It is the only option for fresh produce and meats . Reason being, it is on Santa Catalina Island. Although, the prices in and around Avalon are "tourists priced" , Von's is not . The prices are what you would find on the mainland. Good custalomer service, friendly and professional. Always well stocked and great deli.

I actually liked this grocery store. As a tourists I didn't want to get caught up with the "Tourist Trap" prices of the local eateries so we shopped at VONS. For a small location they had a good selection of food, wines and decent prices. My only issue was the produce section was a bit disorganized and some produced looked bad.We cooked dinner each night in our suites and enjoyed every meal.

Small, but vital grocery store on the island. It's about 1/2 the size of a "normal" Vons on the mainland, but twice what it used to be! Decent selection, but the service could be better.

If you are staying in Catalina, this is a great place to get some of your meals between activities. Their deli has an EXCELLENT assortment of hot foods and the booze selection here is stunning. Had some of their roasted chicken and broccoli & cheese soup for lunch before one of our hikes and that food kept us filled until we got back later in the evening. Service here was friendly and helpful, lines always moved at a decent pace despite being the only supermarket on the island.

Surprisingly a huge amount of vegan options for such a small city. I loved being able to find vegan cheese, mock meats, and all my favorite vegan goodies here. This was the best place to eat vegan on the island, as many of the restaurants were closed due to COVID while I was there.

Nice grocery on the island. Some staff super friendly. Wifi available. Albeit extremely busy and long lines at times (think: wait for an hour), well stocked and clean. For those visiting from other areas, it’s a brother to “Safeway.” Tip: Go early morning — May not be as well stocked but no real wait time to check out…

This store saved me a lot of money had several people within our travel group didn't want to spend money going out to eat multiple times a day so went shopping here very fresh produce even organic at some good prices for it to be on an island, great selection of items I was able to get water shoes from here at a discount! They had prepared foods, organic snacks, organic produce ect anything you can think of, I was also able to use coupons and reward point here as well gave me 10cents of their gas station. The times I went the place was packed like many establishments they look like they were short staffed. I would highly recommend and come again!

Its a bit pricey but it is on an island and the only one of its kind. However, it is clean well stocked and have quite a variety of items. The service is nice. The cashiers are friendly and have a sense of humor.

Great store to visit away from the mainland. Vons has almost everything, It's such a huge variety.Definitely visiting the island again and saving some money with produce from here the next time I visit. Definitely more price friendly to frugal people. You can buy a whole pack of Popsicles for the equivalent of one from here vs the beach area. Definitely a must stop shop.

High marks for a class act. Lovely market, lovely shopping experience. Everything was top draw. The goods were a sight to be hold. The total package was one of a well cared for store. Help was very helpful. This was in the islands off LOS ANGELES. Very sweet an well taken care off. A pleasure to have visited it.

Vons was a great shop for all your needs, I loved having access to a market that offered everything from produce to hot meals to even wine. There is both cashier and self-service options to check-out. The staff are extremely friendly and you do not need to sign up to be a member, I was told I could easily enter my phone number for the store discounts. One of my new favorite markets.

Great selection but rude cashier. He asked if we wanted to enter a phone number for savings. We said no. He said “are you sure you don’t want savings?”. We explained we are from overseas and don’t have US phone numbers and he said “I’m not asking if you have a phone number, I’m asking if you want savings. You don’t want savings?” Sarcastically. He continued to insist and we kept saying no. Then he made a big annoyed show of giving us the savings anyway because he is a “nice person”. Literally why are we being coerced into entering a phone number when we don’t want to. Every other place you go to just moves on when you say no to joining the rewards program. Very strange and grating interaction.

I knew coming on to the island with a fish allergy would be challenging and I was prepared to eat something random from the store, but Rosa took the time to find me something hot to eat. They really know how to pack in the items here. It's the narrowest aisles you'll find at any California grocery store, but that comes with the territory of being on the island. Great selection given the space. Cashiers are always friendly. They'll keep a Von's Club card to scan if you don't have your own so that you are not overcharged. Nice place.

They had Organic Watermelon which my local Vons never has! Prices on steaks and seafood are good considering the price hikes for island living. Parking may be hard to get if you go around lunch time, but otherwise we never had any problems and got everything we needed there. Prices for beer is a bit expensive...$20+ a 12 pack for cans! Better than the $7 per beer they charge at the restaurants though.

It had everything I needed. Notoriously more expensive than other stores( Vons usually is) ..but that's to be expected being the Only store on the island; supply and demand. Clean. Employees were polite and available for assistance. Easy to get to in a centralized location. I'm here on a cruise stop so that's a plus!

Anna Hunt was the rudest and most unprofessional person I've ever dealt with. I have never felt so belittled and upset while buying my groceries. At one point, she even rolled her eyes and threw my receipt at me. Given the fact that she's a supervisor, I expected way better customer service. Her treatment of my friend and I (only because we didn't know self checkout was for 10 items) definitely put a damper on our stay.

Went to get my groceries and was told I couldn't purchase without a mask after waiting in line. I am unable to wear a mask due to health issues and told both clerks this and they didn't care. I went to the self checkout and successfully checked out. You should replace your employees with robots. They are more polite than your current staff.
