Awesome rock shop! Super helpful people and lots of inventory. That is very affordable! It was easy for us to find. The staff was super helpful and we had a lot of fun looking at all the rocks.

Stories In Stones is well worth visiting. I visited for the very first time, today, and I was so impressed with their inventory and their prices, as well as the organization of the rocks/shells/jewelry/etc. and the labeling of each individual item in each case. I lived in Madison, WI for the last decade and I visited the vast majority of rock shops in that area and I have to say that this shop went above and beyond my expectations. Bravo to the owner(s) and the staff! You've done a fabulous job! I'll definitely go back there. The copper from the Keweenaw Peninsula was quite nostalgic. We love the UP! Lake Superior is forever in our hearts. It was so uplifting to see this as part of the rock shop in one of the cases. 💗My husband and I are rock lovers. My sweetheart bought me an incredible Quartz on Sphalerite Matrix specimen for our 1 year anniversary, today. Thanks for helping us celebrate! Your store no doubt makes a difference in the community in Angels Camp and beyond! ✨

An absolutely MASSIVE store with hidden treasures everywhere! A section for Retail and wholesale and then the display pieces at the front. A definite place to go if your just looking around it or buying, the prices are unbelievable, mostly the rocks by pound! Hope to see this place again!

This shop is an amazing place to go! When I was young, I went here when I was on a vacation with my family. At this time in my life, I wanted to be a paleontologist. I was in awe of the fossils and pointed out scientific names of taxa that were shown. The owner of the shop noticed my enthusiasm and invited me over to his private workspace in the back of the shop to show me how he cleaned fossils, made casts, etc. The owner, and this shop, left a lasting effect on me because of the great experience I had there.

This place has an absolutely fantastic. They had an unbelievable assortment of gemstones, fossils, mounted butterflies, beetles and bats, too!! The assortment of gemstones was massive...the storefront opened up into a large warehouse and that was when I realized that this place had the biggest assortment of rough and tumble stones under one roof that I had ever enjoyed.

Came there today with my husband from out of town just to see, and we were not disappointed. I was amazed with the extremely well organized inventory. The prices were amazing. We will defenitly be making another trip to Angel's Camp to visit, and buy more beautiful rocks. What I bought today will be an excellent add, to my ongoing rock collection!! Thank You Again😉

What an amazing store! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Incredible variety of items in all price ranges. There is something here for everyone from the souvenir shopper to the casual and experienced collector. Great spot to get a unique gift or something special for yourself. We were glad we found this unique store when visiting the area.

The owners seem very nice and knowledgeable on stones and gems. Their collection is impressive! So much to see, and sea shells as well. They have more raw stones that jewellery but it's still beautiful.

I love love love this place. Took 3 grandchildren there today and have them each a $10 spending spree. They each came home with a bag full of rocks, crystals and sea shells and fossils. They can't wait to go back. The staff was very nice and knowledgeable about everything in the store. Very unique.

This is a great little "Gem" of a store. The staff are friendly & very, very knowledgeable, they know their stones. I know nothing about stones other than my birthstone & maybe couple others. Several of the ladies I was with had been there before. They have beautiful jewelry, all kinds of stones in all shapes & sizes. I think they have gemology classes there. Will definitely be back.

This stone and fossil shop is amazing! My family has been coming here for 25 years and it's still fun to come buy something new every time we are in the area. Their prices are extremely fair and they even have a wholesale room in the back. There's something for everyone, from $0.25 small quartz stones to a cave bear skull for $900. We spend so much time looking every time, even if we intend to make a quick trip. Well worth the stop!

Cool inventory and great place to waste time in if you like rocks. The woman who was working was kind of rude and actually said that they didn't have any fossils, which they do... the owner finally came out front before I left and he was very sweet and knowledgeable about the different rocks. Just think he needs a better staff that knows more about the inventory and how to talk to customers. If I hadn't talked to her I would give the place 5 stars!!!

More than happy to write a review for such an awesome shop!I have been twice to stories in stone and both visits were great. Super friendly, best selection, and well priced. On my first visit I was fortunate enough to talk with one if the owners, Russ. He kindly shared some his extensive knowledge on paleontology, geology, and the items in the shop. I also overheard him being very patient and informative to a couple who had no interest in minerals but we're in the shop to see if something they had inherited was valuable.My favorite thing about stories in stones is the learning center that is open for the public to explore. They also host field trips, workshops, and parties (if I remember correctly).The learning center alone is worth the visit, but it will be difficult to resist the urge to bring something home.

The store was larger than I expected and even saw stones there that I had only read about. Excellent selection to choose from and the prices are sweet as well. Friendly and helpful staff. They even offer to teach classes if you request it in advance. Highly recommend you give this store a visit! Loved it 💖

I absolutely love this store, the environment and the employees. They are in a town that reminds me of home and I enjoy the peace and quiet along with the frog Hall of Fame along the streets. I would also recommend Moaning Caverns, the repelling and cave tour are awesome.

I look forward to visiting this store every year when we visit the area. Nice selection of beautiful mineral specimens, fossils, shells,ect. Also well organized labeled and displayed. Owners are very knowledgeable and friendly.

This is the best rock and fosil store we have ever been to. We can walk around the store for hours and look at everything more than once. Everyone that works here is so nice and helpful. On our second trip to the Angel's Camp are my family looked forward to visiting this store more than anything else. The prices are excellent and the inventory is always being updated. The owner is a wonderful man who truly has a gift for teaching. He took us into the educational area and have my family a short version of the classes he gives to the school tours that come through. It is very fascinating to learn how much you and your daily life revolve around rocks and elements. The only disappointment we had was on our second visit the owner was not in the shop, however the couple that was in charge of the store that day were fantastic. They have a wholesale section that is open to the public, you just have to add 50% to the wholesale price. Even with the 50% added on anything you could want is still a bargain. This place is not to be missed if in the Angel's Camp area. I wish i could give them more than 5 stars we love this place so much.Be sure to ask about the geode that still has the water in it. Very interesting this geode was never cracked by the earth so the water is still inside. This rock is incredible. Solid rock sphere with liquid inside this is a must see at the shop.We have not been here in about two years and we are definitely due for another trip there. I was way overdue for a review of this wonderful place.

the owners have a beautiful shop/ classroom that explains there life adventuring around the world to collect precious gems and minerals and they put it all into one little Shop. it's amazing and truly inspirational. definitely a must see spot to stop if your in the area.

A real gem. I just had to use that. Explore tons of rocks and learn about everything from geology, chemistry, natural history, zoology, and geography, told by the owner of the store through the well-organized gems and fossils. Make your way through the intricately organize cases in the front, and discover the great rooms full of shelves of more rocks! Amazing to see this man and woman's life of exploring and collecting.

I always love this store. They have a huge selection of rocks and fossils. My kids really like to buy a few pretty stones each time we go and I like to look at all the different types of rocks in the cases.

We absolutely LOVE this store/museum. The owner is a very well educated man and loves his job; it shows. We spent almost 2 hours in this store the first time we visited. It is a Must stop wheb we are in the area!
