My wife and I had an amazing time in the tandem kayak, which we would definitely recommend for couples. The wildlife was spectacular! We saw a lot of otters and sea lions including babies of both! We stopped and explored at a couple of the beaches and hiked around the lighthouse. This was a very magical experience!

My friend and I got here an hour before closing and Matt and his family were very accommodating to let us go out for a little bit. It is neat to see all the wildlife and boats as you kayak around the bay. Super friendly couple that owns it knows the area really well. BONUS: Ask Matt where the best sunset in the area is. You won't be disappointed.

What a blast! My son and I decided to kayak on Mother's Day and we are so glad we did! When we arrived they gave me a rose which was very sweet and they were kind and helpful! They showed us what to do and we had an absolutely amazing time and will be back again and again!

We went Kayaking in Avila Beach and loved the service we received from the staff at ABP. The area we Kayaked was amazing. We were able to view lots of wildlife (otters, sea lions, birds etc) and you can kayak to a small beach which leads to a path that allows you to see a lighthouse up close and personal. This lighthouse isn’t accessible by land, so you pretty much have the area all to yourself. Very fun family day!

My wife and her friends actually rented a few kayaks from this place a couple of weeks ago, and relayed an excellent experience to me. They said that it was relatively easy to book their kayaks online, and then go there and sign a few consent forms/pay, and off they went. It's $35 for a single person kayak, and I believe $50 for a tandem. Definitely worth it and not too expensive, surprisingly. They also offered a brief kayaking tutorial provided by the staff before they departed.My wife and I went last week and kayaked all the way to the Avila Lighthouse, which is incredibly beautiful and full of seals and sea lions. The Kayaks were fantastic and everything worked out beautifully. Very good customer service and we will be going back.

Great place to rent a single or double kayak. You can also do paddle-boards if you are up for it. Paddle around the kelp beds and find some sea otters. We counted at least 18 when we went out. Occasionally a dolphin may pass. Paddle by Smith Island which is covered w Brown Pelicans and Cormorants. You can also beach beach the kayak and hike 5 min to the lighthouse. Beautiful!

Our family loves renting kayaks at Avila Beach Paddlesports! It is located in a beautiful bay area, it’s a great half day outing for family, and it’s affordable. It also has a destination option, the Port San Luis Lighthouse, and the new management is extremely accommodating. Recently the staff patiently waited for us as this year we have had an infant to setup with other family onshore. All in all we highly recommend this venue. Can’t wait to go back!!

I came to Avila as I was driving through California on a road trip and had to make a stop to kayak. It was a perfect morning out with calm winds and friendly smiles welcoming me on the water. The sea life and peacefulness was amazing, I can’t wait to go back!!

I can’t say enough good things about Avila Beach Paddle Sports a family own company with inexpensive rates and amazing staff. Vincent the shop owner took us on one of the best adventures ever! We did the Avila Beach Paddle board Adventure (SUP) tour. We saw so much beautiful wildlife, checked out the historic Point San Luis Lighthouse, and hiked Whalers Island. Even if you've never paddled before, this will be an incredible experience! They spend time teaching you how to do it and make you feel so comfortable. From the sea life to the beach, light house and the swing... you truly can't beat this. Can't with to come back!

The kayak and the team at the rental were great. They held onto my keys and gave us an instruction session. That was helpful even though I've kayaked before. It was a lot of fun. I had trouble getting out at the end of the trip since I think the dock was too high (I'm short) and the tide may have been going out. Anyway the guys securing the kayaks helped me. Another kayak rental I did in Morro Bay has a landing slot you slide into so you are secured and it's easier to disembark onto a platform level with the kayak. But that's in the estuary not open ocean.

Make sure to give yourself time to find parking, the earlier, the better. All of the staff was really friendly and helpful. We got a quick run down on how to use the oars, what area to stay in, etc. It was a blast! And the weather was perfect. I highly recommend this place!!

Rented a 4 hour double kayak mid week (Monday). Staff was friendly, helpful and got us out on the water quickly. Kayak and paddles were in good condition. We had a great morning on the water. Paddled to the lighthouse and back. Since we had some extra time we made our way to Cal Poly Pier. Best part was seeing the seals, otters and diving pelicans. I would highly recommend Avilla Beach Paddlesports.

Highly recommended! The team at Avila Beach Paddlesports are so friendly and helpful. We needed to change some times after booking online and it was no problem at all. And the kayaks and paddles are all in very good condition. We hired two tandem kayaks in the morning to go around Avila Bay and get to the lighthouse. It was definitely one of the highlights of our California trip…maybe even our favourite!

I have kayaked & SUP’d in a variety of places and hands down, this is the BEST place I have ever gone. The staff is so friendly & helpful. They were so pleasant even though our large group kept changing up the time & equipment.#1 is their location & launch point. They have an excellent spot where they drop your kayak/SUP into the water. It avoids the problem of launching through waves breaking at the shore. This has been a game changer for my kids or family visiting who get a little nervous about those kind of things.I love that we can paddle under & around at least two different piers and all the sea otters we see in the water. Getting to the lighthouse is quick & easy and is a must do!

Incredible experience with Avila Beach Paddlesports. This is a small family owned operation that truly takes pride in their work. They give you a few lessons if you’re unfamiliar with the equipment. They also provide you with everything you may need to hit the water including water proof phone cases, for a small fee. The area is perfect to check out the seals and occasional sea otter appearance.Can’t recommend them enough, If you are in the area definitely pay them a visit for an incredible experience. You won’t regret it.

Easy to make a reservation. Make sure you read the fine print regarding cancellations! We went at 11 am on a Saturday and there were only two other people there. They suggested a route and did a quick demo. We struggled to get back due to the wind picking up so we were an hour late, and I expected and asked to pay additional but they were really kind and didn't charge us. Overall the experience was good but I think they could've provided better instruction for people new to SUP.

The crew at Avila Beach Paddle Sports is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. They showed me everything I needed to know and I had a blast paddling along the coastline of Avila Beach. They are definitely the place to go for kayaks and stand up paddle boards.

The only place in the county to spend your money on watersports adventure. Alyssa is so nice and honest, she somewhat recently bought the place front Vince. While they don't advertise selling rather than renting equipment, I love picking up used or new paddles, boards, life vests, dry bags... She has the quality gear at the best prices possible. I told her she needs to charge more because she'll sell stuff at her cost, but she says she likes giving good prices to good people. Well she made a friend with me and I'll be back again. Check it out when on the central coast. At least grab a dry bag and a hat to support this local owned place
