Found a stray that was nearly killed on the highway, and brought her into this location. They refused to take her. They also suggested we take her back to the highway and leave her there. (?!?!) We ended up having to keep the dog until we could rehome her. Disappointed in the lack of sympathy and concern they showed toward animals.

Had a family of skunks in the drainage pipe running some under the street by my home. Mother skunk was trying to relocate her young up under my storage building. It took them about 6 hours to get those skunks out of that drainage pipe. They used limbs from trees, plastic water pipes, my water and water hose. Well eventually they caught them but left everything in my yard in disarray. Didn't put my hose up. The water I gave them, they drank and left the water bottles in the yard. The limbs used are still in the yard. They did a great job but didn't clean up their mess nor put my hose back up. I didn't think that was right.

Really nice people and a good selection if animals. Rich and Shamaiya made the adoption process really easy for us. We visited multiple times to make sure the dog was right for us.

I only gave 2 stars because they do good in taking animals in. One day I had come across a dog that when I stopped was gladly happy to jump into the car, he was a little ways away from home. The next day I went up there to ask about the dog that I had dropped off just the day before, they told me they did not have the dog, I had located the actual owner of the dog which was an elderly woman. I tried telling them that I had found the owner of the dog. I don't know if they didn't believe me or what but I do hope and pray that elderly lady was able to get her dog back. The place was nasty it was in a terrible disarray, and the people were very rude quick to the point and acted like they hated their job.

Very satisfied. It seems like it's a relatively new management, but they mean very well. They know all their animals by name, and work very will with those who want to adopt. I adopted two young cats. Older building but they're expanding.

This place is kind of disgusting. The pens had poop and pee everywhere. The workers really didn't help. They even lied about our puppy's age and breed. When we took our baby home, he had parasites eating him alive from the inside. Thank god we got him to a vet and saved his life. The dog was more to get than it was to save his life. The people there also kind of didn't act that nicely. It was like they just wanted us to take the dog and leave.... One more thing, the people didn't even treat my dog nicely at all....

This place is so disgusting. All the kittens had infections on their faces and eyes. None of the dog pens were cleaned. There was poop in just about every pen and pee running from the pens to the walkways. We went on a cool day and they have no heat where they keep the animals. Maybe their intention is to make you feel sorry for the animals and want to adopt one but at $140 each, that is impossible.

These folks are quick to dismiss those seeking help. In my experience, the employees were there for a check, not to provide shelter/rescue for animals. The vet tech that I initially encountered would not even take the time to listen. When I asked if he knew of any other resources that I may not know of, he shrugged and said "tough luck". Texarkana Animal League and several other veterinarians in the area were MUCH more caring and helpful. At least they tried.

This place killed Candis Frick’s family dog who got out after refusing to let her pick the pup up during the weekend/veterans day and assuring her that her dog was safe and she could pick it up later on in the week. After this tragic mistake they became defensive and never gave a formal apology. Shame on these people.

They need to take “care” out of their name. This business does NOT care for pets.. they euthanize them and refuse to let owners bring them back home. How the employees live with themselves knowing the horrors that happen to these healthy friendly PETS that have a loving home waiting for their return is beyond me. Shame on you.

I called to inquire about a stray dog, before I even could say a word the rude woman answered the phone “ could you hold for a minute, thank you” didn’t wait for me to say yes or no. When she finally answered the phone, I explained my situation to her, she responded right off $150 because I was outside city limits, then she proceeded to let me know they are full. I ask about rescues, she suggested calling the sheriffs office. If this is how Animal control operates, then it’s no wonder stupid people dump innocent animals, their chances of survival is better.

Today at 3:40 pm Dec 27th I called to report a lost dog. The guy on the phone was SO rude. He had a major attitude with me from the beginning. I called and said I needed to report a lost dog and he said “where are you at” I said “at my house” and proceeded to tell him the street name that I saw because I was outside, he then cuts me off as I’m trying to tell him and put me on hold. Then he came back and said “I need the address” and I said “ok I’m getting it right now” and he RUDELY said “you don’t know your own address?” I said “I’m at my moms visiting from out of state I’m getting it right now” and he said “oh so you’re at your moms not your house” (Why does it matter which house I’m at) so then I said WHY DO YOU HAVE AN ATTITUDE WITH ME.... he said “because you can’t answer the questions I’m asking you” I said “i told you I’m getting the address right now why do you have an attitude with me I’m just trying to help this dog...” he said because “they’re other “911” calls” (I understood that but I wasn’t on the phone with him longer than 5 mins and he cut me off and put me on hold the first time I was trying to tell him the street name) so then I started telling him the address and he then RUDELY CUTS ME OFF AGAIN and puts me on hold again.... I’m sorry but I thought you needed the address ASAP LIKE ITS LIFE OR DEATH SO WHY WOULD YOU CUT ME OFF THE SECOND TIME AS IM TRYING TO TELL YOU THE ADDRESS??I really wish I knew this mans name, it was my first time reporting a lost dog and he was treating me so poorly right off the bat when he answered the phone. I get that you're having a bad day but don’t project your horrible customer service and rude attitude onto other people. Luckily the dog was not lost and the neighbors came for him while I was on hold so I just hung up.

Stopped by to love on some pups and donate a few items. The place looks amazing. The pups(and cats) are happy and healthy. I can’t wait to go back to get more pup love. Thanks staff for all you do!

The animal ones are really nice when they come out and talk to you the only problem is I don't like the fact that they built a new facility and they're still overcrowded maybe Arkansas needs a facility and Texas needs to I don't know what's our money going for that you know people pay to get dog tags what's that I'll going for if it's not to build places to get dogs why doesn't the city instead of building more dog shelters have a mandated mandated chip policy that in order to have a animal anywhere in the city of Texarkana it must have a chip at least that way you'll be able to return the dog to the owner right away

A little dirty and a lot stinky. Staff was friendly but could have been cleaning waste from the kennels instead of leaning on counter gossiping...Imho. We took home a kitten from here and am grateful they are there and do what they do for animals.

I was looking for a small four legged baby & decided to try Animal Care & Adoption first. Very friendly and helpful staff. I was allowed to walk through & the area was clean. I didn't end up getting a pet that day.

Well I called them 3 times and ask them to come pick up a family of 6 a moma and 5 kittens and they showed up and said because we had been feeding them they belonged to us so I called back and talked to another officer and he said he wld be out the next day and pick them up and they showed up and still didnt pick them up as I told them it was going to be cold but they didnt seem to be concerned, If u are going to be working with animals u wld think they wld like their job but they dont seem to be at all and they were really rud when it's not called for at all if u don't like working with animals get another career.

Just don’t bring your pet here. They will be mistreated. These people don’t care at all! Definitely need new workers at well...not trailer trash upfront.

They are cold blooded animal killers! Even if they know they have your pet. And that you will be there to get your pet. They will kill it. The Director is a joke and puffs up and yells at people. In my opinion he should not be in that position.
