After leaving my dog at a daycare that left him matted, I did my best to cut out as much of the mattes, until I was able to get my pup in for a grooming. Christian did an amazing job at walking me through the cut, took the time to assess my dog, and did an outstanding job with the cut/groom. Very friendly and would highly recommend. Def bringing my pup back for his next cut.

Hello.My dog has been a client with PetCo Alameda for a while now and have never had any issues. Except on Saturday Feb. 24, I picked him and he showed severe signs of eye irritation. He could not open his eyes and seemed to be in a lot of pain. I brought him back into Petco and the groomer could not answer what had happened to him. They flushed his eyes and told me that maybe he got shampoo in his eye. I took him home and he was not getting any better. His eyes were very red and kept squinting. I finally decided to take him to the vet on emergency. He was prescribed some eye drops and medicine for pain because the Vet said he was in a lot of pain due to his pupils being dilated. I also noticed that around his eyes his hair was cut too close. The vet could not confirm what happened but I know that something happened at the groomers that day and I find it questionable that they cannot answer what they did.I had to pay for his grooming and a very expensive emergency vet bill. I know that mistakes happen but I would appreciate some accountability for this situation. Either harsh shampoos are being used or infected tools were being used on him. Came in by myself last week just to ask about nail trim walk ins and got an extremely rude response from the woman working, she said she was already late for her lunch and working alone so I said I’d come back later. Came in today with my boyfriend and her attitude was completely different (funny how that works) she had told me to bring rabies papers so I did but since the vet I went to gave me the original papers and not a printed copy she denied my dog a simple nail trim. It’s especially upsetting with how far I travel to get to this location just to get no help at all.

The people who work at Petco South Shore Grooming in Alameda are always nice and friendly, and patient with my dog. There were two people working there, one was named Vanessa and I didn't catch the name of the other one. Also Max at the front checkout counter is good with people.

Jazmine is so sweet and absolutely amazing with our pups. She always asks questions and takes the extra time to ensure they are taken care of!! She knows so much about all different breeds and makes me feel confident and comfortable leaving my babies there!! :)

After they sent me up an appointment in 3 weeks I showed up and they asked if the dog had any health problems and because she did have some mild health problems, they wouldn't take her and told me I needed a release from the doctor. They should have asked me that 3 weeks before now I had to find another place.

Horrible experience with Grooming department there, we will not be going back there.Scheduled a bath & cut a few weeks ago. Got a call day before asking to change time, and then ended up asking to keep additional time.On the day of the appointment which was at 8:15, groomer was late and did not show up until 8:35am. Myself and one other clients were left there waiting for the person to arrive.This was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful of customers time.At 10:30am, we had not heard back, so we went there to check on him. Our dog had been bathed but not groomed, and the groomer claimed our dog was too nervous and would take 5 hours to cut his hair. In the meantime, there were two dogs in their crates crying and the lady was just sitting on the computer doing nothing.They still charged us around $70 just for the bath.Our dog has been groomed every 2-3 months for the last 4 years and we never had a single groomer complain or as in this case, simple refuse to cut his hair.

my dog was extremely matted and I was not judged just welcomed with very friendly customer service and Kiuana did a wonderful job taking care of my dog. He looks wonderful and is even more playful. All of the groomers make the dogs feel safe and secure and I love that so for sure as soon as a spot comes available I will book another appointment.

Reserve way in advance, and when u pick up your pet, make the appt for the next grooming right there. They do an amazing job, so possibly booked 3months forward.

We had amazing stylist! We are so happy with how soft and clean our dog's coat came out. This is the first visit in which his nails have been cut correctly and his ears cleaned properly. Rowan was doted upon and came home in a great mood. We are so happy!

Our labradoodle was brought in for a grooming app't. recently. Last grooming package was $64.00 and I tipped 20%. I requested the second longest trim, and she was shaved to the shortest length. Can't do much about that. This time our dog was sent home after a wash, because bleeding started from a small area on her hind leg, that we were unaware of. We were told this time we were charged more because a trim is more than the buzz cut. And all we requested was trimming short around the mouth area, which was not cut at all. We were charged $78.00 + $13.00(for longer trim) + $52.00 initial visit(ok with) for this visit, wish we had been told clearly up front of new increase and add'l costs.

Be aware: If you have a "senior" dog with a pre-exisiting condition you won't be able to get your dog groomed here. BUT they will let you book and appointment and drive all the way out there before they tell you.This is the second bad experience I've had with PetCo grooming in less than a week. The first was on Friday 5/21 when I received a phone call from the PetCo in SF (Potero) that the groomer called in sick so they had to cancel my appointment. I get that stuff happens, but I got this call 1.5 hours before my appointment time and I booked that appointment weeks ago. There's really no one that can cover?But okay, no biggie - I managed to snag an appointment at this PetCo which is closer to my house anyway. So I arrive for my 2:30 appointment, but I need to wait 5 minutes before I'm seen because both groomers are with dogs. Okay. When I'm being checked in the groomer asks if my dog has any medical conditions. I say he has a collapsed trachea, so they should use a harness when grooming rather than a choke collar. Apparently, this has become an issue since the last time I got the same dog groomed at the same exact location. So she calls in her manager who quickly says, "It's not worth the risk" and denies me a grooming service. This is despite the fact that my dog has been groomed here before and has been groomed at multiple other locations with no issues. I asked if there was any policy on their website that explained this decision and she said no. I begged her to please take the dog because he has long black fur and desperately needs a trim before summer and PetCo already canceled on my last minute last week. Still says no and then proceeds to insinuate that I shouldn't be pushing for it because he's a "poor old guy" and "something could happen". My dog is an 8 year old pomeranian...he is far from being a "poor old guy" and again, he has been groomed multiple times before without issue.I even went so far to call PetCo's corporate line to ask if there was a policy about this that I could view. I was connected with someone who said that they'd look into it and to please hold - but after 17 minutes of holding, I got disconnected. Still wasn't able to find anything about it on the website, so it's more or less at the discretion of the grooming staff and store manager.So basically, you can make an appointment here, drive all the way there, get your dog in the door, and be turned away at the last minute. It's obvious to me that PetCo doesn't care about your time...or your dog even really? They care about protecting their own butts and not getting sued. Which I can understand on some level, but perhaps going to a local groomer will get you more of a human conversation rather than a corporate one.

We came in for nail cutting and we asked about the bath, she had us on stand by. But the person did showed up, yet Petco was able to squeeze us in for the bath and nail cutting/buffing, ear cleaning, teeth cleaning. Petco did excellent job, even though our dog didn't like it, but he doesn't like baths.

Do not take your dog here. Dogs are put under undue stress from barely trained "groomers." My dog has back skin tags and they did not know how to care for her. They were spraying and using a vacuum on a dog in the back. Not a good environment for pups.

Friendly groomer. I showed up 5 minutes before close for a nail trim and the groomer was friendly and did not seem rushed. Great advice about how to get the nails to stay shorter for a longer period of time too.

You can get your pets nails and shampoo for $35 to $40 took my pet there for the first time and I loved it it's I believe it's in the South shore center Alameda and they have eateries there and clothing department grocery store a bus stop that goes right through the mall if you don't drive the easiest way I know how to get here is either Uber or Lyft or Bart get off fruitvale BART get the 20 bus that comes into Alameda also the beach is right across the street from the South shore center Petco is facing the car wash and then after the car wash is the beach oh they also have their own veterinarian and hospital now and a lot of goodies for your furry family a lot of goodies for cats dogs and I think they sell reptiles there birds they name it okay community Family stay blessed stay safe stay beautiful till next time oh some of the eateries is five brothers hamburgers and fries I think there's a Marshalls there's a Pandora and I think around the block somewhere else Applebee's and there's a Safeway shopping center okay bye-bye for now ☺️❇️💓🙏👍💜
