground is situated right on the coast, with breathtaking views of the ocean and surrounding cliffs. the sites are spacious and well-maintained, with plenty of trees for shade and privacy.there are a number of hiking trails in the area, including the nearby sand dollar beach, which is a great spot for swimming and sunbathing. the campground also has easy access to highway 1, making it a convenient base for exploring the beautiful big sur coastline.one thing to keep in mind is that the campground is first-come, first-served, so it can be hard to get a spot during peak season. also, there are no showers or flush toilets, so be prepared for rustic camping.overall, i would highly recommend kirk creek campground to anyone looking for a peaceful and scenic camping experience on the central california coast. it's truly a special place that i can't wait to return to.

This campground is absolutely amazing. We just spent 2 nights and were fortunate enough to have site 22 with amazing ocean and cliff views and a large tree for shade. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. Kudos to campground hosts Doug, Shannon and their adorable puppy Wookiee for a lovely stay!

We arrived in the early evening during dense mist. However, it was somehow 'mist'ical. The great seascape and location revealed itself the next morning. It was absolutely gorgeous. Ground is comfi to camp. Some bunnies hop around. We had no network connection, for us no problem but be aware of this. Also no grocery stores in the surroundings.

We had to write a review on this campground. I’ve never experienced anything like I have at Kirk creek. We stayed at Kirk Creek for 1 week. We were blown away by the kindness and hospitality of the campground hosts. Dara and David seemed like they were working all the time! Circling at least every hour checking on each guest, bringing firewood, answering everyone’s questions, I’m sure the same ones over and over. Nothing but smiles from our hosts. Very knowledgeable of the area, which definitely came in handy because our plans had to change and we would have wasted so much gas to find that out. Thanks to Dara we didn’t have to make that drive, instead she told us other trails that were actually open, which whales to watch for, great surfing spots, and so much more. The campground was pristine! Each site was well maintained, groomed and trash free. The bathrooms were the CLEANEST bathrooms we've ever experienced at a campground before... even smelled kinda nice! We were so happy to be able to stay here and will definitely becoming back!Cheers to the campground hosts! They deserve two high-fives and at least a really nice lunch from management! You don’t find host like this very often. It was a pleasure to meet them.

The camp ground experience here is indescribable with words. You are literally right on the Big Sur Coast. The scenery is phenomenal. The weather was amazing during the summer time. I believe you have to reserve a camp spot ahead of time. Luckily there were open spots that My friends and I were able to get through first come first serve. There are several trails that lead down to the waters and the sunset definitely made this trip a 12 out of 10 experience.

The campground hosts, Shannon and Doug, were simply amazing. We loved our stay at this magical place. Raccoons are an issue. They need to upgrade their trash bins. The raccoons banged on them throughout the night. Not sure why the owners don’t have better trash cans on site. Both days we were there the raccoons succeeded breaking into the Cans and there was trash littered everywhere during my morning walk. Otherwise… What a wonderful little piece of heaven 🌲

Beautiful location. Primitive camping (pit toilet, no lights) but water can be purchased in 16 & 64oz from host. Tried to stay in H/B site as a bike tourist but people drive up, unload there cars and park on the street and claim the H/B sites which they are not. Luckily the host didn't turn us away but it's a shame the policies aren't enforced. Beware of the Raccoons they are bold and will laugh at you as they eat any food you leave out

I love this place, beautiful all around. Poison oak is everywhere, the camp host takes cash or credit, very friendly and helpful. Knowledgeable about the area, hiking trails, printed maps of area, she will allow you to take a picture of …showed what whales are mating this time of year, knew what trails where open and closed. Views, surf points that were the best. Dara and David were the host. Not a day use area, sites 9- 22 are the best. Clean camp ground, pit Toilets, Amazing adventure.

My friends and I were lucky enough to snag one of the “first come” spots on our Big Sur road trip. This site is the perfect location with amazing views! A nice stream runs by it and a short path down to the shoreline makes for some nice activities while hanging at the campground. Dara and David were so kind and welcoming right away we felt at home! They gave us some great advice about what to do (and not do) in the area it was super helpful. I’ve stayed at a lot of campgrounds and never had camp hosts as great as these two! They honestly made our stay so amazing!! They also had great advice on surf spots so if you plan to surf then pick their brains about it!Firewood for sale on site. Also bunnies!! We will definitely be coming back to camp here because of Dara and David!

One of the most gorgeous beachfront campgrounds in CA on the breathtaking Big Sur coast. Truly fantastic hosts; Dara was so friendly, kind, and kept the campground looking beautiful. No running water here so there is a feeling of "roughing it," but the pit toilets are kept very clean. We felt so lucky to get a great spot on the 4th of July and the campground was quiet and serene - exactly what we wanted!

Dara and David the camp hosts at this campsite were super friendly and welcoming when we rolled up hoping there might be last minute availability. Couldn’t ask for a better location, sites and toilets were well maintained. This was one of our favorite stops this trip and we’d definitely recommend for anyone traveling through this beautiful coastline. 🌊☀️

Visited for one week with a campsite reservation for site 22. Best site, imo. It’s at the end with a large tree providing shade and privacy from the only neighbor. Also, nice overlook to the shore below the cliff. And it’s at the lowest end of the park making it less windy and closer to the sound of the waves. It had a level drive and was easy to back into because the road curves just past the site. This is a 5 star campground for the amazing views, lots of nearby sites and hikes, clean vault toilets and friendly hosts. But it’s important to know going in that there are no showers and no water and there is a lot of poison oak in the area to watch out for.

Dara was a fabulous and very accommodating host for our group. We arrived without a reservation and she was able to fit us in and also let us use the fire pit and tables. She checked in to make sure we were comfy and we’re so grateful. It’s a beautiful campsite with ocean view, bathrooms, trash and recycling cans, etc.
