I tried going here multiple times to give them some chances. Every time I spend an hour+ there as there is no communication between sales and workers in the yard. Once you get out in the yard you need to fight hard to flag someone down as they try to avoid eye contact at all costs.Edit: the quality seems good and the prices are reasonable given the location. I want to like it so I’ll give it a couple more chances and update my review if it gets better. I went back to pick up my purchase in the evening with no one else there and things went much faster.

I've been purchasing construction materials and lumber from Truitt & White for around 12 years now. They have a good selection of materials, and most of the lumber is typically in stock. On the occasion that I needed to place a special order for lumber, they received it quickly. Their customer service is good. The staff is knowledgeable and well-informed about their products. Furthermore, the employees in the yard, whom I have known for years, are always friendly and helpful.

Talk about a bunch of people who have no clue about anything that they stock. I was transferred four times and nobody could help me by just telling me if the item was in stock before I drove 30 minutes to their store. I would never spend my money here. Every single person that answered was too lazy to look and would keep sending me to someone else until I hung up 34 minutes later.

The recent December 2022 rain storm blew a few of the decorative trim pieces off my home. After several phone calls to lumber companies in my immediate area, I was referred to Truitt & White Lumber Company. I received excellent customer service from Thom who collected the details of what I needed and then from Terrence who reproduced the additional trim pieces exactly from the sample I provided. While waiting I was asked several times by different employees, 'Are you being helped?' My experience was beyond satisfactory. Also happy to support a family-owned business.

Surprisingly great prices on a great selection of quality tools and materials. Everyone I have interacted with has been helpful and polite. The flip side is you have to know what you are looking for because not everything is on display. But if you are a contractor or solid DIY weekend warrior, highly suggest you check them out before heading to the big orange box.

The level of service @ Truitt & White is superior! My fiance and I went to several other lumber companies before, looking for interior doors & baseboards. Not a single one could answer our questions or give us general information on different options. All we got was look through this catalog of a couple hundred doors and let me know what you like. We had lost hope and really had no clue what we were going to do for our doors.As soon as we walked into Truitt & White, Terrace introduced herself and got right into helping us. Within minutes we had a better idea of what door style we liked. After we left, Terrace sent a follow up email with the door we discussed and has been an exceptional at answering our questions, via email, since. We are getting ready to order our Shaker style interior doors and could not be more thrilled!If you are a home owner looking for any lumber products, I strongly recommend Truitt and White! They will make your project so much easier! We are first time home owners in Oakland and will use Truitt and White for all of our projects!

We purchased all of our windows and a large slider for our home. They were very professional and easy to work with. They have a list of installers and ours was awesome. Easily saving 50% over anyone else. (Don't be fooled by the buy one get the second one 50% off from Anderson windows.) For example, our slider with side glass is 12 feet wide, our price for a top level unit was $3500 plus installation and Anderson Windows 'discounted' price was $13,000 for an inferior option.

I love this place. It is definitely built for pros,but they are also very helpful to "amateurs" such as myself. They have helped me with everything from custom sizing a pre-made door to researching denim insulation. My only issue ever is that it can take a little time to find someone to speak with. As soon as you make contact, they either know exactly what you are talking about or can point you toward someone who does.

Truitt and White is the real thing, a full lumber yard with a huge selection of lumber and plywood you cant find anywhere else, hardware, tools, and tons of custom order fittings, windows and doors and just about everything else you would hope to find at a Building Supply outlet. The staff is very knowledgeable, the yard and store is neat, uncluttered and well organized, and its only a very short wait for expert help with building materials sourcing and construction know how. I believe they are the best resource for builders in the entire East Bay.

Friendly, welcoming and informative staff. A small showroom and a small parking lot. Mostly Marvin and Integrity products, pricey. Beware: make sure you don't leave without a detailed receipt that matches your original quote. We were overcharged and had to spend a lot of time fixing it.

Truitt and White is a long standing institution in the East Bay. The quality of the lumber is good. The systems they have set up for loading and getting you out of the office and the yard are exceptional. The people they have working there are extremely knowledgeable. They know the products and have a good inventory control to keep you from running all over the yard trying to figure out if they stock or are out of a product. I highly remcommend Truitt and White for professionals and homeowners as well.

The staff is very knowledgeable of Marvin products and provide many services to Home Owners and local contractors with their training program. Only high quality products. The best lumber in the east bay. Save time and energy by buying here. Service is top notch. Drive up to your materials and they will load it. (Help them if you can lazybones). Small footprint so no long walks. Please don't go here. I want this place all for myself ;-)

new review, although still not perfect written white has come a long way since their fire and things are really coming back together and they definitely deserve 5 Stars cuz they're truly the best lumber yard everold review truitt and white used to be the best, then a fire happened and they have never really made it back. the store is the worst and the help among the worst. paint guys knows nothing about paint and where's the guy that did. to much internal strife between workers and unions. what happened to the contractors desk? and why are you competing with home depot? best lumber yse best lumber yard yes fire the people that ruined your good name Old Mr White would have never put up with what's going on there now, typical family business driven into the ground by the kids..

When it comes to services, the old saying is…"GOOD, FAST, CHEAP… Pick Two"Truitt and White has to be the only exception b/c they consistently give me ALL 3!@ "big box" construction supply depots I'm lucky if I get 1! (and you know which one that is)Bottom line is, you get what you pay for. I don't like buying garbage and thats why I get my building supplies from Truitt & White.GO BEARS!!

**********UPDATE: T&W contacted me, came to inspect the lumber and gave me a refund. They are also confused how the lumber I got was given to me since it clearly had sun nd water damage, but they have rectified the situation as far as I'm concerned. They corrected the mistake.**********T&W ripped me off, I had a horrible experience dealing with them.My awesome contractor recommended this place to me, so I purchased $500 of maple 3/4" plywood for a built-in shelf. I asked them to cut them in half for a 2x8 foot finished piece. After some time prepping the wood for cutting, I noticed that some pieces had bubbles in the top finish from obvious water damage. I also noticed the wood was sun bleached in some areas. I saw the best examples of this expensive plywood while at the facility in Berkeley, so I'm not sure where this wood came from. I cut around what I could and used what I thought were good pieces, but when I went to paint the wood, the wet primer activated some previously hidden bubbles and hidden water damage showed up in my already assembled shelves. I called the person who sold me the lumber and what i thought was an owner, Mark, but no one could be bothered to return my call to try and make things right.I guess if you aren't a contractor, T&W will blatantly rip you off. There is no way the wood they gave me came from the same place the rest was stored inside and out of the sun. I feel like they just gave me pieces from outside. Beware of T&W if you're just a DIY or at least pick your own pieces. I'm shocked they don't even care enough about my $500 dollar sale to at least call me back. My contractor was shocked and agreed upon inspecting the wood that it for sure was in the sun and got wet. This place is worse than HomeDepot in my opinion due to the fact that you expect problems at HD, but I'm shocked at how T&W treated me.

Truitt&White is the Disney World for the professional builders. When you have a discerning client that wants quality this is the go to place. They carry everything from fully stocked lumberyard, building materials, hardware, paint, power tools, windows skylights decking excetera moulding trim siding Hardware in pain and tools windows paint, patio doors, skylights, engineering wood engineered and so much more.-1 star for not being the cheapest.

Yard guy was surly and argumentative, not focused on being helpful at all, just in placing blame and being right, (perhaps he is was not happy with other things in his life that day, but keep it to yourself). At the front desk they have a photo of Stadler and Waldorf, the two crotchety hecklers from the muppets. i hope that is not their mascots.

I ordered a door through truitt and white the door that I was shown in the picture had piano teeth on it that's what I wanted that's what I specified the order came in complete and still has not been rectified
