We live in San Diego we always make the long drive to Big Pine Animal Shelter Friendly and Very Nice, Lots of good dogs, if you're looking for puppies to bigger dogs Older dogs. Worth the trip picked up 2 puppies.

Such an amazing place, they care so much about the animals there and work so hard to take care of them. Seeing not only the lovable and healthy dogs and cats but hearing their stories and the situations they were saved from is extremely heartwarming. They will do a lot of the early vaccinations and neutering for you, which is a huge help and they are all ready to answer questions you may have. If you're looking for a sweet doggo or cat this is the place to go.

I think its the mountain air. Everyone up there is so friendly and helpful! Can’t say enough good things about these people. They all went above and beyond to help reunite our family with it’s fuzziest member. Also a shout out and huge thanks to Larry!… amazing passer by who saved her life at great risk to his own. Running across hwy 395 to keep her from frantically darting across again, after some work it sounds like he was able to get her across and into his car. Then arranged to meet up with Kristen at the shelter after hours. My father and I took a job to haul basketball court flooring from central CA to Missoula MT around lone pine the load shifted and needed to be dealt with immediately, pulled over in a precarious spot and I left the passenger door open in a rush to keep from losing a stack of flooring. She has been on hundreds of car rides and never ran off. In our distraction on the load she either got scared of the big rigs passing by shaking the truck or found something to chase.. irresistible always. We finished our fix and she was gone. Frantically looking all over for her for a couple hours up and down the highway. We were joined in our search by CHP officer Otten. He was very sympathetic and helped trying to find her. Took our information and would let us now if he found anything. With sadness that can’t be described, we had to get back on the road to avoid an impending storm in MT that threatened to close the passes. We got the call the next morning they had her and would keep her safe until we could get back. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!! You can tell they all love the animals! .. please keep them in mind if you are thinking of adding a cat or dog to your family so they can help more of them in need

I can not say enough great things about these facility! I met some of the most amazing caring loving individuals who truly love what they do there at the Shelter. They take such good care of their animals and the program that they have going with the continuation school student is wonderful!I want to thank each and everyone of you there at the shelter ( and the kids that worked with Hugo) for all you did to make it possible for me to meet Hugo( the love of my life!❤️) He is doing wonderful, I know that is also due to all the care and hard work you put into your facility and the animals that reside there.Hugo has fit right in and acts as if he has been here his whole life.We will see you all in spring for a visit.As you can see we are pretty obsessed with him🖤

I was forced to surrender my dog - my baby my heart. I rescued him from there four years ago. My dog is a car n people chaser☹️. The staff was so caring and compassionate and saw I was literally falling apart at the seams

The shelter is wonderful. The staff is difficult to deal with and make up their own rules. Not very good communication, sometimes they don't give you the truth. For this reason only I'm giving the shelter a low rating but not because of the shelter itself.

They Held my daughter(which wasMy rummie). And my wife tried to get here out and that julie Richardson, refused to let her get it and threatened her with the badge which is so lame and wrong and then adopted her out to another family and I haven't seen her ever since and not to mention my horse to and complained about how she was 3 pounds over her weight and not to mention she slandered my wife and me, saying that we stole her. Which was b&$<#^=t we have never seen her again since. She even threatened the people who tried to help my wife and threatened to shut there packstation down if they were to help her, straight gustopo tactics and a disgrace of the badge like most of the boys in blue in this town!!!!

Small rural facility, super clean and well kept. Everyone is professional and nice to public. Volunteers come and walk the dogs to get them out, and they love it! Please come adopt one of the beautiful animals!!!!

The animals are cared for in the best way but I have tried to adopt a puppy and they always tell you that you have to have permission from the owners. And even though you tell them that if they come and check you everything seems good but at the same time bad Why can't one adopt an animal?
