The hotel, freshly renovated, was superbly clean and new. The balcony and room directly faced the ocean, offering a magnificent view. It was truly therapeutic to watch the fireplace while listening to the sound of the waves. I particularly enjoyed the essential oil-infused toiletries provided, which were very comfortable to use. The complimentary bottle of wine was a nice touch. It would have been even better if lunch service was available.

To say our stay was a disappointment wouldn’t cover it. When we arrived at 5pm to check into our room we were told that we had free cocktails waiting for us but weren’t explained why (not that we are complaining about that). After we had completed the check in process we were told that there was people working in our room and we wouldn’t be able to use our room for 15-20 minutes more. After almost an hour of waiting we went back to front desk and expressed our frustration since we had a 6:15 dinner reservation that we missed due to the room not being ready. The manager came down and asked us what she could do to make our stay better, since we had been travelling all day we didn’t know what to say. Dinner was tasty and the cocktails were strong. Breakfast on the other hand was not good. You get a 20$ voucher for a breakfast that doesn’t fill you up. The only protein option they offered was eggs at the time of our stay. I ordered a few sides because I didn’t like anything on the menu and they came out at all difference times, my partner had finished their breakfast by the time my toast arrived to the table. As for the room, the ‘sliding’ screen door it hardly worked, you had to push on it in a certain spot in order to get it to move a couple inches. The windows also didn’t lock which was not preferable. Having the fireplace and ocean view with a porch was nice.Walkability: It is not recommended to walk anywhere, no shoulder on the highway.

Wonderful lodge! We stayed in Room 20 which was very private. It didn’t share any walls and had a king bed and a spa tub! The bathtub was very nice and spacious with jets. The bed was comfortable and we used the fireplace which was very cozy. Highly recommend to go to the restaurant next for dinner and breakfast. Very good food and drinks with a nice view. The restaurant is easy walking distance from the rooms. Dinner started at 5pm and breakfast started at 8am. The only downside with the room we stayed in was the view was a bit blocked by trees/ bushes since we were at the end of the road we didn’t get as much of view as some of the other rooms.

Unbelievable view and incredible fireplace in room.. Place sits on top of a bluff and photos don’t do justice to view. Saw many birds of prey circling my morning coffee on porch.Food & drinks: Had breakfast which was excellent and fresh with beautiful view.

We recently stayed at the Albion River Hotel and it was a pretty sweet spot. The location is great -with amazing views of the ocean. It's the perfect spot to catch a sunrise or sunset. The rooms are private and not at all fancy, but they have everything you need for a comfortable stay. What I loved most about the hotel was its ” homey and charming feel”. It really felt like a home away from home. The staff were welcoming, which made the experience even better. It's clear that they care about making their guests feel at ease.Overall, I highly recommend the Albion River Hotel for anyone looking for a charming spot with amazing views. It's not luxurious or fancy, but it has everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

We stayed in room 11.Plus: Has an amazing view of the coast. 10 min from Mendocino town and 20 min from Fort Brag. Parking is free and on the hotels property for your safety. Has a small fridge in the unit. Coffee, and a complementary bottle of wine is included in the room. There is an ice maker on location. Restaurant is 2 min walking distance away. Breakfast is included in the stay.Cons: room interior is dated. Toilet is older and can hear it continuously drip. Fridge has a loud buzzing making it hard to sleep. There is a continuous fog horn going off every two to three seconds night and day that can drive you mad if you’re sensitive to noise. There’s no TV in the room. Bed is super hard. Feels like you’re sleeping on plywood.Although breakfast is included, beware of getting charged for additional items and 20% gratuity. If it wasn’t for the fog horn, i would consider staying here again.

Stay was nice, but the room needs some updating and attention to detail. The sliding door window in Room 9 has a broken seal so it is fogged and obscured the ocean view. The halibut dinner arrived cold including the rice and the filet that I had ordered rare was still cool in the inside so barely cooked. Service was good and wine and spirits list is impressive. I would not stay or eat here again with other local choices I have visited recently being better including room and food for the price.

This place is amazing! Each cottage has a great view. I did research and called ahead to figure out what room was what. We stayed in room 14 it had a private deck tub/shower combo and a single queen bed.You can check out binoculars at the front desk. I had no idea but when I saw whale I went up to the office and asked. Sure enough they signed me out two pairs. We saw a lot of grey whale out in the water.Feel free to check the pictures I posted her.Oh, there is not a tv in the room. With these views it’s not needed. But at night we did pull out my iPad to watch Netflix. Just an FYI.

My husband and I stayed at the Albion River Inn in April 2022 for 3 nights. We were in room 7. Our room has a great view but our room patio door has some blurry areas. Not sure if it is dirty or scratched. So the view is not as great as it can be when we are sitting inside as we have to look through a somewhat blurry patio door. There are a couple chairs out on the patio to enjoy the great view. See photo taken from patio. The room is spacious and pretty clean. It is an older room so some amenities are a little dated. For example, it is harder to find plugs to charge our electronic devices. More modern rooms have plugs or usb ports right on the nightstand. Our room was quiet but no one was next us when we were there.Breakfast is included. We also ate dinner at the restaurant one night. The food is fine, not great but not bad either.

If you're looking for the best the Mendocino coast has to offer, look no further. The setting overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Albion River is premium! Book dinner at their restaurant for the best in local seafood and wide selection of libations! And the staff is attentive to every detail of your needs! Stayed in one of their private spa cottages. Wood burning fireplace, whirlpool spa tub for two, wine and cigars on our private deck! It just doesn't get any better than Albion River Inn!

Pretty little hotel, but definitely needs a little refreshening. Its older and the paint outside is peeling everywhere. The room was nice, but the private decks are really in need of attention. The 1/2 bottle of chardonnay as a welcome gift was lovely and the breakfast was also very good. I would stay again overall as the location was nice and the views were fabulous.

Booked room 8 over the weekend and was pleased with the views this place provides. The room is decent and has an old world charm. They have a gas fireplace to keep you warm on cold nights. They also don't have a TV. There's an old small refrigerator in the room to keep your bottles cool. However, the place should have had a microwave at the least. Breakfast at the Albion River Restaurant was included.

1. The location was excellent. Almost all the rooms has ocean view. We live in Room 1 and it has Jacuzzi. We watched sunset from the balcony.2. The restaurant was 2 mins walk. The food is excellent with reasonable price. Free breakfast.3. It's great for couples for a long weekend getaway.4. There are several great restaurants nearby (for example, Michelin 2-star restaurant in the Harbor House Inn)

We were in room 5 for an anniversary weekend. By far the best views of any nearby inn or hotel. It was warm and cozy, wood fireplace, spacious tub, clean room, comfortable bed, very quiet, and plenty of space. It's a little dated but everything was in working order. There were a couple of spiders in the bathroom but that's was not entirely unexpected with the location. No TV, although they had a limited wifi. The only unexpected thing was we had no cell service, but they had a phone in the room. Close to Mendocino and Fort Bragg, overall beautiful time!

Stayed here this past weekend for my 10th wedding anniversary - and it did not disappoint! Super friendly and accommodating staff (Patty!). We only had appetizers, including the scallops and the salmon salad. Both were outstanding, but the service was even better (great job, Savannah!). We stayed in cottage #20, and I could not recommend it more. Unobstructed ocean views from the private deck and spa tub, a fireplace in the center replete with kindling, logs -- everything you need. The bed and the leather chairs were so comfortable! Albion River Inn is a can't-miss stay. We are already longing to go back!

Beautiful lodging, breakfast is included, good food with priceless views. The rooms are beautiful. In the evening you can go to the bar and experience Scotch Tastings. They have a variety of flights and over 100 different kinds of Scotch!! It's really a great experience.

Great, private room, view of the ocean, fireplace, jacuzzi, Thanksgiving Coffee in-room and a quality complimentary breakfast in the restaurant also overlooking the ocean inlet. Could add some depth to the room with real art, rather than the waiting room prints. Kinda took the soul out of the otherwise near perfect experience.

Restaurant review only—not for the Inn. The service was amazing, as was the view. Unfortunately the meal did not match. The birthday reservation was also unacknowledged, until I asked specifically for a candle in an order of chocolate pudding/mouse. The food is generally charred with smokey tastes on much of the food-burgers, shrimp, scallops, soup… The potatoes were overly tart/sour and luke warm and a bit thin. The chowder soup also had a smokey taste, and was not very warm. The rice with the shrimp curry was undercooked. Overall, a disappointing meal at a former favorite.

This place is fantastic. We still have one night left here, but so far it's been great. The views are amazing, the rooms were very clean, and the staff was quick to help with a couple small issues we had. My only couple of complaints are small, and easy to overlook and may be different for different rooms, we stayed in 19 and still loved it. A small microwave would've been great since most of the places to get food are at least 15 minutes or so away and pretty busy on weekends. The walking paths could be lit better, walking from the restaurant to room 19 after dinner, a couple drinks, and in the rain was a bit of an adventure. The fireplace could use an updated door, the folding glass doors don't seal at all, so if you want a small fire then you're going to get a good bit of smoke in the room, or it's going to burn much quicker and hotter, no real in between. Continental breakfast is meh, but coffee tastes like actual coffee so that's a win.Small gripes aside, definitely still 5 stars, everything is clean, comfortable, rhe restaurant serves good food, and the grounds are beautiful.

My wife and I have been staying here at least once a year for the past 15 years. We have always had a wonderful experience. Each room has a ocean view, private deck replete with Adirondack chairs, and a comfortable setting area inside for when the coast weather encourages one to be indoors. The restaurant offers fine dining and has an excellent wine selection. If budget conscious, ask for one of the "Original" rooms.

My wife and I had her birthday dinner here on a Friday night. We had no trouble getting a window seat about an hour before dusk. The view was breathtaking. The ambiance was very good too. The service staff was very attentive and the waitress was very good.My wife had the three course pork stew. It was very tasty and the dessert, chocolate moose was the best chocolate moose I have ever tasted. Rich and full of flavor.I had the filet mignon. It was aged, which I'm not a big fan of. I would have preferred it to not have as strong a flavor, but it wasn't bad, just noticeably strong. The rest of my meal was very good, especially the prawns. My salad was good but the blue cheese was mainly balled up at the bottom. I had a lemon cheesecake for dessert that was very fluffy and tasty. This is our favorite place to have a nice dinner on the coast. Soothing, with good food and great scenery.
