It's a great store with amazing employees. The store is kept very clean. There is always plenty of parking spots available, and the parking lot is spacious. CVS, Westside Pizza, Subway, and a dew other stores are all in the same shopping center and within walking distance (very close), as well.

This store price gouge you every chance they get. Safeway 10miles away has better prices. The employees would not honor a temporary state ID with two other forms of photo ID. Everything i come here I leave in a worse mood.

This Safeway is by far the worst Safeway in the county if not the worst Safeway I've been to ever there is a constant lack of items in stock and as a delivery driver for food orders they're tends to be a habit of their being things listed that they don't even have in stock or marked on their shelves to begin with it is very common for things to just be out right missing and for those of you that like your Ben and Jerry's ice cream because it's in a college town that's Safeway almost never has any they're almost always out of stock if you don't get on the day of delivery they ain't going to be in there just a heads up

There was no bakery in this store. I thought all Safeways had a bakery area. And for a bigger town..... We needed a birthday cake but there wasn't any. We got cupcakes. .Edit.....we did buy some steak and they were delicious.

I have almost always had a good experience at this Safeway. The employees alone are just incredible people. So kind caring and they take the time to make you feel important. Fernanda I'm the deli a truly amazing individual. She always makes me smile every time I go in there. I like that she always takes the time to help me and doesn't ever rush me or make me wait 20 minutes to help me. There are so many others that have been so great to us every time we go which is just about every other day. But today it was a checker named Shanti that just madey day. I have been having a very hard day and not feeling myself. She saw that and just talked to me while I was checking out and sometimes that's all it takes to make someone feel better.

Best grocery carts around. As smooth as a Cadillac dipped in baby oil. The wheels are immaculate; the steering impeccable. These carts are truly unparalleled when it comes to a grocery shopping experience.

I’ve always enjoyed the Arcata Safeway. It brings back memories from my childhood when my grandmother was alive. Her and my grandfather built the Arcata trailer Park over on alliance Road. It used to be called “Mac’s mobile manner.” And my grandfather built it back in early 1960’s.The trailer park is still there but they are both long gone. Sad that things out live people. That however won’t always be the case. (Psalms 37: 9~11,29,34)My grandmother shopped at Safeway and so I am following her example. The Arcata Safeway though has a special place in my heart because this was her Safeway. And and until just a few years ago there was actually one man that still worked at the Safeway that knew my grandmother Estelle and her sister Mammie.Thank you Safeway for still being here, for one thing, and for still taking good care of your customers.Sincerely Tammie 🙂

It is usually well stocked, and the long-time employees are the best in town (the rotation of short-term employees are less predictable). I would give 5 stars, but it drives me crazy that they pack so many items between the registers and the aisles that two carts create an impasse.

This is a nice and clean Safeway. Prices are a little high compared to discount stores like WinCo, but its produce, meat cuts, deli, and bakery items are generally much better. Given the competition nearby, this is pretty much the best and almost only, show in town.

While it is a big chain store and most of the money goes straight to the top they do some good things for our community too. Like donate to SWAP and carry organic and local products. Incredibly hard to safe distance at this store as the checkout lines are poorely placed.

I love this Safeway because the people who work there are consistently nice, friendly, and helpful. Most of the time I shop online and then pick up my order in one of the designated spaces. That service is also staffed with friendly, efficient employees. Thank you for taking care of us through this Pandemic!

Some organic produce, high prices at the deli! I can get the same prime beef slices at WINCO for literally half the cost. Could have more variety. Their bags are smaller than all other grocery stores to make you think you are getting a better value. Prices are too high for the quality.

My wife and I really appreciated how the staff did not try to rush us during our visit. As you might know from my other reviews, my wife Jedi, has a TBI that she picked up 5 years ago in a car accident as a result from her escaping a serious attempt on her life. We usually walk around stores for about 2hrs as she and I try to remember what we want to make for the evening. It's also a wonderful coping skill for the anxiety she inquires while forgetting some ingredients or from nasty store employees following us around who take my wife's "odd behavior" as criminal. I try to make the venture out into public as stress-free as possible by not hurrying her or attempting to make decisions for her that she would usually make for us. I enjoy following her lead around the stores, just enjoying each other's company. Isn't that what shopping should be? Thank you Safeway for being the best Safeway in Humboldt County .

Great store, one if the best I've seen in this area; an outdoor coffee area with several tables, a deli that has extensive selection of soups, specialty cheeses, and prepared foods. Wide isles, many selections of gluten salt free items

I have never seen more stingy and unpleasant deli employees.Update: if you buy their premade sandwiches, please be sure that the meat is accurately labeled. I've gotten many roast beef sandwiches that actually have ham and I don't eat pork.

Not Bad, very peaceful at night and not bustling which makes for a more enjoyable experience. I prefer less people the better. I'm not happy bout the inventory they don't restock items that I prefer regularly it's inconsistent which sucks sometimes it takes them a month before items get restocked. They also have issues with keeping employees and it also plays part of inconsistency I'm sure.

My "go to" grocery in McKinleyville for three decades. No, it is not a cut rate store, but I know the normally stocked items, the whole store is very pleasant and the shopping experience very satisfying! The produce section is my favorite, followed by the deli and bakery area!

This location is constantly out of items that are on my shopping list. They often stop stocking items that are popular and take a very long time to restock items that are sold out, sometimes more than a week! I seldom go to this store before 6 or 7pm because they treat most people who come into the store as if they are thieves.

The deli was frustrating to deal with. The worker there was confused and I had to explain to him that I ordered meal 2, a preset meal with an entree and sides. Once I ordered, he gave me heaps of coleslaw and potato fries and two bony pieces of chicken not fit for a starving dog to eat. Other than the deli the rest of the place was okay.

This location is more expensive than the other nearby cities for some reason. Seems unfair to charge almost 40 for a normal meal in a college town. But sometimes this is the only option compared to the other food stores around.

Clean store. The beer selection could be better. Deli has nice amount of prepaid selections. Their sandwich options are pretty good. Hot soup available. Their fresh guacamole is good. Helpful staff. Their donuts are very good. Highly recommend.

I enjoy Safe-Way, the store is always clean, the staff are kind and helpful. The store carries a large variety of organic fruits and vegetables along with vegetarian, gluten free, and paleo diet options, and of course the quick fix meals that have become essential in today’s busy lifestyles.
