A year ago a young lady by the name Jennifer had been mistreating the dogs I said something to her and she ignored me. I mentioned something to someone who told they were in charge and time went by. on February 8th of this year a young lady Melissa groomed My babies Riley Pooh he is my Maltipoo and my Yorkie Valentino. Riley had patches everywhere and Valentino was cut all the way through.She had cut off all his hair. I started sobbing because his hair was beautiful and their was nothing to fix. So I made a complaint to the floor manager Santos Riley was fixed but with horrible attitude Valentino has to wait for his hair to grow back his play dates in West Hollywood were canceled. So on April 14th Jennifer whom is the lead groomer had retaliated with my Riley Pooh. Cut him and burn him with the haircut machine I had made a complaint to the store manager named Marlo and she sent my baby and my daughter Candy's baby to the VCA Veterinarian hospital.I am so mad hurt and going through emotional stress because all the cover up at this store. Marlo had told me her and Jennifer were close friends and I told her about the animal abuse, she took it lightly. Also one of the girls there told me their washer machine was broken for three months that they were bring their own towels from home because Jennifer and Marlo told them too. I was pretty shock especially for a store chain that big to not fix a problem like that for so long was odd. When I told Marlo that I was going to call the corporate office she told me no need and gave me her personal cell number. Again another cover up. She tried telling me that I should look elsewhere to shop and find grooming services elsewhere. I think these people need to be held accountable for what they have done to my fur babies and all the other ones that they have mistreated. They don't like animals, they are there for a pay check they do not deserve. Marlo the store manager started telling me where and why people had gotten fired and where I could possibly find them.I ask that Petco investigate this store, and hire people that actually care about animals, please. Very horrifying 😩 Petco did pay for the vet hospital bill, but this should of never had happened to begin with. Shame on you Marlo and Jennifer, you do not deserve to work with any kind of animals to begin with. And all hair groomers should know how to cut all kinds of dogs hair otherwise speak up and say that you don't know how.

We went to Petco and had the greatest experience at this Bakersfield location. Santos is awesome, he really knows his stuff. We got some starter fish and he explained which ones were the best to start with. We also helped me out with my classroom hermit crabs. I could have talked with him for hours! Will return for all my pet needs. Jazzy the cashier was very friendly, great customer service at this location.

Petco is great. They have a large variety of pet foods, high end to low. Helpful employees. CONS: I had to use a cart from store next door, Petcos are always short on carts. BEWARE ordering online, sometimes the math doesn't add up!!!

I ordered online for in store/curbside pickup to take advantage of the 20% off offer. They cancelled my dog food. I had to get ready for work, so I had my son run in to look for the dog food. There were 3 bags of the exact dog food that I ordered on the shelf. I don’t know why that part of my order was as cancelled but I am having this issue often with Petco. As a member, this upsets and frustrates me. And because we bought it in store, we did not get the extra discount.

We went into the store to buy pet food and a companion for our parakeet. The gentleman who helped us was very knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and patient. There was not enough employees in the store that day, so he was running from customer to customer to the register, however, he took the time we needed to answer our questions, share his knowledge and didn't make us feel rushed at all. He is a huge asset to Petco and should be rewarded for his excellent customer service!

Cashier was completely rude. I was standing in line I was the only customer in her line, and don’t even acknowledged me. She calls for another customer, as if I was just standing in her line for no apparent reason. All I came in for was crickets. First time something like this happened very disappointing

I was lost on what to choose to help our little dog. Then Marlo came to teach and show me what could help her. On top of being knowledgeable and helpful ,she explained their guarantee. Thank you big time! And Tori the cashier also has awesome customer service abilities just like Marlo. Thank you!! ( from one of those old grumpy vets)

This Petco sucks. Beware They mess up my moms and mine dogs hair cuts before, I told Jennifer who supposedly trains all of them she cut my dogs hair she mess up the face he doesn’t even look like himself, he literally doesn’t play much, dogs have feelings too . They don’t know how to cut hair, none of them all the good dog groomers left . They messed up my dogs hair the first time. I thought I could trust them again, especially Jennifer, who is the trainer. Now, I do not want my dog to go back, which is sad because they knew they messed up my dogs hair and also they had to pay for the vet hospital bill since they don'twash their machines.That Petco everybody is rude. They say I was rude. I am taking my dog to somewhere else who knows how to groom dogs' hair. If they didn’t know how to do it, Jennifer could’ve just said something so unprofessional of them. More to say, I had to call corporate on them all of them. DONT GO FOR GROOMING HERE!! And yes, I took a before and after bc they messed up around the face they cut it to short had to even take him to hospital because he next day he had bumps on his eyes. I have pictures of before and after. It was his bday, April 15 he was wearing his polo, but the picture after looked like someone just shaved him straight through, so mess up. Very disappointed at her, she should’ve just left his face like that or cut a bit, not a lot like she did.😢😢😢

The staff are awesome. They're friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. If you can't find something, they're quick to help you find it, make recommendations, and/or help you do an online order if something was out of stock. Amber and George are my faves .

Clean store, nice employees- just didn't seem that the shelves had some bare spots where more cat food can be placed.I'm just saying this cause I use to work at the other Bakersfield location when it first opened up years ago & management made a big deal about keeping the shelves full.

Sassie and George see their favorite groomer, Rita, once a month. That is a great time to pick up other pet necessities, toys, and pretty much whatever you need. Staff is very pleasant and does their best to keep the line moving. I appreciate they have "adopt don't shop" events for dogs and cats. The visiting vet is also very good for shots, but books up quickly.

They need more baskets and employees.. had to carry a bag of dog food myself.. no basket available.. and the girl looked at me crazy when it was a 50lb bag.. plus wasnt going to let a girl do it alone.. was kinda bugged she didn't ask to grab half but still..

My husband and I took our 19 month old dog Ozzy to get a Harness that will allow me to hook the leash on his back not by his neck as he has a collapsed trachea. I saw a young man there who was not currently helping anyone else and he helped us measure Ozzy for a harness and collar and Ozzy was so calm. Our experience was Wonderful.

I went in to purchase fish. I asked the cashier for some assistance. She called someone but they were busy on the phone. I waited at least twenty minutes by the fish tanks. No one came. Workers were busy stocking for nearby departments, but no one asked if I needed help. I finally was frustrated by the lack of attention and made a purchase of shrimp grass and left. The cashier explained the fish person was on a phone call. The feeling of being not worthy of being acknowledged is why I never want to visit any petco ever. I went to Pet Smart across town and was I acknowledged as soon as I walked in. I was asked if I needed assistance and had my fish within minutes. Everyone was extremely pleasant. I felt I was a valued person.

They charge $104 when thay advertised $47. Now with current economy adds up pretty quick if they decide your dog needs special shampoos, double coating extra brush, everything they want they just keep asking for more money. Never coming back

Petco groomers are extremely kind and supportive to all my questions as a pet owner. The prices i feel are a bargain for the level of work that is done. Every time I pick up my dog Santa from his appointment it always feels like a “reveal” and its just a fun experience for me and my wife and kids. I will continue to be a regular customer. Thanks Petco.

Dog groomers are not very good. Afraid to untangle a dogs fur and referred me to a vet which the vet was weirded out as its usually the groomers job to do it.

I appreciate this store because it exists. Bakersfield is limited on places to shop for pet products & wish this town offered more locations. Having said that, my experience shopping at the Gosford Petco hasn’t been ideal. Overall, the staff is friendly, and if you happen to need assistance AND lucky enough to find someone available to help, they are knowledgeable, kind, & helpful. However, that alone is a task in itself. They always seem to be short staffed. I can roam around the store for 30 minutes trying to find what I need while looking for someone to assist me, answer a question, or find a particular product—no one is available on the floor whatsoever and the one person that is working, is overwhelmed with customers trying to maintain the register with a long line of customers trying to checkout. I have yet to visit this store in a timely manner, there is ALWAYS a long wait line with at least 8 or more customers waiting to pay. If you plan to shop here, be prepared to wait because there is no such thing as a quick trip just to pickup dog food. As for prices, I would say the dog food is reasonably priced and the selection is good. As for other products, I really enjoy the line of dog shampoo they carry. I would certainly recommend trying the “Well & Good” Plantiful Lavender product line. It is the best product I have tried and Petco seems to be the only store that carries it. If you’re looking to find wearables for your fur-baby, their selection isn’t bad but wish they offered more choices along with (xxs) extra small sizes for my toy-sized baby. They also lack a decent selection (if any) of dog & puppy bows and don’t carry any that adhere with Velcro. A bow with an elastic band is worthless & a waste of money. Perhaps poodle owners find them of good use but even then I’m doubtful. All breeds both long & short hair dogs deserve to look pretty. I wish they would offer a better selection of bow ties & flowers besides their normal limited few of 2 or 3 they usually have stocked. My short haired pets need Velcro strapped flowers 🌺 & bow ties 🎀
