The tranquility of the garden & fountains is surpassed only by the sublime bliss found in the soaking tubs & sauna. The starry night sky was framed by the exquisite living walls surrounding the copper lined tub I relaxed in. Pure ambrosia. The room was unpretentious yet lovingly & tastefully decorated. The level of comfort in the room was the kind you typically enjoy while visiting favorite friends or family. The happy birds chirping while I enjoyed my breakfast on the porch was a delight I will not soon forget.

Mixed feelings on this, we really wanted to like it but it was more of an Airbnb rather than an inn. The whole room was incredibly small and the showers were barely big enough to fit in, and I'm not a large person by any means. The parking is also first come first serve which isn't great when you come in and see the amount of homeless roaming the streets. This isn't at fault for the inn but it's something to consider if you're traveling alone. Our heat also didn't work the first night and it was in the low 40's/high 30's overnight so it didn't seem like a lot of maintenance was done prior to our arrival. I don't think I'd stay again just for an outdoor tub/sauna.Rooms: Room was very small with a small shower where the toilet was basically in the shower.Safety: When you were inside the property, it felt safe. But outside of the property, I did not feel safe or secure by myself.

Beautiful stay. We rented the "Resting Light Lodge" with our daughter. We all enjoyed the beautiful outdoor baths and the local cafes. Our lodging was clean and well supplied with everything we needed as well as some special extras (fresh eggs, fench press). A cozy and romantic spot. The saff is friendly and quick to respond to requests and questions. Only minor complaint would be the occasional noise from the street and pedestrian traffic, which was likely specific to our lodge location ( one of the walls is by the main street).

Had a really sweet stay at The Front Porch Inn (TFPI) this past weekend. It was my wife's 30th birthday, and we were returning to TFPI for the first time since our first roadtrip together quite early in our relationship. It was even better than we remembered: really lovely rooms with everything you'd need (without the glitz/glam), very colorful and charming (esp. the spa amenities in the courtyard). It's too bad that we live so far away, as we'd no question stay here more often – it's beautiful with great access to attractions like Redwoods National Park and Avenue of the Giants. Arcata is a sweet town too with nice shops and incredibly friendly service – that goes for TFPI too. Shannon was exceptionally sweet in helping me set up our reservation. Couldn't recommend more highly, we're looking forward to coming back!

This is a bohemian, hidden sanctuary filled with lush gardens and outdoor spa amenities. There are so many originally crafted details from reclaimed wood and stone and there are little waterfalls everywhere. You would never guess, from the outside how special it is! Once you walk in the front gate, you’re immersed in a gentle tranquility. It’s almost like something out of a Tolkien novel. Service is friendly, welcoming and seamless. The rooms and suites are unique, cozy and comfortable with a touch of whimsy.

The pictures are great but barely do justice to this amazing place. The bathhouse courtyard is simply spectacular with soaking tubs under the stars and a gorgeous sauna to wrap up the outdoor experience. The thick, lush living walls make you feel like you’re the only lucky people there. The room we stayed in (Waterfall) wasn’t technically very big but the thoughtfulness of the design makes you forget the size. The little things matter here: fresh eggs in the fridge, a truly functional kitchen, Starbucks VIA and oatmeal packets, an electric kettle and much more. Finally, the art of the woodworking around the place deserves a museum show. New redwood window frames, reclaimed wood moulding, and driftwood handles and faucets in the bathhouse are just some of the highlights. The location was safe and right next to walking trails through a gorgeous marsh which we enjoyed with our dog. The beach cruiser bicycles quickly whisked us to a unique and quirky downtown with sandwich, bagel and coffee shops. So fun!

Great stay! A unique inn that's a hidden gem in Arcata. Fantastic gardens and spas on the property and the attention to detail throughout the property is incredible. We stayed in Sundrop and it was the perfect size for the two of us. The farm fresh eggs, oatmeal, hot chocolate, and teas available in the room were a nice touch too. Functions as a contactless inn, but we messaged their contact number and received prompt responses. Great experience!

Basecamp room was such a fun room to stay in! We didn’t want to leave our room. There’s so many fun things to look at, it felt like an escape room! Sleeping in the tent was a really cool experience! We also throughly enjoyed the hot tubs they provide here and how you have walk through a fern jungle to get to them. We had a lovely, relaxing time, and we will be back again!Noteworthy details: Farm fresh eggs in fridge, working fireplace and firewood, games and cooking utensils provided

Stoped here while driving from SP to Portland. For $100 more than a motel 6 is absolutely worth it. It was great that they were let friendly. The good:The place is absolutely beautifulThe tubs and sauna are wonderful. Love that they’re open 24/7. I’m traveling through and felt so great to be able to go into a hot pool after my long driveIt’s definitely worth the moneyThe a little less good. Nothing major but things to note:The room was lacking outlets by the bedThe walls are relatively thin so I could hear the very loud TV of my neighbors till 1am which kinda prevented me from going to sleep. It seems like every one else was being very peaceful so maybe I just got unlucky on the neighborsI didn’t really check out the neighborhood so I can’t speak to what it he lack to be here for a longer period of time.

We stayed in the the Garden Breeze. The room is beautiful, the outdoor tubs are wonderful, and they left farm fresh eggs for us to eat for breakfast along with teas, hot chocolate, and other cute little things. They kitchenette is adorable and everything was fantastic!! The bed is the only thing that brought the room to 4 stars because it loudly squeaks with every movement. They did provide earplugs which was nice though. We’ll be returning and trying out a different room!

We loved our stay at The Front Porch. Someone with an artistic eye has decorated every niche, nook, and cranny with a thoughtful assemblage of antiques, mid-century, and modern furniture and fixtures. Then to top it off is a fully furnished kitchen complete with every imaginable implement, wine glasses, even a garlic press. We'll never forget the vine and fern covered outdoor soaking tub. It was a highlight of our tripWalkability: Very close to the charming town square and a large grocery store

Sweet little safe alcove tucked walking distance to the Arcata Marsh, Redwood Curtain Brewery, Pub at the Creamery and various points thereabouts. Communication from the hosts was excellent, tricky key codes and lock boxes worked just fine. The experience was closer to a VRBO than a motel. Our room was charmingly appointed and yes, there were fresh eggs in the fridge. We had a brunch date and did not sully the kitchen, but if you are wanting to cook some food it appeared fully equipped. The courtyard was captivating, thank-you Shannon for your personal attention!

We stayed in the Sundrop, which is a little independent building at the back of the property. And we LOVED it. The room is indeed small, with a one butt kitchenette, but it was thoughtfully decorated and very comfortable. We enjoyed the tubs and sauna, and had no issue with parking. Would definitely recommend for an unforgettable stay.

Nice getaway tucked away in Arcata! I have stayed here on three different occasions now and I must highly recommend the Sundrop cabin if you want to avoid the issues of thin walls and hearing neighbors. It is tucked in the back of the property and feels very private. Very much enjoyed the hot tub and the woodland aesthetic. I'm a sucker for details and I can't help but point out how every knob and piece of furniture was obviously carefully crafted and picked for the theme. Definitely plan on booking again at the Sundrop in the near future!

We thoroughly enjoyed our five night stay in Riverbed, which is beautifully decorated, comfortable and very well equipped. The "Inn" operates as a contactless AirB&B, where the host is available by phone. The "breakfast provided" consists of a bowl of eggs for cooking, plus instant coffee and oatmeal. The Inn is located in a plain, mixed residential neighborhood, convenient to the marsh, downtown Arcata and the North Coast Coop.

If I could give this place negative stars I would. They try to represent themselves as an inn. This is very much an AirBnB place.Super hard to find.No parking. We're afraid our car would get broken into given the sketchy neighborhood this is located. Not walkable to anything.Sketchy neighborhood.Great for AirBnB-what I mean by this is you're on your own for everything if anything goes wrong, which is horrible if the hot tub or sauna have issues.THIS IS NOT A HOTEL OR INN. IT'S A AirBnB.My husband and I were very disappointed. We had high hopes for our stay here.***Please note- bookings are not refunded. Don't book online until you see the place, because if it's not to your liking, you're screwed.

So cozy and welcoming! I stayed here one night while in town for work, and would definitely return if I am ever back in Arcata. Site security is great (entry gate, off-street parking), and did not have any issues. Staff was super responsive by text when I had questions, and the bed was SO comfortable! As others have mentioned, the common outdoor space is wonderful, and the other guests I met were all very friendly.

Really pretty place. And they've done a fantastic job with the landscaping and the hot tubs and the sauna. The room I'm in is small but comfortable and really thoughtful things in place.Because the whole place is wooden floors and planks and stuff. If people tromp around in their rooms, you can hear it and almost feel it.Even given that the place is very quiet and relaxing. The only knock I would have is because the room is small. I think people sit on the bed, on the edge of the bed a lot and the mattress is kind of crowned in the center.Maybe flip the mattress more?

This is one of my favorite places to stay when I’m in Arcata! The courtyard garden is beautiful with seating made of driftwood mixed with bistro chairs around a pond with a waterfall. The rooms are small but cozy, with simple kitchenettes for cooking breakfasts or reheating food. The soaking tubs are so dreamy, surrounded by living fern walls that block out most external noise so you truly feel as though you’ve entered another world. It’s a rustic feel, if you’re afraid of bugs there are some insects, dirt, and plant life (it’s outdoors after all) , but if you’re a nature lover this place will definitely have you entranced. The location is great with easy access to the plaza downtown as well as the beautiful hiking trails through the Arcata Marsh mere blocks away. There is some street noise during the day but it’s nice & quiet at night.Dogs are allowed, so you may hear occasional barking, but you also might meet some very cute puppies coming and going so if you’re a pet lover it’s a good fit.

My fiancée and I stayed in the Basecamp room and absolutely loved it. The detail in the design and theming of this place is amazing, like the corners of the room are rounded so that the mural can more easily blend into the entire room. If you don’t use the outdoor baths while you’re here you’re doing yourself a disservice, we didn’t think about bringing swimsuits for the sauna and were regretful that we didn’t. I have very minor qualms about The Front Porch Inn but they are so minor that they didn’t affect our stay negatively, our room was not cleaned while we were staying there which we found odd but didn’t mind too much, when we ran out of toilet paper I just texted the phone number we were sent in the arrival instructions and they got back to me immediately telling me about the small dresser in the courtyard where I could find more. We didn’t see a single employee while we were there (which is not a complaint) we enjoyed the feeling of independence, for lack of better term, with self check in and check out. Overall we’ve been home for 2 days and I miss sleeping in the whimsical little tent bed after my outdoor bath.

This place brings the lush natural beauty of the Northern California coast right into the parking lot and beyond. There are two tremendous sections of fallen redwood trees in one area that include a waterfall and pond that make you realize how brilliant the designers are. Shannon gave us a little tour of the empty units, that day, and they’re all just fun. Impress your “other” and bring them here for a recharge.Rooms: It’s the little things. I forget that I can’t see without my glasses when I get in the shower and can’t read the shampoo/conditioner/body wash bottles. These guys have little signs on those bottles with a big “S”, “C” and “B” on them. Made out of chunks of wood. There’s a bowl of farm fresh eggs in the fridge! Never. Never seen that. It’s these little details that make you know that you’re being taken care of.

The Front Porch Inn was the perfect place to stay in Arcata. We were driving through to visit the Redwoods this visit, but I already can't wait to plan another trip North to spend more time at this Inn. The property was beautiful, the fresh eggs an excellent breakfast, and the service and ease of check-in was much needed. Can't wait to be back!Walkability: Easy to walk to the town square with lots of cool shops and places to eat and grab drinks!

Really unique and great place to stay. From the quirky and coolness of our room (Base Camp) to the convenient parking and relatively short drive to the center of town, we really enjoyed our stay here. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is traveling to see national parks, as the Redwoods are just a short drive to the north.

We had the best time here! We stayed in the "hangout" which had a bedroom, living area, kitchen, and bathroom. Great care was taken to ensure all products were hypo allergenic, there was no shortage of towels to be used in the sauna and outdoor baths, and the kitchen came completely stocked with every gadget you could want including farm fresh eggs in the fridge! It was so wonderfully cozy and quaint. The courtyard was to die for! All wood, ferns, moss, and stone surrounding a gorgeous sauna and the cutest outdoor tubs you ever saw. This Michigander felt right at home like I was up north in a cabin. The check-in and check-out procedures were simple and easy, the quality of the room and property was exceptional, and the location was perfect for anyone looking for northern California treasures. I can't wait to go back!!
