This range is out in the middle of BFE CA. That said, it’s a good outdoor rifle, shotgun and pistol/revolver range. Many different options for shooting targets and zeroing in your scope. Staff is friendly and helpful but strict on safety. The only drawback is its location.

I experienced a wonderful meeting with the guys at 5 Dogs Range. I was able to finally get there to activate my online membership and was greeted by the nicest and most professional team one could hope for when coming to a shooting range. They explained everything we needed to know clearly and asked if there were any questions at each discussion. We asked several questions that I am sure were silly but they were so happy to answer. He said: better to know than to make a mistake that might injure someone. I was glad to see the diverse range of people there as well. They too were all so nice and welcoming. We look forward to a long and happy relationship with 5 Dogs Range. Thank you for a great experience.

They have very rude employees and they have very poor targets and 1 million rules that don't have nothing to do with safety. I guess being the only local outdoor range we are forced to go but if you have another legal place then go.

well-kept facility and lots of fun -these are just a few of the highlights that I experienced during my visit to the shooting range.The experience was just amazing and I highly recommend the shooting range.The team was extremely nice and professional. Thanks a lot too Joe and Jo!They were always willing to answer my questions and help me with anything I needed. They made sure I felt comfortable and in a safe environment from the start.The facility itself was very well maintained and organized. There was ample space for all visitors and the equipment was in top condition. Safety precautions were taken seriously which gave me an extra sense of security.As for the fun factor, I wasn't disappointed.A amazing experience!!! Hope see us again 🇺🇸 🇩🇪

Staff is incredibly awesome. Steel targets are the best. I brought a buddy and we both hit the target 135 yard out with the 45cal 1911. Awesome day for both lf us. Haven’t been to 5 Dogs range in about 15 years until today. Brought back memories of my Uncle Bob taking us shooting for the first time. Miss that dude!

Today the wife and I decided to go out and get a membership. I'm 46 and belonged to my high school shooting team. And have shot very little since. Last year when we purchased a very in expensive pistol a pheonix .22 we haven't really had a chance to fire it. I called another range last week were we purchased our pistol and to put it politely I just didn't seem like a good fit. We called 5 dogs. They was very friendly and helpful on the phone. We get there the staff was extremely friendly. Went over the rules and helped us. At one point a staff member came down and actually went over our pistol and listened to our concerns and even fired a few off. Then showed us how to fix it. This place is awsome and everyone was super friendly. For a old truck driver like myself it's hard ro find in expensive hobbies with limited time home. This place definetly made sure my wife and I had a awsome day. Thank you 5 dogs

Awesome friendly staff and range was great. First time here but I got the membership anyways. From the way they explain everything respectfully and not in a condescending tone (a big plus especially for those new to their second ammendment freedoms no matter how violated and meager they may be in this state) to the spacious range and multitude of options with the other clubs running on the same property. There's something for everyone.

I went today with my family out of town. Very proffessional staff I felt safe and it was fun. I had problems with my magazine ejecting cause of my ca compliant button uggh during a linebreak and right away they showed up to help. Best shooting range ever!!!

Excellent range. The staff are very friendly, professional, and attentive. The range is massive with targets out past 600 yards at the rifle range with dozens of booths, and well over 100 yards at the pistol range. Prices are very fair and there’s no lack of places to shoot.

*WARNING* DO NOT BUY AMMO HERE!! *WARNING* They're very incompetent in the new California law doing background checks on ammo. The place is great cause it's wide open and usually never gets packed because the drive to the place sucks. Also the metal targets are awesome and perfectly spread out, so every time you hit your mark it clanks loudly giving you a good satisfaction on your shot. Unfortunately the employees here are very new to the system and pause when doing it asking for help with other staff. They charge $1 regardless if you fail or pass the background even though you pass everywhere else these guys will say you failed at least 78% of the time, like I literally came with a group of 5 and we all failed. I had bought ammo multiple times this week at second amendment and passed, yet at this location I failed. The fat guy who did my background check said my driving license wasn't valid literally!!! A DMV issued drivers license wasn't made correctly!? I was blown away when he told me that, I also told him I bought some yesterday and he said it can change everyday. In conclusion this place is amazing but the staff ruin the experience.

Great place to shoot. Many different bays separate, Long range, pistol, rimfire, shotgun. New shooters can feel comfortable with the lay out.

It's a great range, it's my first range I went to and I've been coming back. I've went to 2nd Amendment and they are ok, but at 5 Dogs, the staff are great at conversating, have excellent service, and the only stupid questions are ones not asked as they told me when learning what I needed to know. Hot dogs are worth the price for me, ammo is a good price, but I love the fact I can bring my own, and they have excellent targets like the steel targets that make a satisfying ringing noise, letting you know you hit them. Clay shooting is just as fun, and because it's such a great range, I've been buying guns more than just my pistol for security, and have made it a passion for myself, and I live close to the 99, so getting these is no problem and love the scenic 30 min drive out of Bakersfield, which most of us I'm sure see that as a good thing. My days off are on Wednesday and Thursday unfortunately, but that's why as soon as I get off work, I gear up and go, like they say, from sun to sun down! Hope this review is helpful!

Excellent range for up to 600yd. Mostly set up for 3gun and western but has a range for all shooters except long distance shooting. it would be nice to have a 1000+yd target stand, I would visit more. Other than that, great place to shoot!

Nice range NOT set up for mostly 3 gun and cowboy. about 6 or 7 ranges set up for everyday shooter all with enough space to have elbow room. Range is run safe but they dont nag you for everything you do. Keep the gun unloaded untill you get ready to shoot and keep it pointed in a safe direction even if it is unloaded and you wont have any problems.

Respectful staff, their farthest target on the rifle range sits at 545 yards. On the pistol sector you can either plink at steel plates or set up paper targets. Great place to go relieve some stress and make sure you bring cash to eat some hotdogs! :^)

Great place to go shooting. Is set up for beginners and well experienced shooters. And most if the staff is friendly. But some can be very arrogant and rude and ruin some of the experience.

Great place to express my GOD given 2nd AMENDMENT RIGHT!!! Go early Saturday/ Sunday or on Friday/Monday to beat the crowd! Great place for hand guns and shotgun!

The best gun range in Kern County by any measure! The only downside is that the drive sucks, and hot dogs cost $4. But hey, it isn't that bad.

Wonderful shooting opportunities for most any any type of gun or shooting type of activity. Moderately busy, but does hold special events, so I would recommend calling in advance.
