I got all my succulents for multiple containers at Thrifty Kitty in 2023. They are still thriving and blooming in my antique punchbowl and more traditional planter arrangements.

I have been a volunteer and a customer of this great organization for over two years. Hot tip: Shopping frequently is the key as the donations come in daily.

I love shopping at Thrifty Kitty! The manager, assistant manager, and staff are all so nice and welcoming. They have a good selection of clothes, shoes, handbags, scarves, books, home decor, pet items and lots of fun jewelry and the pricing is very fair. Although the store is a thrift shop, it feels more like a boutique. It is nicely laid out and decorated and they always have a nice seasonal or holiday display at the front of the store. It's such an enjoyable experience just to browse through all the items in the store. They are always accepting donations and I am a frequent donator. The best part about shopping at this store is that all the proceeds go to FAAS (Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter) and it's a good feeling to be helping such a worthy local non-profit.

Rude staff, didn't get greeted when I entered nor when I left. When I needed help putting items back, I was openly ignored so the staff could keep having a conversation with others, entirely acting like I wasn't there despite their original staredownThe African American woman sassed me for not knowing where to put an item, and snatched it from me. Maybe if she bothered to assist me at any point, I'd not accidentally put a dark blue skirt amongst what I thought were other skirts (pants, actually. Oops.)Nice selection of items, but the uncomfortable energy showed I was underprioritized.

The redhead with the bad lopsided poorly cut bob and clowny makeup with rude manners was salty that, after poorly ringing me up and double-ringing up some items, (as in trying to charge me more unnecessarily,) that I wanted her to ring up my seven items again, from the start. She stared at me open mouthed as I explained, and pretty much tried to refuse, just for us to find another error. What a joke of a worker she is.Oh how oppressed you are, needing to do your job of typing "5$," 8$", and "4$", into a tablet 7 times, on a few necklaces. She stared at me like I was insane with her snaggletooth hanging out of her open slack-jawed maw. Maybe next time she shouldn't almost charge me 14$ for a single cheap necklace, hah.I wish they'd have smarter people working there, more well-mannered/intelligent.

I love the Thrifty Kitty and have sent all my thrifter friends here, who agree it's a gem. Excellent service, friendly staff, no attitude. Great selection and prices. Lots of finds on any given day -- shoes, bags, jewelry, clothing, jeans, upscale labels and down home essentials. Speaking of home the home goods section and holiday item selection is always good. Books! Lots of books including signed editions, new books, cookbooks. Also a great selection of pet stuff much of which is brand new. Look here first for your Halloween costumes for pets and people!

It's a very new store; hours are still in flux. The clothes look good, if you're no more than a size 16; I didn't find anything. They're also rather dull colors, mostly, I don't know if that's what was donated or what they chose to sell - a lot of black, grey, beige. Some brightly-colored stuff but not a lot. Clothes prices are a little high, so are book prices - though the book selection is very good, lots of interesting stuff. There's a section of pet stuff - bowls, leashes, beds, books about animals (fiction and nonfiction), some jewelry, and some very interesting...assorted other. Pictures (paintings), nice frames, statuary small and medium, bags and briefcases, etc, etc. Worth checking in on now and then.

Theres only a couple of thrift stores in Alameda, so seeing this store pop up recently was a nice surprise! It's a pretty small store but very nice and the employees are always extremely friendly. If you're looking for a nice little place to shop around for a while, this place is a great spot.
