Quiet. Good hot water pressure and drains work. A/C worked quietly and well. Spacious. Clean towels. Soap and shampoo dispensers in shower area is wonderful and environmentally friendly. Some cosmetic improvements can be made eg repaint interior and add a tablecloth to dining table. I would stay again even though it is not new or fancy because it is a functional place to stay and the market next door is convenient and location is excellent.

My experience here was very poor and right off I noticed the lack of cleanliness. I received zero room service during the week of my stay. The bed had one visible hair in the sheets. The shower was extremely filthy with dirt and hair from the previous tenant and was out of body wash and remained that way throughout my stay. I always bring a bag with my own shower stuff just in case, you should too if you think of staying here. The fridge was small and did not work right. It froze everything that was inside and I could not find a setting for it. The small freezer part inside still had the last tenants ice cream. There were also spiders and bugs up on the top corners of the rooms. It's very cold around Big Pine and so the heater is a must. It worked good but would allow bugs to get through. A huge moth flew in through it on my last night here. Towels, trash, soap, toilet paper were never given attention.

It should be a 4.5 rating, the only issue we had was the noise behind the motel. Are stay was quick, just one night; check in/out was simple and efficient, everything we needed was just a few steps away at the convenience store. The room was on the small side, but for 2 people and 1 night it worked fine. Would stay here again if we stop to look around this rich area of the Eastern Sierras. Thank you!Nearby activities: Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest is a must. Also, there is a large park not far from there that is very nice.Safety: It’s right off the 395, but felt protected with the convenience store right thereWalkability: Big Pine is a small town, but what we needed was convenient and within walking distance

I gave one star because it’s the minimum possible rating. The check-in was done at a gas station. We stayed in one of the available apartments. At first glance, the house didn’t seem bad, but upon closer inspection, we noticed accumulated dirt. We cleaned the entire apartment, which took us at least an hour. For dinner, we had to boil water to sanitize the pots. Additionally, there’s a note on the table asking you to leave a tip for the cleaning ladies.

Location is great if your plan is to hike the Big Pine North Fork to the lakes. It is kid and pet friendly. Check in is convenient at the gas station because it is open until midnight and we drove 6 hrs after work.I had a problem with the prices charged which I’m not disputing because it is my fault for not requesting a detail reservation email. Online it said $89, but days later I check my credit card account and I was charged $135. The second room, I was told in person $139, I was charged $154.00 The first room was as expected for $89, nothing fancy, Clean, it had a small fridge and the towels were fresh & crips just like I like them. The second room was ok, it had 2 beds, small fridge and microwave, but the bathroom was very dirty. I must say that clerks at the gas station were VERY courteous 👍🏻👍🏻Rooms: Comfortable, clean bed.Nearby activities: It’s only 8 miles to Big Pine Creek trailhead, 4-5 hr hike to the lakes depending on your physical condition and weight being carried.

This spot is so convenient because it is part of the Chevron gas station, grocery, hardware, and liquor store. The staff is professional, friendly, and informative. The rooms are clean and have mini-fridges, Wi-Fi, cable, and large bathrooms. The only reason I took away a star is because the showerhead needs to be replaced and hopefully upgraded.Nearby activities: Hiking, fishing, Mammoth Lakes, Death Valley, National and State Parks, Bishop, CASafety: Well lit parking lot, attentive staff, and durable locks on the doors and windows is why I felt safe staying there.Walkability: Everything you need is within walking distance of your room.Food & drinks: Grocery, alcohol, hardware and gas station are all part of the property.

Decent motel with full kitchenette. Large room with dining table, 4 burner stovetop, microwave and small refrigerator. Stayed in one of the only rooms with a small AC, most have larger AC units. Linens are good. Lighting is a little weak. Store on premises had most of what you may need, including an assortment of food for you to cook.Food & drinks: Only a few local eateries in town, and may be closed on the day you arrive!

Absolutely a great stay! We didn't want to go back to LA after a beautiful ride to Sabrina Lake! Were so happy to find out this place was so close to us for a really reasonable price. Worth every $ spent. Even though it's a ride-through motel, we couldn't hear any street noises overnight. All the neighbours were quiet. The room itself had everything we needed and even more. Clean place, cozy bed, almost fully blackout blinds. They also have a mini-market that has every little thing that you might need. The most delish breakfast place right across. I would definitely stay here again when we come back to Pines! Thank you!

What a great place to stay if you’re traveling with a dog! We had to stop in Big Pine because of weather and we were so happy to find a place that not only didn’t charge us an extra 25.00 bucks , but didn’t care what breed or how much she weighed! The room was spotless and had everything we needed. We were very comfortable there and will definitely stay again!

Stayed in one room with queen size bed. Location is close to the trailhead at Big Pine. Room is equipped with a small refrigerator, a microwave, and coffee maker, and toiletries. All essentials are included in the room. Big size bathroom. The owner also owns a gas station with minimart. Lots of stuff available at the minimart for urgent or non-urgent needs. Really nothing to complain about.

This is a great little hotel in town, an L-shaped one-story house on the side of the road, next to the gas station. Check-in is done at the front desk of the gas station, and the attitude of the staff is very good. The store has a complete range of things, including refrigerators, stoves, ovens, pots, etc. There is also a lot of furniture in the interior, and there is intentionally a square table where you can play poker or drink coffee. The floor of the room is carpeted, bath towels and bedding are clean, the only downside is that the interior is dimly lit.

I really like this hotel...we stayed in one of the family rooms... clean, big room, with a kitchen. Pets allowed. Quiet and comfortable. Stayed here 2x's in the past 4 months. The store in front of hotel is where you check in and it is amazing. They have everything! Kind of messy inside, but that's cuz they have so much in a small place. My only complaint about our room (23) would be about the mini fridge. Tiny freezer that didn't have a separate door, so it didn't freeze well.

We checked in minutes before the office closed. We got into our room and noticed how dirty the room was and tried calling the front office, but they were already gone and there was nobody for us to talk to. The beds were disgusting, the bathroom had dark long hairs in the shower, on the floor, on the walls, they only put 3 towels in a room for 6 people. The shower made a horrible squealing sound. Very outdated and falling apart.

Customer service was great from check in to check out. It is conveniently located in the middle of town with stores and restaurants within walking distance. The trailer is a convenient option for larger groups, with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It is reasonably priced and a great alternative to renting a vacation rental with all the extra fees. The beds are comfortable and plenty of room for 8 to sleep comfortably. There are some kitchen supplies available so you can utilize the kitchen for meals. The living room is good sized and has a large leather sectional couch. The dining room also has a good sized table.Unfortunately you will need to compromise modern furnishings and cleanliness for the convenience of a large gathering area. The trailer is worn out, in need of an update, and could desperately benefit from a good scrubbing from ceiling to floor. The cleanliness of the trailer bathrooms was subpar. I had to ask for a new shower curtain because the one hanging was filthy. One towel had a large dirty handprint on it.It is a good option overall, if you don't mind doing some cleaning. The town has very little to offer, so we were appreciative of the option to rent the trailer for our family.

Great price, great town!! The market has everything you need. Great for pre or post hiking prep and recovery. So much better then a camping pad in the desert. Frozen in time from decades ago but maintained great. Love the solar panels! Staff (at the gas station/market) is responsive and helpful. Room is clean 😀.

I loved this place! At first it seemed odd that you check-in by going inside the chevron gas station store. Then when I asked about it, the guy behind the desk was awesome, friendly, and talkative while typing in the information into their system. After the guy explained how to get to the family room that we paid for, we drove around the back, found our room, unlocked the door. And wow! What a awesome room.Inside look just like a cabin! The room had 2 double and one twin size beds.In the middle of the room was a table with 4 chairs with an extra chair for a 5th person.Huge bathroom in the rear of the room. Shower was amazing. Great pressure and never got cold.Going through this area. This place is a must to stay at...

Your first impression of the motel is the interior of the fuel station where you check in. This was not maintained or loved, it should have been a warning. The room was dark, filthy and really badly worn. Lamp was held together with tape. Had to put a sheet up-to a window for privacy as blinds were gapping badly, it’s ground floor only motel. Fetched a cover, sleeping bag and my own pillows from out the car as couldn’t bare to lay on bed without. Thought of using shower - urghhh!!! Left as soon as it was daylight. The best advice for anyone thinking of staying here, is don’t!!!

Great little place. The room was just what we needed to warm up in the night.Clerk was very courteous. They are pet friendly and ask for people not to leave dogs unattended in hotel room. No extra charge for the pets. There is a park around the corner to walk pets around. There is a Chevron gas station right in front where you pay for the room.Bla kets were warm, shower was hot.Nice little place.Gave 4 stars instead of 5 because the noise of the trucks/ cars passing can be heard st night.

The service is great. Solar panels over the entirety of the roof.Rooms: It is a motel in a small rural town. If you want to stay near the Bristlecone Pine forest this is probably your best option. You do check-in at the gas station on the property. They were very welcoming.Nearby activities: Bristlecone Pine Forest! The oldest trees in the world. But you have to go nearly 10,000 feet up the mountain to see them.Food & drinks: The gas station is as much of a grocery store as this small of a town can probably support.... it is also a small hardware store.

No heat and grimy. Heater wouldn't turn on, and had to have staff come in to turn it on. It turned off in the middle of the night and we were unable to get it to come on again (again). Bathroom was nice for a gas station, but lots of mildew in the shower. Toilet was loose to the floor (rocked). Shower had soap dispensers, but gel was empty. Bed mattress had a mound in the middle, like the inverse of a sag.Padded desk chairs were heavily stained. We tolerated it since we were in a backpacking mode, but if you care about clean, then look elsewhere. <see pics for details>

This is a decent motel but does have its negative and therefore I only gave it 3 stars. The stay was in June 2017 and the outside temperature during the day was warm, but the nighttime temperatures are cool as there was snow on the mountains behind the motel. The 'heat' which seems to be propane was not working of turned off at the propane tank, thus taking a shower or getting up in the middle of the night was 'cool'.The location is good as it is off of US-395 and there is a gasoline station and a 'general store' which has food, fishing and hunting gear, tools, {mini ACE type hardware store}, and tons of other 'traveler' stuff. The motel does NOT provide free or any breakfast, but there is a good and reasonable priced little restaurant within walking distance. The motel office was closed and the sign-in registration was at the General Store. Paperwork got somewhat confused, but the personnel were friendly and did their best to straighten it out to our satisfaction.Unfortunately, I only could give the place three stars due to the defective toilet that ran {leaked water] all night; the bed that had two dips with a rise in-between {they claimed these were new; NOT !}, small main room, and no television guide.Overall, a bit overpriced for what it is, but generally satisfactory for a night's stay. The great part was that several antique cars showed up and gave us a show for a few minutes.

I gave this place a 5 star because it is a great place for a group of fishermen to stay. Reasonable price and a couple amenities near by. You have to try the new bold coffee that is now served at the service station/front desk. Great upgrade from Farmer Bros coffee that was served in the past. I had to have 2 cups. The staff is very hospitable.

I've never stayed there. I live across the street. There is a small general store located at the Chevron petrol station, Hi Country Mercantile. It also serves as the office for Bristlecone Motel. I have seen the inside of the rooms and they were always clean and tidy. And of course, it's conveniently located near the store and right on the road to Palisade Glacier with its awesome views.
