It actually says family restaurant and bar on their sign. We assumed that meant they would be self-contained separately. Lots of colorful language used, and the family restaurant and bar are only separated by a partition. It's just a different environment than we are accustomed to. The service was good. The food was really good. It was one of the best places we that ate at while visiting California.Kid-friendliness: Not so kid friendly at night

Large menu and a full bar, there is something here for everyone.My favorites are the Bacon Western Cheeseburger and their classic Reuben sandwich. We had a great time watching Alabama beat Texas A&M. Food was good. We got the loaded French fries, a BLT and the Club sandwich. Drinks were good- I had a White Russian cocktail and my husband had an Old Fashioned cocktail. The Pecan Pie with ice cream and whipped cream was YUM! They played GREAT music…Classic country!! Nostalgia! The people were so nice! We felt like family! We will definitely be back.

I REALLY wanted to like this place. But, the new owners are really having a hard time with customer service. We waited an hour and a half for our food, and it didn't all come out at the same time (more than 20 minutes between the plates.) We never got a refill on our drinks. We will give them a few more months of learning the biz and come back for another try...probably. They seem really nice, and I do wish them the best. This is a great venue, I want it to stay in business.

Local, friendly, and a nice place to eat. I thought it was quiet, lots of talking and laughing, but no “extra” noise. Felt like the place next door with better food. I had the hamburger and he had the western burger. OMG that western was huge! Even the pickle was good.

After 4 days of hiking around Yosemite we were ready for a burger and man are we glad we found this place. I got a cowboy burger and some clam chowder and both were delicious. The burger had more bacon in it than I ever had in a burger before and the clam chowder had a good amount of clams in it and cheese on top of it!

Under the new owners, the burger quality has gone down and the prices have gone up. Ive had the burger at the old owner a few times and it was good. This time it was thinner and tasted at the end of its shelf life. 2 beers and a burger was close to 40 bucks. In my opinion, you should never have a 15 dollar cocktail on your "specials" board. I very much want this place to succeed. I highly recommend a nightly dinner special in the 10 to 12 dollar range. Meatloaf monday, taco tuesday, etc... have a decent meal at a decent price every night of the week and I think you would build a better regulars crowd. A beer and burger combo would be great as well. As it stands now they are getting close to South Gate prices without getting near the quality.

You guys have to find the balance between family friendly dining and night life. Band came in at 7 and started doing sound checks at 7:30. Just the sound check was deafening. Watched mothers with infant children scurrying to the door. About 7:45 they do a song, we had just been served after waiting an hour. It was so loud and off base from the normal music that is played in this establishment. If you don’t find the balance between the older group and the younger crowd you will start to notice the older crowd will become sparse.Kid-friendliness: My daughter had a lot to say about this place upon leaving and none of it was good. Like her mother and me, she has frequented this establishment since she was very young and very much disapproved of the new atmosphere.

I found this place just by Google and the stars and other reviews. It was absolutely delicious. The people there are nice and friendly. If you are in Oakhurst area and want good food take a 5 min drive to Ahawenne . I posted pictures so ya'll can see for yourself how amazing it was. Lol

Amazing food! Don't think this is just a hole in the wall bar. There food is top notch! The staff were so nice and when we went they were having karaoke! I came from Indiana to visit and it has been the best food I've had while in California.

Been going to the hitching post for over 20 years and since the new owners took over and the bartender they have working for them is the worst I’ve ever seen I will not go back there again Shar the previous owner was the best percent and owner. I have a met and ran a great business so sad that the hitching post is not in our Saturday morning stop for breakfast

The Hitching post is amazing. The owner is a delight. I asked for a special salad and she made me the best buffalo chicken salad I've ever had. Burgers and sandwiches are excellent also. Delicious and large portions for the price. This place is definitely one of the locals secret. A must stop. You won't be disappointed. ♥️♥️♥️♥️

Good menu variety. Service was good. Biggest burger I've ever eaten. Had to use a knife to get started. Very tasty. Atmosphere was nice. Family friendly, but also a bar separated by a wall. Pool tables and darts available.

Under new ownership and management. Easy location off HWY 49 in Ahwahnee. Plenty of parking, though, need to pay attention, pulling out of lot as can be fast traffic on blind turn coming from the north. Food is very good, friendly staff, but extremely pricey, and we called in a phone order that was never processed, so it wasn't prepared upon our arrival. Old western ambiance with local history and dance hall. Valero station and mini-mart are adjacent to the restaurant.

Very cozy local bar and restaurant. Staff give you that "welcome to the family" kind of feeling. Food was really good and far too much to eat so we got to take home some delicious leftovers. Looks like it would be a great place for night life too.

It's under new ownership. Family owned and operated. Smaller menu, but still a good selection. Servers nice and attentive. Be patient with them. They are still learning the menu themselves. Food is still good 👍🏻 😋Parking: ♿️ parking close to entrance. Also motorcycle parking area.Kid-friendliness: It's a family restaurant. There are some games for the kids to play.

The first time we went here our waitress was fantastic with a wrist she just had surgery on and the food was fabulous on a Wed lunch a few months ago. We went on a Saturday evening about 4:30 pm June 3 2023 and food was not as good and our wait people never once checked on us except to ask to take one plate away.We had to ask for silverware, then Napkins.It was only one table & our table so not too busy. Everyone has a bad day so we will try one more time because the first experience was so terrific!Extremely clean restaurant and bathrooms

Stopped in here while passing through. Great local spot. Almost passed on this place because the times published were incorrect. Confirmed that they are open Sunday through Thursday from 10 AM - 10PM and 10 AM - 2 AM on Friday and Saturday.We'll probably go back for Karaoke on Friday night.Great burgers and crispy fries!Vegetarian options: Veggie burger and salad options.
