I go to Ben Lomond Market only in moments of pure desperation aka complete laziness and unwillingness to drive to Felton Safeway. Their shelves are bare more often than full, the produce is overpriced and wilted, finding an employee to assist in the deli is near impossible and the employees who work the check stand are dismissive and rude. It’s amazing to know that the same family owns Scotts Valley Market. The two stores are night and day from each other. My trips to Ben Lomond Market have grown further apart and I’m about done entirely.

First off I added a star just because it was clean and organized and people were working diligently but the shopping experience wasn't very good for me and I'd rather hit up Wild Roots in Boulder Creek if I'm down that way from now on. The first customer experience killer for me is a pre-printed sign informing customers to walk to a nearby park to use a restroom. The other issue was everyone was working in the store but only 1 checkout open and no self checkout. It's 2023 so it totally feasible for the owners to invest in self checkout. Last thing was the Coolhaus ice cream sandwich was $7. I ended up just putting it back after learning the price. These typically retail for $5 and I've seen it for as low as $3.50 recently. Can't justify that being the manufacturers markup if it's sold for that much cheaper elsewhere. One closing mention is that I grew up in and around Ben Lomond as a small child and have great memories of Ben Lomond Super which is the old name and it's a quaint place but I feel it could be more modernized.

Generally just a cookie cutter small town market - sure beats Dollar General. The architecture blends well with the surrounding redwood hills. I like the “Santa Cruz Mountains” beanie that I bought. I found the service great too.

I like shopping at Ben Lomond Market more than some of the employees like working there. They appear to be overworked. Mostly polite but understaffed. The prices at the register is quite often not the same as the price listed on the shelves and the staff rarely has a solution. The staff has obviously been well trained on politeness and quickness but if you hold up the line to correct the price problem all the other training goes out the window. If I wasn't a cheapskate I would give them 4 1/2 stars!

Has everything. Specialty, pretty clothes, produce, grocery, full butcher dept w marinated chicken. Yay. The 4 star is, they marinate and prepackage chicken white meat and expensive beef/pork cuts. But they do not stock chicken dark meat, which is what I eat. It's less expensive, smaller pieces, better for me, etc.You can order ahead - but I prefer that it was just stocked, for my random visits. Cheers

Quiet and easy shopping. Nice to have so much choice in the shelves for such a local community market.Just pay attention to the expiring dates from time to time...Christy has an excellent sense of customer service

Don’t let the fact that I rated this wonderfully located and well stocked grocer at a meager three stars discourage a visit. The selection is top notch along with the quality of the deli, bakery and meat dept (they still have a meat counter with real live butchers behind it). The problem lie with the prices being noticeably higher than say your local Safeway which is a mere five minute drive. My other issue is with the salad bar, not only is it pricey, but the selection of “fresh” ingredients includes some obviously canned items and on several occasions the greens are clearly wilted and quite overdue for replacement. Overall a quality establishment with courteous staff and clean, well kept inside and out.

To be a complete grocery store in a small town is a difficult task. You can't compete with the big city markets for either selection or price, so you do as best you can with all the savvy you have: the Ben Lomond Market does this. Friendly with a great selection of products and the prices are as reasonable as one can expect. The convenience is great. I hope Ben Lomond Market has continual success because the community needs this store.

I worked near by today. So I am staying in a hotel .Just down the road is this very neat Hometown Store. I decided to walk to it from My hotel. I was amazed at how awesome this place is. It is one of those places you wish all little towns had. Home made food. Butcher shop. The fruits and vegetables were beautiful and fresh. All the employees were super polite and sociable to Me. Someone they have never seen but they acted like they knew Me ? Very Cool! I plan on bringing My wife back to this little hidden treasure of a place soon. What a wonderful surprise to see that Yes there are so many hidden little towns all over My home State. This place should be a bucket list spot to visit . Ben Lomond.

Pricey, but outstanding quality and attention to detail.Good friendly, helpful staff.This is the only place, Costco included, that I have been able to find bleach.(As of the second week of April.)The Deli is well appointed, and their Meat selections have always been tender and delicious.Their selection is impressive. It's a cool voyage of discovery every time I am fortunate enough to be able to wander and browse. I always find something new and unexpected.Well worth investigating!

Great service by cashiers but rest has a long way to go. They are here in town but you pay. Believe me. I have scene a steady increase in their already HIGH prices. They are a good dollar or more higher than everywhere else for same food. The meat department prices are well insane. You pay to be able to save gas than driving into Felton. Wanted eggs for breakfast, again I made a mistake checking here on way home. Yeah it would been cheaper for me to buy live chickens and raise them than there dozenNot worth the so called. L buying local. I believe that is what you do. I have bought sandwich at the counter twice both times dud not make what I paid for but a little late after you get home.

Interesting variety of products. Very expensive.The cheese enchiladas were a 0 on a one to ten scale.The tiger roll sushi was tasty but the degree of spicy hottest was not indicated on the label. I couldn't eat it because it was badly burning my tongue .I wasted $13.95 on sushi I couldn't eat.I bought a potted plant that I felt was a good value.Beef marrow bones were a good and appreciated find.Some of the decorative objects had shelf pricing that was very misleading.No product sizes were indicated on the large temp. shelf tags, and that lead a large disappointment when I was told at check out the actual price of the item I had spent 10 minutes selecting.There is a huge difference between $14.99 and $39.99.When printing up shelf tags, it would be helpful to indicate what size product goes with what price. I was not happy .Butcher Service is good, cashier was pleasant.Overall ,I felt disappointed. I will go to Wild Roots next time.

For a small local market it has a nice variety of produce, cheese and wines. They also have a pretty nice butcher counter. Prices are comparable to Safeway and sometimes cheaper which you don't normally see at small community markets. The staff is generally friendly as well. My favorite market to frequent when I just need a few items.

I love this little local market. Prices are pretty par for the course in this area. The staff are always very friendly. They have most major brands and some specialty items, a floral dept, a deli, a reasonable wine selection, fresh produce. The store is clean. Bathrooms are not easily accessible but the staff are nice and will show you the way and unlock them for you. Super convenient place to shop without having to drive to Felton, Scott's Valley or Santa Cruz.

Amazing selection for such a small store! It's clean and well kept. Their deli, meat, bakery and hot food counter are phenomenal. Overall things are a little expensive (On par with trader Joe's/ whole foods). They also have a small staff, so lines can be a little long. Overall a great shopping experience.

Supermarket with great vegetable section, helpful staff and full deli with hot meals. Salad bar. The butcher is decent, too - they get in specials for holidays and always have cuts marinading for quick use. They also have coffee. Their vegetable prices are great, but they do mark up froufrou things, so get what's on sale ^-^

This is a great local market. Staff are always friendly and the selection of organic fruits and veggies is good. The meat counter is usually well stocked, though the seafood selection is limited. Prices are a tad on the higher side.

Great local market. Wide Selection of hard to find products, Incredibly good butcher shop, and the best produce anywhere in the area. There deli is also amazing. Best barbeque chicken around. Great Hot Food and Salad tables. Surprisingly Amazing Selection of Wines! Great Staff!

Great high-end market in the heard of the San Lorenzo Valley. My Mom has been shopping there exclusively for over 20 years, so I know they have great stuff, especially prepared items from the bakery and deli. I'm a little more frugal so I only shop there when entertaining and the occasion calls for something of higher quality than Safeway. So, yes a little more expensive, but worth it.

If this wasn't the only grocery store in town, I would not shop here. It hasn't always been the case, but in the last decade the quality has not justified the overpricing. I've been overcharged more times than I can remember. I have to check the receipt each and every time I shop here. The customer service is only pleasant from new emoyees. Anyone around long term, is miserable. Except for Frank. He is an angel.

Love this place! I've shopped here for more than two decades. They've got the freshest food, fresh baked bread daily, nice collection of wine, cheese and other great food. Butcher on site. Bakery is always going. Great vibe, and better people. I'll always shop here.

Been burned more than a few times buying frozen foods that had obviously thawed and then been refrozen. Cheese, aged 5 years, went moldy within a day of taking it home. Chips and dip, expired many months ago. The only thing I'll trust from there anymore is dry goods and only after I check the expiration date.

They need to improve. Gave them several chances and there are still mistakes in charges, old food, bad smells and I did have pests in my pasta.
