I am a Volunteer at the Baldwin Park animal shelter. It is a blessing to be with all the dogs and cats that are in need of help. I can say that we really help them. I was seeing some bad reviews about kennels not being “cleaned.” We clean them EVERY SINGLE DAY we check up on the kennels after every hour to see if there were incidents. Of course they are going to poop and piss because they are animals. We are trying our hardest to keep them clean but you can’t just judge us for not cleaning them if we do that every single hour. I am so proud of the staff that we have. They help and protect the dogs. Thank you.🙂

Baldwin Park Animal Care Center is a hidden gem of the LA County shelter system. The staff and volunteers care about these animals. If you are looking for a dog or cat, check out Baldwin Park shelter - you might meet your new best friend. 🐕

Not very nice to people with a family loss, told me 72 hours for pickup of our dog that passed. Or bring him to Disposal for $10. Once there, short staffed well people lined up waiting g for help. Then asked to wait 10 mins with dog in car. Then I advised he was a huge dog they brought a little cart once shown he thought he should get a wheel barrel. They need more workers.

I would give a 0 if I could. There was a cat that showed up to my house (4 nights straight). At this point, I was going to keep her, but I was hesitant because I was not sure if she had an owner because she was so well trained and friendly. One night, she didn't show up but there was screaming near my home (We live in a gated community).A dog got a hold of the poor cat, however, my fiancé caught it in time. We were able to get the cat and saw that the cat either had a sprained leg (or a broken one). No abdominal swelling and although I am not a vet, l am a nurse. I didn't see any manifestations of internal bleeding, she seemed okay. She was alert, not lethargic or anything. She did have 3 large gashes in her leg, but immediately my sister and I cleaned them and wrapped them with antibacterial solution. We panicked, and I wish I knew to just take her to a vet instead. But, we decided to call animal control because- I mean they help animals right??WRONGEveryday since they picked up this poor kitty, I checked their website hoping for an update and hoped that she recovered so I can pick her up and take her home. Had I known what was going to happen to her, I NEVER would have had my fiancé call and should have nursed her back to health myself or taken her to a vet and paid out of pocket. ANYTHING would have been better than taking her to this death trap. I went to visit the cats yesterday, and I didn't see her. I went to ask the front desk and they told me they had to euthanize her because she was"Suffering". In reality, we all know that there is no 24 hour vet. She was considered a stray, so she had no chance anyways. They just didn't want to deal with her. So they put her down. I am heartbroken. In disbelief because I knew that cat had a high chance of survival. However, it was taken from her because I called in hopes of these people saving her. HORRIBLE!!! that cat was the only thing helping me cope with the death of my daughter's father and they took that from me and my daughter. Horrible people. They just didn’t want to deal with another injured cat not caring at all if someone wanted to adopt her and I’m sure they do this often.

So today we found this dead cat outside our house. My mom was freaking out my nephew and nieces were all sad. It looks like a big bird trying to take it. So my mom wanted me to help her with this matter I didn’t know what to do so I called the animal shelter. They were very nice professional and they took care of me. I really appreciate it.

I took my grandson for the first time. And the experience was great for both of us. He was a bit intimidated by all the barking, but other then that it was impeccably clean. The animals looked to be taken very good care of, but some of them had the saddest faces. I hope to go back soon.

The kennels were fairly clean and the staff are friendly. Dogs appeared to be in good condition. I’d recommend considering adopting from here

Unfortunately the staff here does not care about the animals they only care about a paycheck. Upon visiting this location, they had dogs mistreated and bleeding from paws and mouths. I informed one of the employees and they said we are closed leave out of side gate. We informed them no one came to assist us back there with the dogs and we had been waiting. We picked a dog but needed to know the next steps for adoption. They refused to help us since they had closed just 5 minutes yet we were still inside the property with the dogs. They said we would have to come the next day. The next day, that specific dog was adopted! Very horrible feeling maybe if we were a different race we could have received better customer service!! I feel sorry for these dogs at this facility and the California Food and Agriculture Code and the California Civil and Penal Codes should investigate this place again! I will be sending photos of the dog that was bleeding!

Courteous, loving and efficient staff!!! My puppy needed his vaccinations and it was our first time. Not only were the prices affordable but the process was expedient. They were so kind to my puppy and I and they didn't become agitated when he peed on their floor...lol. I will definitely return for his next round of vaccinations.

Came in right before closing to check on an animal that was picked up from my neighborhood, chick at the computer was nice and very informative once I kept prodding her with questions but the lady officer could be more polite instead of ignoring questions directed at them. Overall decent place, nothing to RAVE about so far.

Came here almost a year ago and adopted my little Polly (formerly "Flower"). If you're looking for your next baby or a new companion, this is the place to go. I would urge you to consider the older/senior animals. My dog came totally trained. She knows to go outside to potty, she's very good on a leash, and hardly ever barks. Even when we take the train together, she'll fall asleep in my lap. I highly recommend that you talk to the volunteers. They know these animals better than anyone else and can tell you about their dispositions. I think the lady that I talked to was Kathy (or Katie?). I told her that I also had a cat at home, so the dog had to get along with cats. She was able to take my dog to the cat area and hold her in front of the cages. Obviously, it went well. Also, if their ID number is highlighted, that means they're gonna be put to sleep soon. I just want to tell Kathy (or Katie) not to worry about this little girl! I'm making sure she lives her best life possible, and I can never imagine life without her.If someone got rid of her just for being too old (she's too well behaved to have been a stray) they messed up because I came up on a wonderful dog!

Clean shelter with a lot of dogs and cats of all ages. Dogs are outside with big cages that are part covered and part not. They also have heaters which is nice. Moat of the dogs cages were clean, other than those that recently went. Dogs seemed to be happy and in good care, though some appeared to have a cold. The kitty ward was a big garage space with many cats and kittens. Staff was friendly and helpful. Worth checking out, will rescue as soon as I can

Pretty good experience at the shelter. They are pretty busy, I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing but overall everything went well. They have so many types of animals there.

Who ever answered my phone call. Shame on you. I told you I found a baby kitten sick dealing with eye infection, super skinny & fatigue & instead of being helpful you transferred me to a dealership. Smh, ridiculous.

Every one needs to know just cause a animal grows big don't mean they aren't cute or capable of showing affection or love . The big dogs don't get attention from people looking for a pet . People need to see big dogs are still lil puppy's when it comes to love and affection they just protect the owners better then smaller dogs . Pick a big dog it will love u so much more and watch out to protect you much better then a small dog . Big dogs need a home and loving people to make them feel like pets again not as on a death row in a kennel .

Officer Leal was very helpful. He assisted me with my dog's license renewal and he was able to clear up a mistake with the chip device in the dog.

Adopt DON'T shop! There's so many beautiful & wonderful dogs & cats in here who are in need of a good home! Breaks my heart seeing them all like this. This shelter has a friendly staff always willing to help & answer any questions you may have. For the most part, the cages are always clean. They have their vets around, which is great. The atmosphere for ME personally is depressing cos I'm a huge animal lover & seeing all these animals like this makes me tear up when I can't do much about it. Once you adopt an animal from here, it'll be with its shots & info. Overall, a good animal shelter & I urge everyone to come look at the wonderful animals & give them a forever home. They more than need & deserve it."A dog is the only thing on this earth that will love you more than it loves itself"

It's great if you're having problems affording food for all your dogs. They are very generous. And the one time they took

After days of talking about adopting a dog, the whole family visited Baldwin Park Animal Shelter. There were a lot of dogs. The staff helped with extra information on the three dogs we were looking at, e.g. if the dog got along with other dogs or younger kids. The Animal Care Technician that helped us (Edna) was especially helpful with her knowledge in answering all of our questions. The husky we decided on was there for 2 months. It's only been 5 days, but he is already a member of our family. We feel really lucky to have him in our home.Much thanks to all the staff at Baldwin Park Animal Shelter and the work they do!

The ladies who sit behind the computers are absolutely not helpful at all. The volunteers outside with the pets are incredibly helpful, compassionate and want what is best for the animals. If our shelters are so full WHY is it so difficult to adopt. The close at 5pm Monday thru Saturday. At 415 pm they were closing up so I couldn't spend time with the dog I want to adopt the lady at the counter said. Volunteer outside said it was ok with him.Lady at counter Saturday 10/21 was rude, unhelpful and crabby person I have met in a long time.

On July 7 I adopted a beautiful German Shepherd by the name of Jasmine! She was a little bit animal aggressive and I had to return her to the shelter. Today July 13, I called the shelter to see if she was available. They told me “yes she’s available come on down we close at 5 o’clock“ My mom wanted to adopt her. A beautiful home, a beautiful backyard. And by the way I found out Jasmine loves to swim, and it just so happens there’s a beautiful pool! When I returned her, I told the behavior specialist that she was a one person dog, possibly a couple however, probably not around children or a lot of other animals. I personally owned five German Shepherd‘s! This dog is absolutely beautiful, and is a wonderful dog my mom wanted her as a companion and of course as a protector. What I mean by protector is to bark when there someone at the front door, let her know if somethings going on. My mother is 84 she’s alone and she would love that dog the way dog should be loved. That dog has been there since April 23. Almost 3 months in those tiny little cages. No wonder the dogs a little aggressive towards other animals, can you imagine being in a cage like that with all those other animals in there! So we went and bought the dog a Tempur-pedic bed, a ball and some other indestructible toys from Costco and of course the water bowl and food bowl etc. when we got there they told us that we were not allowed to adopt her that she’s going to go to a rescue! A rescue? You have somebody here that has no other dogs, is a woman by herself that would love the dog senseless, and would love her back and you’re telling us she’s going to another shelter? This is absurd! That should never be tolerated. You’re going to send it to a shelter instead of sending it to a loving home? What are they thinking? That’s unacceptable! It’s not only intolerable and unacceptable it’s just flat out stupid! She has a beautiful home and a beautiful backyard and Jasmine would love it! Jasmine likes to swim and needless to say she would have a beautiful pool to do it in. Please help save Jasmine! Any calls or responses to the Baldwin park Humane Society would be greatly appreciated. It’s not fair that they’re denying that dog a loving home and sending that dog to another rescue, that’s just not fair! Jasmine deserves a better life and we can give her that. My mom fell instantly in love with her and her heart was broken when they told her that they were sending her to another rescue! That’s insane and that’s just flat out stupid when you have somebody that truly wants that animal! Thank you! Erin and Joyce.UPDATE: We adopted Jasmine! Thank you Mr Rodriguez and Officer Figueroa! She’s a great dog!! We love her very much! She’s so great with my mom and she’s very good with kids! She’s a great addition to our family and my moms home!

My girlfriend and decided to rescue this adorable dog as our first pet together. We knew he had some medical issues and drove 400 miles just to see him. After seeing him, we fell in love. Concerned about a small fracture in his hip and an upper respiratory infection and ear infection, we chose to go to the vet before taking him 400 miles home. The vet took xrays and it showed he had two significant fractures in his hips causing them to be significantly displaced. They kept him in a kennel for a month with no pain meds with two horrific breaks that needs immediate surgery. The vets even fell in love with him and offered to try to find a way to keep him from being euthanized. Poor dog needs a miracle because this last month in their care has been cruel to him. I'm just grateful that he is not going to suffer anymore and at least will have pain meds if he does end up getting put down. Now for this 400 mile drive home with heavy, broken hearts.Update: I heard from the vet that, upon further tests, the dog had a small fracture in one of his hind legs and a third fracture of his pelvic bone. They were amazed he was able to walk at all with the severity of the injury. The medical staff at the shelter told me that he would be fine with bed rest and the small hip fracture would heal on its own over time. Either they were misinformed by the vet they work with or they blatantly lied and failed to disclose important medical information to me while not providing proper care of the animal while he was there.

Found my beautiful baby here, staff was nice and moved things along very easy. Only problem was had to wait 3 days to pick her up during a very inconvinient time window(Tried to adopt on Thursday at 11am, had in-law pick her up Monday 5pm because she was the only person who could leave work early 😡)
