One of the messiest and most disorganized stores you will ever find. Still convenient for cheap seasonal decorations and last minute needs. There is always some kind of weirdo roaming around. I once saw a guy taking a nap on the floor in one of the isles. Not enough cashiers.

Stopped here to get some stuff and my mother had to use the restroom and was denied. she is an obviously older lady and the lady working on 1/29/24 at 11:49am refused to let her go. That’s a basic human right to let people use the restroom. Disgusting! I would put 0 stars but they add one.

Im updating my review from 5 months ago. I love seeing Faye so i will go there if I have a feeling she is there. Now I recently had reconstructive shoulder surgery and i had went to this store to buy a case of water and There were new workers there and i got worried at first but they were very helpful with helping me by carrying my water to the car. Also the items they have are pretty good quality for the price. And the Bathroom is back again for those who don't try to mess them up again.

Arrived at 1342hrs to pick up some house hold items, 09/10/2023 and was denied access to the restroom. I have a medical condition called IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome) which causes me to use the restroom frequently. Employees were very inconsiderate and rude. I will be speaking with my attorney regarding this matter tomorrow morning. I REFUSE to return for services of any kind at this business and I will also let the locals and my Father who is a Chief Of Police know ASAP.AB 1632, which is codified at Cal. Health & Saf. Code §§ 118700-118703 and effective Jan. 1, 2023, requires certain businesses to allow members of the public with an eligible medical condition to use employee restrooms during normal business hours, even if the employee restroom is not normally available to the public.

Entire store in general is great. Staff are always friendly and greet you as you walk in. There is always someone around to help, and dont seem to mind doing so if needed. Store is always clean and aisles are clutter free. Also like the fact that it is never too busy. There is never a long wait in line.

I love this Dollar General, but they never seem to have enough cashier's. Everytime I go to check out there is always a line and you can see the cashier is irritated, because they are trying their best to get the line down. The Managers need to be more on the look out for this and help their teammates out! Other than that, the employees are always nice and answer questions, if you need them to get something and they have it in the back they go back n look without an attitude. It's refreshing to know this especially when we have the pandemic going on and there are a lot of stressed out people. Masks are required as everywhere else in California are!

Store is very clean, great selection on everything from oil for your car to baby clothes to a big selection of grocery items. The staff is always very nice and helpful, I'm only giving it 4 stars because on multiple occasions ive waited over 30 mins just to check out. Ive seen 2-3 employees behind the counter talking/laughing while they only have one register open. But I wouldnt let that discourage you from shopping here, its a great place to find the items you need to put dinner together or find the items you need.

It wasn't the store or the worker yesterday it was the homeless man who was out front of the store yelling cus words and my husband and 12 year old with me and the poor 2 female workers there didn't really know what to do or say but maybe if they are told to call someone to have them remove so costumes feel safe as well as workers

Went in today and seen the $5 off sale, grabbed some blankets with the "brown dot" like the add says and went to purchase and was denied the use of the coupon which does not state the rules of the coupon so I got a few, come to find out the manager wouldn't let us buy the blankets.. which we were buying for the homeless.. a coupon is a coupon and should be more defined of the limits. Otherwise that is falsely advertising and you denied me of purchasing blankets with the coupons for the homeless. I will be speaking to a lawyer about this...

I love the dollar general store, it saves me more money by buying what i need for only one dollars for each and every item, and the products that i buy from the dollar general store are just as good as any other stores selling the same products, and i thank all the dollar general stores for being opened to the public, thank you so much.

Good place to stop when you're in a pinch. I don't have a grocery store immediately near my house. Dollar general well have done if the stuff I need without having to drive a mile away. Good prices not too expensive.

All its missing is a produce section. No lines, friendly staff, will take your purchases and load them in your car, prices OK. Senior friendly, plenty of parking, open till 10 pm. Convenient location.

if you go to play store and get their app,you can save money on alot of things every Saturday they have 5.00 off coupon if u buy 25.00 its on any receipt ..they are the only ones who do western union after 7 pm..and the employees are very sweet and helpful.they have tons of things..clothes shoes rugs pillows 1 dollar things also.clean store...

This Dollar General in Barstow, is by far the best one I've walked into and shopped in the high desert. It's spacious, very clean, and well organized.The staff is fantastic, friendly and so help. I spoke with the manager and let him know he's running this store wonderfully. I'll be shopping here everytime I visit Barstow from now on.

Upon my visit on 6/29/17 I was greated by a friendly albeit extremely soft-spoken employee by the name of Alex. This simple "Hello, Welcome to Dollar General!" was by far the best part of my experience at your store simply because I share names with the employee and she was pleasant with a genuine smile. I spoke a return "Hello" and followed up with a simple question. "Do you sell plastic plates?" This question sparked one of the worst retail/customer service shopping experience of my adult life. I say this confidently because I have been a Customer Service Representative and Manager for the last 15 years. "Alex" then replied with "Uhmm, I don't really know, I'm new here!". Okay all was forgiven, she was a new employee no big deal, I'll find a senior associate and find what I need that way. I spoke a "Thanks" and casually strolled off to find another associate, which happened rather quickly given the size of the store. When I approached the other associate (long black hair, with some grey, older Caucasian possibly Latino, thin, late 40s early 50s) I first noticed the absence of her name tag, which provided a conversational inconvenience, as I'm not one to assume pronouns or marital status, but quickly moved past it's absence as I was still working and needed to quicken the pace of this trip. When I first spoke to the employee she had her back to me and upon the first utterance of a request for assistance I was slammed with more attitude than I care to try to react. The summation of which resulted in a statement of "(Long exasperated gutteral) Ughhh!! Yeah I guess I can help you find them". She made no eye contact, no smile, and was quick to turn her back and walk away without any information regarding whether I was to follow her or if she was just giving up on life and retreating into the depths below. So I followed her to an aisle which contained a plethora of Tupperware, Glad containers, and a surprising number and variety of plastic bowls and paper plates. Needless to say after about 30 seconds of silence she realized what I knew upon arrival, that there weren't any plates in the aisle. I shrugged and started to walk away and she said "Oh there's not what you're looking for here huh?". I replied "No there aren't any plates". She looked stunned at this revelation, and then addressed the other employee who was hard at work in the next aisle over. She said" Hey, are there any plastic plates?" The other employee responded with "ALL OF OUR PLASTIC STUFF IS RIGHT THERE!" "IF IT'S NOT THERE WE DON'T HAVE IT!!!" She then went back to doing whatever she was doing. At this point about 15 minutes had expired and a thought donned on me. I suggested we look near the summer stuff. Apparently this idea was just short of genius, and I inspired the no-named employee who was assisting me to follow me on my journey three aisles over to the summer stuff where I found the plates I was looking for. Within only 10 feet of my initial entry point to the store and my first encounter with the still smiling cashier. I spoke a few joking words to the no named employee who was looking rather amazed that I had found what I was looking for, and said "well I guess all the stuff isn't over there, maybe you should tell her that( in reference to the mysterious woman on the other side of the Tupperware aisle)". No-name responded "Haha, yeah I guess your right, but no I can't say that to her, she's the manager!" My customer service senses exploded at this point and I replied rather snappily "Then she would be the FIRST PERSON I'd let know". I walked away and finished my transaction with the rep at the register. My change was in hand and I was on the way out the door when I heard the Cashier speak to No-name asking her the location of some Children's Tylenol. Another long sigh ensued and I made my way out the door feeling sorry for whoever it was that was about to spend 20 minutes searching for Tylenol for their sick child. This is the worst experience I've ever had in any customer service establishment. I'd ask for a refund but screw it!!

I love dollar general, they have all my needs! It's way better than Walmart, the employees welcome you when you walk in! I love shopping there,the prices are cheaper.

Very unorganized but I have been lucky enough to have found some items for an unbeatable price. You might to if you don't mind diving and fishing out buried or hidden items everywhere and anywhere, literally.

Store on Rimrock sees us every day. Calvin, the cashier, always brightens our day. He is a hard worker and always ready to help and makes us laugh. If we weren't retired he is what we would consider a great employee to have. We both retired from a fortune 500 company.Our only complaint is store doesn't stock enough of the Tastybake donuts. Hostess now sucks.Barstow, California
