Not even a rescue, I feel sure they are just taking in turtles and tortoises just to make money off of them. The owners daughters tortoise is severely deformed, why? According to the owner they had tortoises for 20+ years before they figured out they were caring for them wrong. The animals in their care are living in wooden boxes in a shed, their bedding is pine shavings, and the food is not appropriate. Their are multiple types of animals needing different care being all being housed the same crowded wooden box. We couldn’t believe the state of where these animals are being forced to live.

I can’t say enough good things about this rescue. My husband and I own a junk hauling business in Sacramento and while on a job, we came across a large male sulcata tortoise that needed a home. We took the tortious in hopes of finding him a deserving forever home but unfortunately were unable to rehome him. Having had him for over two weeks and not being able to adequately care for him long term, we reached out to TARS & thankfully they had a spot for our big guy. Kate and David were exceptionally helpful and their sanctuary is beautiful. The animals there are very well loved and taken care of. Thank you for all you do, we appreciate you.

Great morning, even as busy as this couple are. They has the time to talk not only about tortoise but about life. Learned a lot about fishing, since he is a river guide, 30 yrs captain of coast guard, shared stories, very interesting. Was happy to adopt a desert tortoise. Great experience.. thank you both.
