A great place to bring kids. A lot of hands-on things for kids to learn about wildlife in the area. Free to visit. There's also a little souvenir shop and a virtual shooting range downstairs. They may even do archery for kids. They at least did for campers at Ponca Bible Camp last summer. Prior to the Elk Education Center being here it was the school building where the students from GATEWAY charter School for the 2000-2001 school year.

Beautiful nature center inside and out. Well detailed, informative and designed. Gave it 4 stars because they need to keep their walkway cleared. It was covered in leaves etc which made it easy to slip while walking to the nature center building from the parking lot.

The best nature center I’ve been to! Front desk lady was really sweet. There was so much to see and learn about the animals in the Ponca area. Very interactive for both kids and adults.

Very cool place to visit! There are many Hands-On activities and so much to learn there. Downstairs they have a shooting game set up that was a blast. Outdoors they've got a very nice picnic area. We brought a picnic with us and set up at one of the tables and enjoyed our lunch. Right behind the building is a little creek with a path that goes to it. I highly recommend this place if you're driving through.

Absolutely fascinating! For a small center, it is loaded with information and displays. The staff is very helpful. There are limited snacks, souvenirs, relevant books, free literature. You can buy hiking sticks, pins...We have been fortunate to have seen elk most trips. The drive from most anywhere is Ozark scenery at it's best. Autum leaves = breathtaking.
