This is my first time rating a place 5 ⭐️ with NO HESITATION. Worth every penny! Would have looooved to have stayed there for MONTHS! It’s so close to hicking trains, has the best breakfast and lunch options. Service is the BEST and you get plenty of privacy in rooms. Fireplace was so cute! Showers are the CLEANEST and floors are heated - what a beautiful experience. Thank YOU!Rooms: So clean and spacious!Nearby activities: Hicking in Julia Pfeiffer park was absolutely worth it! Go, find the abandoned tin house! It’s worth it 💚Safety: Very safe

Arrived after driving all day with my baby to head to big sur for my birthday... we had to hustle as they said nobody would be there to check us in after 9pm. Got there and got the keys (front desk person was nice at least!), found the cabin and it was very, very cold inside. The fireplace was unfortunately decorative or broken because no heat came out, the heater in the place was kind of a joke... took hours to get it to a baseline temp where we could take one of our layers off but had to sleep in sweats and wool socks... This was a bummer since I had to get baby transferred to bed immediately and we could see our breathe inside :/ luckily the heated floors in the bathroom warmed up faster, I ended up hanging out in there with my husband and chatting since the rest of the place was too cold lol. Luckily we had some laughs and made the most of it! I had to kill a couple big spiders in the bed before putting baby to sleep. I was expecting it to be quite a bit bigger but it was definitely the small side. For a third of the price I would have been happy but we paid around 1300 to stay in a freezing little cabin with a fake fireplace for 12 hours. The tub in the back looked lovely though! Didn't get a chance to use it but it's probably the highlight of the cabin.I've stayed at a -lot- of hotels and airbnbs and was expecting quite a bit more for the price. If you're looking for a 5 star hotel experience this is not what you'll get but we did pay a 5 star price! Overall the place is cute but really not worth the money...but maybe you'd have better luck than us?Quick add: Everywhere you go in big sur is magical. I've done a lot of camping and backpacking here, stayed at Ventana a couple times, rented airbnbs and stayed at esalen 4 times in their king rooms/yurts. I was a bit disappointed with my stay at glen oaks considering what you could get elsewhere but regardless... it's all magic everywhere you go so just use your gut.

Glen Oaks Big Sur is serene and peaceful, a perfect getaway spot. Stayed for 3 nights and have nothing but kind words to say about the staff/service, the accommodations, location (close to breathtaking views, private trails, and iconic restaurants). Came here to celebrate my wife’s birthday and they were kind enough to surprise us with a bottle of sparkling wine. Highly recommend it!Rooms: Clean space with heated bathroom floors. Gas fire place, Yeti mugs, and classic board games were a nice touch.Nearby activities: Private TrailFood & drinks: Complimentary half bottle of wine and daily coffee/donut.

Wonderful experience! I really enjoyed the free morning coffee at their Roadhouse restaurant. The fire pits are so cute and calming! I stayed at a lodge room close to reception desk, not a cabin. We still had our own outdoor mini table! And the rooms have free yoga mats to use while here. Indoor fireplace was nice too, I still used it on a summer night for the ambiance. Great light hiking/walking trails for Glen Oaks guests only around the property. One thing.. we came back late after having dinner at Fernwood Tavern (lots of great dinner spots less than 15 minutes away) and there were no parking spots left but we improvised and parked at the gas station next door.

We stayed here for three nights on a birthday trip. It. Was. Amazing. My wife is a lifelong professional event planner so I know when to let her do her thing, and this was a winner. Check-in was easy and the room was available on time. Complimentary wine in the room is a nice touch, the gas fireplace was lovely, and the room was spectacular.Bathroom with a great shower and heated floors was a nice touch. There's not much in the way of restaurants so the affiliated Big Sur Roadhouse across the street was a welcome surprise. Basic but good food and nice service. We checked in with Nicole, and I am sorry to the reviewer who had a bad experience on the phone with her. We found her chatty, quirky, and warm. We will 100% be back.

We stayed here for part of our honeymoon! The room we stayed in was the Sky View room. We utilized the soaking tub and stared at the redwoods above us. We didn’t get a chance to use the fire pit but appreciated having the option. As guests you also get free doughnuts at the Roadhouse in the morning. It was perfect! The only negatives were that the PCH south of us, the beach and many hikes were closed because of the storm that had happened in January & when asking the front desk for hike recommendations she mostly recommended ones that were in Carmel and not in Big Sur which I thought was silly. We ended up chatting to some older ladies who gave us better hike recommendations in Big Sur.

Glen Oaks was such a treat! The rooms were so thoughtfully equipped with all your needs from yoga mats to yeti tumblers and heated/cooled floors in the bathroom. After a long day exploring it was so lovely to come back and be able to walk trails on site amongst the red woods and relax by the river. As an added bonus you can enjoy s'mores by the outdoor fire pit every night. I can't wait to stay here again! Everything was clean and close to all the best hiking trails.

Staff are warm, friendly, and responsive. Our room was spacious and housekeeping was excellent. Grounds are beautiful and birds were singing in the morning. We wish the shades pulled up from the bottom of the window so that we could let light into the rooms without our bodies being visible from the parking lot. We will return.

Words cannot describe how absolutely beautiful this hotel is. We happened to stay at the River View cabin and it left us speechless. The cabin itself was very charming. Location was very quiet and with the sound of the rain was just magical. I understand it is pretty pricy at $885 for one night but very worth it. The service was top notch and I would definitely splurge to visit again without a doubt. 10/10!!

This is one of those perfect hotels that I want to keep a secret… but I have to leave a review because I want everyone else to experience it’s magic. What makes it special isn’t grandeur or in-your-face-fanciness. It’s all the little details that were so thoughtfully put together that make this place special. The heated bathroom floors, black makeup towels, Brita in the fridge, free half bottle of wine in the room, s’mores in the evening, comfy bed with crisp sheets, free coffee and a donut across the street in the morning, walking loop around the property that is just lovely in the morning.. not to mention the cute little fireplace in the room. All the little details make this place a joy to wake up to. And the yeti tumblers in the room! Being able to walk around the property with some coffee or wine in hand is absolute perfection. We booked the basic queen room in the Adobe motor lodge and I was worried it would be too small (due to a previous review) but there are big drawers to put your clothes in so I felt there was plenty of room!I spent my birthday here and can’t wait to come back.

Stay here for 1 night on our way to SF. This lodge hotel is beautiful, within a peaceful and green surrounding. It has a fireplace and heated floor tiles in bathroom and the room is well equipped with essentials such as coffee & tea, hot chocolate, half bottle of red wine and yoga mats - all complementary from the hotel. Love it!

This is the cabin-like lodge that my friends and I stayed. The rooms are very cozy but clean. The lodge isn't cheap but it will serve you well if you can't stay in cheap motel-like hotels but are looking tidy and clean rooms. The lodge's location is also very convenient to explore Big Sur. Most of attractions in Big Sur are within the 5 to 10 mile radius from this location.Considerations:- This lodge isn't cheap, but nothing in Big Sur is cheap too.- I espcially enjoyed the warm bathroom floor which was a big plus for me when I was using it.- The Roadhouse Restaurant gives a free donut and coffee (per each guest) if you are staying at this lodge. Donuts are okay I thought.- This lodge has some rooms (not sure if all of the rooms have it) with a built-in fireplace. I thought this was a huge plus since I do enjoy sitting by the fireplace and chilling out a bit.

Incredible area and kind people at this spot. Unfortunately, our room was right up against the highway which meant that we woke to sounds of traffic. In fact, it was noisier than the room we had come from in San Francisco. The hotel did not seem full so it would have been nice for them to upgrade us. It was still a lovely spot - just don’t expect to have a true escape if you’re in a room along the highway.

We stayed for 2 nights in December 2021. We were in room 16. The room is nice and spacious with a sitting area that has a small sofa. It is modern but still has a rustic feel. We like the modern nice looking fireplace that turns on/off with a switch and keeps the room very warm. There is a small private outdoor area with a couple chairs and table also.Room 16 is right next to highway 1 so it is very noisy. See the uploaded room map. The rooms on the left side of the map near the Big Sur River are in the woods, very private and quiet. There is a private walking trail there which is a nice walk in the woods without having to go far. The rooms on the right side of the map is where the office is and feels more like a motel. I would guess that the rooms further back like room 5 or 6 might not hear as much highway 1 noise. There are 2 restaurants within steps of the Glen Oaks but they both only open for breakfast and lunch. There are not too many choices for restaurants or groceries. If you want to stay in Big Sur, Glen Oaks is a good choice. Otherwise, staying further north like Carmel or Monterey would give you a lot more choices of lodging and food.

Glen Oaks is perfectly located in Big Sur just north of Pfeiffer State Park. The rooms are well appointed and the bathroom had a heated floor! Perfect for those cold nights. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of Big Sur. The shower had fantastic water pressure. There are private trails on the grounds; we saw two deer as we did our short hike. The staff is very friendly and does everything to make your stay comfortable. They have fresh tea, coffee, and water available in the lobby. Along with s'mores kits and a few board games. Perfect for relaxing after a day of hiking. The only downside was the bed, which was a little too soft and springy for us. Also, we were unable to charge our hybrid because the charging station was usually blocked by other cars. This is a great lodging option for those who enjoy modern comforts.

Beautiful location in the Redwoods, nice little cabins with a fireplace outside, but I found the place overpriced for what is is. We chose a cabin for 2 nights to be on our own. The cabin is neat but very small, no place to seat inside (we had good weather in January, but it is dark at five and cold at night), bathroom decent no more. No form of breakfast available. 1/2 a bottle of wine "complimentary" but undrinkable. Staff hardly polite.A beautiful place, could be fantastic, but needs seriously to adjust the service to justify the prices.

Loved almost everything about the Glen Oaks Motor Lodge. Decor is hip, fire pit with complimentary s’mores was a great touch, fireplace, yoga mats, games, microwave, fridge and tea kettle all made for a great stay. The trail across the street that takes you through the sequoias to the river was fun for the kids. The Roadhouse and Cottage restaurants were perfect. The only downside was the mattress and pillows. The mattress was so hard it made for a very restless & uncomfortable sleep, and the thread count was coarse. It pains me because I loved everything else about this stay.

Do not walk, but do RUN to Glen Oaks. AMAZING service, amazing room (fireplace in the wall), very comfortable bed, delicious food at the roadhouse restaurant - they go out of their way to make sure your stay is amazing. Oh and they have heated bathroom floors. You can take a little hike on their property to a stream and sit in these big wooden chairs as the water passes by you (while drinking a glass of wine). 100000% recommend!

My wife and I stayed in the Motor Lodge on our honeymoon and WOW, what a place! The room is incredibly cozy - fully stocked with hot chocolate, filtered water and a complimentary bottle of wine. The property even went above and beyond and left a bottle of champagne in the room and a congratulations note! There is a fire pit just a few steps away and the property provides free smore packets - and they don't skimp on what they give you either as many resorts do. Also a cute breakfast place in the morning with free coffee and doughnuts. We literally felt like we were in the middle of the woods in our room. We will be back!

My wife and I had a wonderful getaway here shortly after we got married. We spent three nights: two in the Adobe Motor Lodge, and then splurged the third night at the Sycamore Cabin. We’ve stayed at a lot of places over the years in Big Sur from campgrounds to Ventana. Now let’s get one thing out of the way: Big Sur is expensive. It’s not fair to hold prices in Big Sur to the same standard as elsewhere. So I could see why a common complaint here is that this place is expensive if your only stay in Big Sur was at Glen Oaks.Similarly, space is a commodity in Big Sur. It’s true that the rooms aren’t going to stack up to your average sized hotel room because that’s just how everything in Big Sur is. People often forget that Big Sur is pretty remote. Aside from a few small towns, there aren’t many buildings or people. Not to mention there is only one road in and out from the north or south.Since we knew all of this going into our stay, we really enjoyed our time at Glen Oaks. Its location is fantastic, and we loved walking across Highway 1 (though they really need a crosswalk!) to grab a bite to eat and free donuts and coffee in the morning. The room at the Adobe Motor Lodge was small but comfortable, and nice and upscale. The Sycamore Cabin was fantastic and more spacious since it had a living room and kitchenette. It also had a fenced-in back patio with a tub that can fit two people (pictured) that we thoroughly enjoyed. It did take a long time to fill up though (about 20 minutes) so be ready in advance. All in all I would go back here. It isn’t cheap by any means, but if you’re looking for something that isn’t camping or motel-quality in Big Sur, this is a great place to stay. Also, they give you “free” s’mores which we loved as a nice touch. It was great meeting people at the communal fire pit.

My now-husband and I stayed at Glen Oaks for our elopement after looking at perhaps every single possible accommodation in the Big Sur area. Let me start by saying that online photos of Glen Oaks do not do it justice - it is 100x better in person! We were absolutely blown away by the River View Cabin. It was cozy and inviting with ample space and thoughtful details like a heated bathroom floor, yoga mats, board games, and we even cooked in the full kitchen. Our cabin had a view of the river and it was so tranquil and relaxing, and spending evenings on the porch making s'mores in our own fire pit was a highlight. As far as amenities, in Big Sur where there is often zero service of any kind, Glen Oaks had fast wifi and it was great knowing we could get in touch with those at home if we needed to. I can't say enough good things about Glen Oaks, and my partner and I agreed that it's our favorite place we've ever stayed. I literally teared up when we checked out, but I already can't wait to visit again in the future!

Glen Oaks did an outstanding job with health safety during our stay in The Cottage in June. They provided plenty of cleaning supplies, even though everything was spotless. We appreciated that they did not bother us at all. The Cottage had everything we needed including a well equipped kitchen and a cozy gas stove. We felt perfectly comfortable staying there for several nights. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back again!
