What's not to like. Good people selling good things. They helped me find that sticky stuff to keep your pictures from bouncing off the walls during an earthquake. I also take my packages there for UPS. The T-Shirt contest was cool. I wonder if Tigger won?

You'll always find a smile and someone to help you find what you need. It's well stocked with 3 separate stores: housewares, paint, and hardware. It's rare I have to go any where else for my basic home needs other than lumber.

Interesting store with different buildings, kind of fun, especially the candy store :-). Lots of variety of hardware, paint, tools, plant, plumbing supplies, their fishing section is growing. They even have cool toys and candy!Staff are courteous, variety of expertise. Parking is a little tight.

Was supposed to be open till 5:30, found out when I got to the door that it was randomly closed at 4 o’clock. Phone just kept ringing then cut off, no message with hours. Website had no change to the hours listed. It’s hard to be part of a community when you will not keep your doors open reliably for them to access the goods they need. Please try to do better.

It’s a decent hardware store, paint store, household item store (cleaning/kitchen/bathroom), and candy store. All these substores is really nice to have downtown so one can walk to get goods rather than go out of town. One of the best spray paint collections on the north coast.I am not giving a higher rating because all the shade trees were removed and a very unwelcoming black metal fence was put in. The fence is not attractive and makes it more congested as a pedestrian trying to walk into their stores. Also the entrance of the main store was downsized to one where it was two before. These changes not only effected the shopping experience but the neighborhood experience.

A smaller hardware store, so they don't always have every single brand, but I rarely find something they don't have. Staff is knowledgeable, but can seem a touch busy sometimes. The location is extremely busy, no matter what time of day, but I rarely have to wait much for anything. Paint selection is pretty great. Cashiers are always friendly and quick. I go to the Arcata and Eureka Ace hardware shops and think they are all different but helpful!

AMAZING kitchen section!! If there’s some random kitchen thing you’re looking for, I’d be surprised if they didn’t have it. They have things you didn’t even know you needed. Have a good selection of simple/small kitchen and other appliances (not fridge/oven/stoves) also. Only reason it’s not 5 stars are the 5-6 times I’ve been in the employees have been only ok, not rude but not super helpful or pleasant.

Huge selection of kitchen accessories, lots of cleaning products, and a fair amount of hardware. Staff is generally friendl and sometimes can answer my questions. The parking is tight, I really dont like having to shop and pay in two places, and the aisles are jammed so tight like a horders house, which makes it really hard to find anything.

Went in at about 4:30pm on 2/20/23. The lady running the candy store was extremely rude because we were touching things, trying to look around and read charm cards. She said, "I'm a lady, and I guess they don't teach that anymore," referring to us not being so. Which is absurd as a person in customer service. I would never talk to customers in such matters! Sadly, I will be stopping my years of shopping here. Will say the gentleman at the register was kind and apologetic.

Very nice sales persons, but the price of paint is not within my price range. I did buy sand paper and mold prevention spray. It is a very pleasant place to look around 😀. A lovely place to shop!

This is the hub of our little town! This store is owned and operated by a local woman and Mom and just an all around great person. Yes this is a standard hardware store... AND they also have an awesome paint department, a kitchen store, a nice selection of kitchen outdoor furniture and house plants and carry brand names like EGO and YETI. I also regularly purchase gifts here for friends young and old. A big perk of shopping here is knowing I am supporting a store that supports the community in return. Hensel's is always donating and sponsoring local events and even puts on their own in their parking lot. In short I recommend shopping here!

It's convenient but a little pricy at times. The first couple of times I was here some of the staff seemed annoyed when I asked for help so I stayed away for a bit. However, my last several visits have been great & one member of the staff, Evan, has been a standout reason. He is polite, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful & patient (I had a lengthy list of items I needed). Bobbi is another staff member who was helpful, friendly & knowledgeable & she knew what I needed when I explained my problem. Recommend.

Avoid Arcata location, misery in a hardware store . Management at Arcata should be ashamed of their floor staff:( My wife refuses to go there now.Try Sunny brae, it’s better stocked and the staff are consistently very approachable and knowledgable.

I only go to this store if I have to. They treat most people that come in as if they are going to steal something. The employees pretty much shop with you and if they are not babysitting you they act like you are bothering them if you ask them for help. The one in Sunny Brea is much better and the 2 or 3 extra miles of travel is well worth it.

What a great place. If you need it, they have it. They have it all. Kitchen supplies, cleaning supplies, paint supplies, camping supplies, tools, hardware and more. They even have a candy shop (closed due to covid right now). And to top of it off, the employees are friendly, knowledgeable and professional.

Been going for years as it's the best hardware store in Arcata a million times better than the one in Sunny Brea. Little pricey but helpful and well stocked. It's weird though they're in two buildings so you never know what's in which building. Going down a list I've had to go back and forth a few times and you pay separately in each building. So it's find what I need, pay, go next door, find what you need, pay, realize you need something in the other building...

Almost anything you need to fix your home can be found in here. Good selection of electrical and plumbing parts. Helpful, knowledgeable folks in red vests. Prices are a little high, but at least you can take on and complete a job with what you can find.

Not your normal Ace Hardware. Great people and awesome service but so many different locations for things. It makes it almost so you have to ask someone where it's located. Every now and then I don't want to talk to anyone. Just get what I need and go!

This store is always clean and is very centrally located. The staff is always super friendly and very nice. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. The location is very easy to spot from the street as well. I always come here for all my hardware needs when I am visiting or living in humboldt county.

This review is for the housewares/candy portion of the store: I was followed around the entire store and felt incredibly uncomfortable as if they thought i was going to steal something. I’m a student and don’t look particularly sketchy, though that shouldn’t matter when it comes to customer service. Extremely terrible shopping experience, particularly in their tiny candy shop area. I couldn’t look at a single thing on the shelf without the cashier walking up and peering over my should repeatedly asking if i was looking for anything in particular. Who is looking for anything particular in the candy section of a hardware store?? Just let me browse please. Super uncomfortable experience. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.
