Why is the door closest to the handicap parking closed off at the register? You make it harder for the handicap people to exit the store. A few extra steps can mean a lot to a handicapped person. I was there 3/20 about 3 pm. And a woman with dirty blonde hair told me,"it's just a few more steps'. Every step I take is more pain.

The people who work at this hardware store are wonderful - not just efficient and knowledgeable but very courteous and friendly, and they have often gone above and beyond to deliver a great customer experience.

I always love the down home, local feel of this, and many other independently owned ACE stores.But Scarborough has been around for a long time and has a lot of roots and fondness in and by the local community. They've recently expanded, or reorganized the floorplan and they manage to fit a lot of product into the medium-sized floorplan. They also have a detached garden center and an impressive outdoor lumberyard. And being clustered with Ben Lomond Supermarket, a liquor store, a coffee shop, a breakfast cafe, a small gas station, "downtown" Ben Lomond, and best of all, Henflings Tavern, makes it a multi-productive and sociable outing.The only downside I've encountered has been a consistent lack of attentiveness when I'm looking for something. During 4 or 5 consecutive visits I couldn't seem to get anyone's attention as employees talked amongst one another in upbeat and good spirited manner, worked at stocking newly installed shelves and displays, and zoomed about in some sort of task-driven tempo. I've stood staring at shelves, I've walked up and down isles, I've tried to begin a question, I've used friendly hand gestures... Maybe it's just me? But when I do get someone to acknowledge me, I find them to be attentive and do their best to be helpful, even if they might be less knowledgeable than I'd hoped. The lumberyard crew have always been right on it, knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly, so no problems there.Being a small town store, they may not have as vast a selection of, say, Simpson support brackets, but they have access to them and will order what you need if you have an extra day or two.It's always nice supporting a locally owned business, and I think it's the kind of place that with time you'll be called by name every time you walk through the door, and you'll likely run I to someone you know

Happy hour coming back- that's great!I had the fish tacos and they were disappointing... overload of salsa and "special" sauce made them anything but tasty. Just a lot of stuff piled on top of a dry piece of fish. $18.Don't get tacos at a burger joint, i guess is the lesson..!!!

Great local hardware store! Good selection of tools, hardware, cleaning supplies, and Rae materials with a decent smattering of household goods. The 5-star rating is for the consistently excellent customer service; very knowledgeable staff that are always happy to help. I've asked some pretty zany questions and they've almost always had the answers.

New to the area and needed materials for a fence. Lance and his team, Connor and guys were very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Service with a smile is exactly what you get at this store. The local hardware store *usually* meant nice, knowledgeable people are at the ready to help you find what you need.But, things change. I loved this store. Until today.Their inventory changed and I needed help finding a replacement for the stain they used to carry. The color the deck has been for 30 years.They mixed up a color that was too dark and would not work with me to exchange it for the right color. A color that shouldn't need to be mixed for me. It's a standard redwood deck stain color. So instead of compromising with me on the price of exchange they chose to lose my business.For $35 and the power to say no (even though they were part of the problem) they gave up thousands of dollars of business and bad word of mouthIt's sad.

Wow! I was helping a young couple I sold a house to in Felton and needed some supplies. I zipped down to Scarborough/Ace and found everything I needed and met one of their employee's who took me by the hand and helped me find everything I needed in the store. When you consider their reasonable selection of quality products, friendly and knowledgeable staff willing to go above and beyond, it's hard to argue there's a better place to buy hardware anywhere else....Their hometown vibe is infectious and it shows...Great store and great experience.

This store is the one stop shop -big hardware ace, yet small town family operated and owned for generations by the Scarborough family- place that everyone in the valley loves, and for good reason. As I said, the store is large and has EVERYTHING you need, like you can expect from ace, but has the small town touch and is locally owned and operated. You can expect to come in this store and get the great customer service and purchase all of your hardware needs at a fair price. I personally will go out of my way to shop at Scarborough in Ben lomond and Scott's valley over home depot even though I live right next door to home depot.The employees are always happy, very friendly and eager to help. I like coming in this store and talking to an employee who I know has done the same project as me before and knows exactly what I need!

Drive-in lumber yard for all your basic fix-it needs. Personal service in the yard. There is a decent supply of hoiseplants and patio as well, but they really shine with their hardware with a deep selection and knowledgeable staff. There's paint and chainsaw service, as well as an order desk in the back. Always very friendly and helpful! I rarely need to go elsewhere, tho it does happen, the other Scarborough locations have slightly different stock. They are also willing to say they don't know or have when they don't, which is awesome. I'm always asking for weird stuff and they try their best!

Wow this is what a HARDWARE store is SUPPOSED TO BE!!! Tons of aisles jam parked with all the essentials you will need for mountain living and if you can't find it and if your standing in one spot for more than 5 minutes a nice helpful KNOWLEDGEABLE person will ask if you need any help! Remember that ... hardware stores with ACTUAL people IN them... so you can ask them questions !?!!? Ok Beamer....

Many times but not always I go to the Scotts Valley yard for lumber as the selection there is much more abundant than Ben Lomond. But I do get lumber there when I only need a few pieces. Can't give 5 stars because of that. Other than that I have no complaints. Staff has been very helpful for the the most part. As anywhere, us humans get grumpy when we have a bad day so it can happen there as well. The reviewer who mentioned that they were not friendly to kids is ridiculous. Its a hardware store. Not a toy store so perhaps the child was not behaving or bored. Who knows for sure. Been a customer since 1974.

Excellent resource for your household requirements. whether it is chainaw, weeder, locks, lights or any other appliance or item that you need for your household, this is the place. Highly recommend it. In addition, service is excellent and there is always someone to help you with your questions and needs.

Good selection of products at reasonable prices, with a very exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable staff... and many of them! Hard to think of these guys as even in the same category of a Home Depot.
