This awesome little gem my boyfriend and I found on our way out of town has all the bells and whistles. We ate out on the patio and it was wonderful. The food was excellent as was the service. We split the seafood omelet and added biscuits and gravy. Too much to finish.We'd love to go back on another trip there and try their lunch.

The atmosphere here is amazing! We sat outside and had a front row seat to the ocean and pier landscape. The outside patio was shaded in parts by beautiful overhanging tree branches, which just added to the coziness of this little beach area eatery. Our servers were all very attentive and the food was plentiful and very tasty. Try the homemade corned beef hash or the Eggs Benedict served on mushroom and crab cake for something a little different! The biscuits and gravy were ok, but would have loved the biscuits to be a little larger and fluffier. Cinnamon roll was good, but seemed to be made more cake like rather than made with a yeast dough. All in all, a great breakfast with friends, and lovely beach breakfast experience!

My husband selected Fat Cats for lunch on vacation because he used to be a regular 30+ years ago. I can't rave enough about our experience! We actually got there between the lunch and dinner rushes and were met by extremely friendly crew! The diner was pleasantly decorated and the seating was comfortable. However nothing prepared me for my meal. I ordered the ahi burger. It was perfectly seasoned, cooked, and accompanied. Definitely will stop by every visit to this part of Cali!!!

I've been here a few times, and the food, service, and atmosphere are all really good.My wife had the stuffed shrimp, and I had the stuffed salmon. We both stole from each other's plates and agreed that the food was fantastic. The Clam Chowder is some of the best we've tried in the area. Will continue to return and recommend!

I got the ahi tuna tacos which were absolutely delicious they were a great size and can't with rice and beans. The amount of sushi grade who tuna in there made these tacos delectable and a great deal! and my husband got the oysters and chips which he said was delicious as well. The service was great and there was no wait. Cute little place close to the pier.

The food was as good as I remember, service was really nice. Has an OK view of the bay from the patio that can be obscured by vehicles in the parking lot. Lots of patio seating, but smaller indoors. Definitely worth the visit. Had an opened faced crab sandwich and a grilled fish sandwich. Both were very tasty. I debated the breakfast which is served all day

We have eaten at Fats Cats Cafe in Avila for our anniversary. We stayed in Avila for 3 days and we are at this restaurant twice in 2 days. Great menu selections, I ordered tubes and tentacles for breakfast (calamari lol) they still delivered great tasting food. My husband’s seafood eggs Benedict and ham eggs Benedict was delicious. The view was amazing, overlooking Avila Beach. The service was fast and food came out in a timely manner.

My cousins and I love stopping by here to eat. We’ve been for breakfast and dinner and the food is amazing. The western burger for lunch/dinner is so filling and satisfying. I always get the chicken fried steak for breakfast and never disappointed the gravy as well is amazing. My absolute most favorite appetizer to get is the gravy fries. Absolutely delicious. The staff is always friendly and both inside and outside the restaurant are offer the best views of the ocean. Can’t wait to go back again.

Let me introduce to you the best kept secret, The Fat Cats Cafe. The service here is amazing everyone was nice. It was easy to get a table. The food was fresh and cooked to perfection. I actually ate something I never had before, which was Linguica sausage. It's a Portuguese style sausage and it was perfect. Overall, me and my pregnant girlfriend were very happy with our experience. The restaurant is right off the water with great views. Not an over crowded beach at all. That's why it's the best kept secret.

We came here for breakfast since the menu we saw online looked great and I'm glad we did! They looked packed but still made room for our 8 person party! Eating outside was very refreshing too! I ordered the eggs Benedict with ham and received a huge ham steak under my poached eggs, phew it was filling! My husband and dad got the biscuits and gravy and I poured some gravy over my potatoes, wow it was delicious! My son ordered a kids pancake breakfast and shared that with our toddler daughter, it was plenty! The staff was extra friendly, our food came in a timely manner, really there is no complaints! Oh if your child likes hot chocolate I'd recommend it, it comes out with a huge mountain of whipped cream and chocolate drizzle!Kid-friendliness: Offers kids menu with crayons, kids plates are filling! Also the hot chocolate is a child's dream come true! Highchairs for toddlers are available.

The food was good. It was a cute place and had some interesting items on the menu. We ordered lobster tacos and grilled fish tacos. They were served with rice and beans. We wanted to order dessert but the item we wanted they were out of. They had gotten busier and we had a difficult time getting refills and the check. I finally paid with cash so we could leave. The views were good though and people watching interesting.

I was torn between their breakfast special of homemade hash w/ eggs or the biscuits & gravy, so I asked the server which he would recommend. He said the hash with biscuits & gravy as my choice of toast. Both were AMAZING. If my plates were any cleaner they may not have had to wash them!🤣The place is small, quaint, but quite popular. Every table inside was taken, so we sat at the bar. Within 10-15 minutes, the patio tables were full!Wheelchair accessibility: There are stairs to get into the restaurant with a wheelchair lift next to them. Patio tables are easily wheelchair accessible.

It was my weekend getaway to Avila Beach. My husband and I had a bowl of clam chowder, oysters, ahi tuna burger, and local halibut(fish & chips). Everything turned out GREAT except fries. Fries were cold. I highly recommend their local halibut(fish&chips) if available (It was special menu on the board). Staffs were friendly and everything was GOOD.

Cost me $75 for a chicken sandwich, the basic egg plate and nachos. Then when my daughters asked about refills on their hot chocolate they brought them out but no one said anything about zero free refills so it cost me $20 in hot chocolate. My coffee was room temp and i had a minimum amt of creamer. My toast was cold when they buttered it so my butter never melted and the chips on the nachos were already soggy when it was brought to the table. Not worthy of the location in my opinion nor obviously the high cost of food that wasn't even extravagant. Very disappointed.

Fat Cats is our first stop for breakfast when we visit Avila. The Seafood omelet is a must. The homemade cinnamon rolls are also a winner. We also stopped by for dinner one evening and ordered the daily specials fresh halibut with mango salsa and fresh Ling cod fish and chips. The halibut was moist and grilled perfectly. The mango salsa totally made the dish. We also enjoyed the fish and chips. The service is always excellent. Go early on the weekends for breakfast to beat the lines.

My husband, my 3 month old baby and I ate dinner at Fat Cats and the food and service from everyone there was fantastic. Our server, Martin, was one of the best we’ve had in a very long time. He was so friendly, attentive, and gave us great food recommendations. When we arrived, they offered to seat us outside and brought us a heater so we’d feel comfortable on a chilly evening. Here is a secrete spot. Local people recommended this place to us. Worthy price with gigantic size! Good views outside to enjoy brunch! We had shrimp toco, sea food omelette, basic breakfast and Nacho. They are really good! Highly recommend to spend a whole morning here! Fantastic.

Fat Cats offers beautiful views, competent staff, and decent food at decent prices.The butterflied Gulf prawns were a little disappointing, but only because I know the real deal. Ain't nothing better than fresh Gulf shrimp. Not bad, just not what I had hoped they would be and nothing like you'd find on the Gulf Coast.The rice pilaf is excellent, with fresh vegetables. Some of the best I've ever had to be honest. I don't usually use cocktail sauce, but theirs is delicious and I did dip the shrimp into it.My fiancée's fish and chips was okay, with large portions. I noticed that those who ordered breakfast were getting huge portions, too.If everything had been as enjoyable as the rice pilaf it would have been a five star experience. It's actually closer to a 3 1/2. Nothing was bad, it just was just lacking... something. We walked away fed, but somehow underwhelmed.

it’s always good to come back here when we are in town. Friendly service, cool location with great view. We tried the delicious soft shell crab club sandwich on the special, recommended if you like soft sell crabs and club sandwiches like I do!
