Best mushroom selection I have seen anywhere in the world. Love the deli. Good for groceries. Supplies. And day-of-food. Will go back to try some of those - amazing- looking desserts.

This afternoon I was taken to the Berkeley Bowl West supermarket which brought me to “ supermarket heaven “! Their selection of produce was extraordinary! However, I was disappointed by the salt & pepper rotisserie chicken that we purchased. It tasted like someone forgot to add the salt and pepper!

I started shopping here at least ten years ago and now it's ruined me... every other supermarket is a massive letdown.BB always has a resplendent panoply of high-quality produce including a lot of things that are hard to find, and a knock-your-socks-off mushroom section. Fresh galangal? No problem. Eleventy different varieties of cucumber? Yup. Enough varieties of apples to give you analysis paralysis? Definitely. The butcher counter? Chef's kiss. An excellent cheese counter? Of course. A solid bakery and an excellent variety of breads? Yup. Delightful gourmet treats like a brown butter and truffle pangrattato, and whatever is about to become my next obsession? Naturally.I do most of my shopping at the outside edges of the store, but lately they've started carrying Asian potato chips in unusual flavors. I don't particularly like potato chips but I can no longer leave without buying some of the ribeye-flavored ones.My only real complaint is that they close earlier than I would like, but I'm willing to rearrange my schedule to make it work.

Best fresh produce in the East Bay!For an inexpensive, delicious lunch, I like getting a taco bowl without the tortilla for less than $4.There is a parking garage (free), with numbered parking spaces, and free parking outside.

The best grocery store. They have bulk items you can buy in compostable bags for low waste, a sea of produce so many varieties, prepared foods, baked goods, a quality meats from the butcher counter. I drive out of my way to come here every week.

Really fresh produce and the greatest variety I have ever seen in a supermarket. The meat and fish are also top quality. Their prepared food section is extensive and has some interesting choices. The bakery looks delicious, though I have not tried any of their pastries or breads. The one drawback is the cramped aisles that make it difficult to get through the market.

This is my favorite super market in East Bay. They have so many varieties here. I always come here for spinach fresh made pasta and house brand cookie dough and moz cheese. Staff here are always very helpful and friendly too. Highly recommended!

Love this place!! They have a wide selection of everything, including authentic ethnic foods. Their baked goods are always fresh & delicious. The best selection of fresh fruits & vegetables. They have bulk items & a big selection of it! Some out of season produce you can also find here. The only downside is some other shoppers are rude, & the isles are super cramped. Parking can also be a pain at times.

I love this place. The variety of goods is high. I've seen beautiful vegetables there that you might not find them in one place. Tons of kinds of mushrooms and so on.I like that the things are almost always in the same space so you can find them pretty easily.I love the soap section and I always have to stop by them for the amazing fragrances that come from them.It could get busy but lines move relatively fast.

Huge selection of bulk items: spices, nuts, pasta, etc. Good quality produce at reasonable prices and a mark-down room with real value. Large selection of wines and beers. I find almost everything I buy regularly here at a reasonable price...plus, it's buying small and local. Can't beat it!

Having lived in the Bay Area for many years, this was my first time at the Bowl. It was a fantastic experience, starting with a plethora of any & everything you could want! Their organic produce section is amazing and there are lots of vegan choices throughout the store. Aside from great produce and stories that go with it, the bakery and the make your own burrito window were awesome! The cashiers were energetic and plenty friendly. Definitely will go back next time I'm in town.

Love coming here, pricing is reasonable for quality and is cheaper than other health food stores plus they have an immense selection of items. Literally I can get overwhelmed by the shear number of individual items they have. The mushrooms and pears were so gorgeous last time I was there. Plus they sell my fav bagels ever.

Pretty great grocery store. The produce section is hard to beat. Pretty good prices on staples. Good beer, wine, spirits selection. Lines can long at peak times, but the employees are on top of it!

Love this place and this location. Love the loaded varieties of fruits and vegetables they carried. They offered tons of locally made products and can't get enough of this place. Prices are reasonable than most local grocery places in the area. This company has served the Berkeley community for decades and can't have enough praise for the company and the staff.

You have got to see this store! It has a Whole Foods vibe, but more down to earth. When you first walk in there's an impressive bread selection. I was amused to see "ACME Bread", it reminded me of the Road Runner and Coyote Looney Tunes cartoon. I now know where the Coyote goes shopping. 😆I like how the have an assortment of national beands next to smaller regional brands. I've seen one or two items from Spectrum Brands at Walmart, but at Berkeley Bowl I saw a large assortment of food oils from Spectrum, pretty impressive. At first I didn't realize the produce section was divided into "organic" and "conventional". I was having deja vu.....wait, didn't I see sweet potatos and oranges a little while ago? They also have a deli, hot foid, and sushi section. And the meat department also carries the "Flat Iron" cuts that you can't find at mainstream grocery stores.Bring your small car if you plan to park in their parking lot, the slots are narrow. If you must bring an SUV, try parking in their underground parking, the slots are wider. There's a cafe outside facing the main entrance. I forgot to check it out when I exited the store. I need to go back for a second trip just to check it out. 🤠

What can I say, other than it's the best grocery store in the Bay Area. I live in the South Bay and there is nothing like it down here. I will make the 90 mile round trip to go shopping once a month. It's simply the best!

This is, hands down, the best supermarket I’ve ever been to. And it’s not close.Their produce selection (and low cost) are second to none. 10/10 would drive many miles out of my way to shop here.

Loved Berkeley Bowl West. They have such a great variety of produce. The best produce section I've seen so far. Lots of types of fruit, vegetable and mushrooms that you can't find in other places.Parking is available at the front and they also have an underground garage with elevator and stairs to the store.

Easily a Chef's dream, I was totally nerding out!I took some pictures; the produce and bulk selection is really where it's at! Mushroom selection is such an attraction, too many apple varieties to pick from, and so many bulk flours and grains.See my pictures... I wish I took pictures of their bulk items, you'll just have to visit :)

This is the greatest grocery store on earth!!! It is absolutely part of the reason I cannot leave the bay- the produce section alone is to die for. You will never ever see the variety of things you will see here all in one place anywhere else. Everything is priced fairly except mainstays & corporate food that you’d find in Safeway - so I usually visit both grocery stores weekly for different things. As for veggies, meats, nuts, dry goods, bread, butter, eggs, you’re not going to find better selection, variety , & prices. They also carry specialty ethnic items- for example the last time I saw durian for sale was when I was visiting family in the Philippines. Just an incredible place- their pre made food & deli are of exceptional quality. So is the seeds & flower section. As a gardener & cook, this place is a heaven of potential- I am so lucky to be able to shop in a place like this.

Big store with lots of organic and niche items. Huge selection, especially of fruits and vegetables. They have lots of exotic produce and things are always fresh. I especially love the onigiri and yummy local products. Plenty of vegan options.

Lots of parking--even for bicycles. A great to go restaurant (these days). One of the best selections of fruits and vegetables, both organic and conventional in the Bay Area. Meat and fish market with real butchers who actually cut the meat. Great places for foodies to shop. They have Kombucha on tap. However, today of the eight taps, there were only two of the taps thar were available. For seniors 65 or over, you can get a free cup of coffee.

This is a One-Stop shop, although many of the items can be found at lower prices elsewhere. (I'm accustomed to doing my shopping at nationality-specific stores, so it's not saving me a trip unless I only needed one jar of lime pickle or a single package of cookies to round out a dessert table.) The bulk section is ENORMOUS. There's a huge variety of produce and everything I got was fresh. This is not a place for a quick visit! I spent at least an hour here, and could have spent another 2 hours. The pastry case seems very expensive until you realize how much time & energy it would take to make & decorate a chocolate ganache torte, even if you had the equipment.

An amazing place that has a lot of supermarket items such as a variety of produce (including an organic section), meats, seafood, bakery, frozen foods, grains, spices, coffees, cheeses, prepared meals, fresh cafeteria type food, soups, Asian food aisle, paper plates and napkins, chewing gum, gift cards, flowers, canned food, water, eggs, snacks, junk food, healthy food, mixed foods, mixed greens, spaghetti, penne pasta, sauces, items in jars, cleaning items, black garlic, chicken, beans, liquor and wine, beer, kombucha, oj, and other stuff

I like this Berkeley Bowl West, but hate parking in the garage, so I’ll come here after 1pm and before 5pm to avoid the crowds.I usually come here for the produce, because it’s so cheap. However, sometimes it’s really expensive, especially organic food and veggies. Please follow me on IG @ssindyeats for more foodies bites and travels.

This is an excellent place to purchase fresh produce, including a wide variety of vegetables and fruits. They also offer a diverse selection of grains, making it a one-stop shop for all your grocery needs. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the store is always clean and well-organized. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for high-quality food at reasonable prices.

Go. Just go. Now...seriously. The produce section alone is a marvel. Prices are fair, staff are friendly and knowledgeable, The selection of products is crazy good, and from a Bay Area perspective, they have TONS of parking available.
