This place is known for their smoked turkey and ham, and it's easy to see why!! Their ham and turkey combo plate is fantastic. The spicy mustard it is served with is delightful, and I don't even like mustard!! The coleslaw is creamy, the beans are saucy, and the cheese sandwich you get with the combo plate is perfect!! A great place, with great ambiance. A second location in Little Rock has their meats, but it is all smoked at this location.

When traveling to Shreveport I come that way just so I can stop at Burge's! Those hamburgers are deeeelicious!!!! The fish is awesome, along with fried pies, onion rings and pull pork sandwich. They have something for everybody!!

So I discovered The Arkansas Times has a best of bbq list, like Tx Monthly's. There is 40 on this list in Arkansas. I can't promise we will hit them all, but we will try. I realize Arkansas is about the pig and Texas is about the cow, mostly, I fear finding good or great brisket might be next to impossible in Arkansas. The list might also have other items they serve that is better than their bbq but we are trying these restaurants because of their bbq. So, here goes. That being said we tried a 3 meat plate at Burge's. The pork ribs didn't disappoint. Very tender and moist. The brisket here is called beef, not very tender and just average overall. The ham was dry. Sauce is required on these two meats. The coleslaw and beans were also above average. Stick with the pig when going here, or find something else on the huge menu of items. Great restaurant that has been opened since 1962. It must be doing something right to be around that long.

I had a sliced beef plate, BBQ beans and potato salad.I really wish they advertised that my beef would come smothered in what tastes like Kraft BBQ sauce.Really lacks any kind of experience of a famous BBQ place and gave me more of the feeling of prepackaged "cook in bag" food.Baked beans are decent, potato salad left some to be desired. Maybe I'll try their turkey and pray it's not dry.

Good food, but not quite as I recall. We always stop going north & usually south when traveling. The Turkey Melt was a little salty due to the bacon and the frosted coke definitely had a different flavor, must have changed ice cream. Neither was quite to my "loving", as in the past. Wonder if Burge's has a new owner?

A-mazing! I need to contact Guy F. to bring his show DINERS, DRIVE THRUS & DIVES!That catfish, that relish, that cole slaw... And those hushpuppeis! I wonder if Little Rock's locale taste as good as Lewisville, AR... Gonna have to go there and find out!

Got a turkey for Christmas last year after I had some of one at work during Thanksgiving. I have never tasted a turkey so delicious and moist and tender, as the one I got from Burge's. I drove in from HOT SPRINGS to pick it up. But it was so good, I'd drive that distance twice for such a bird. Also, they take care of EMS, and for that I am incredibly grateful!

Been looking forward to ribs from this place. Been great in the past… but what’s happened? Got them today and not at all the same. Too salty and too peppery. Couldn’t detect any smoke flavor. Not the worst but no longer my favorite. Hope it was just a bad rib day. I’ll try again because it’s always been excellent in the past.

I ordered the 7 piece fish basket. The fish was cooked thoroughly and crispy.I had enough for my mom and myself to eat.In addition, I ordered a turkey sandwich for my brother.The food was excellent and I will be returning again.I wish I had not slept on this place before. I will definitely be stopping again when traveling to this area again.

We stopped at this barbecue establishment under the impression that Southern BBQ joints follow the carnal rule. I ordered the combination plate. The ribs were good, brisket and turkey were not up to par. Our colleague took the chicken fry steak which was pretty decent. They make a killer Cherry limeade. The cherry limeade earned them an extra star.

Passed this place many times over the years and never had an opportunity to stop. Finally did today and man was is good. I had the smoked turkey sandwich and beer battered onion rings. The hubs had a traditional cheeseburger and fries. Sweet tea was fresh and good. The burger was real cow, not frozen trash..... and thick. Service was friendly and quick.

My sister brought me here while we were working on a project at her house. It's a very neat classic place to go to. There just aren't many old school places like this left.I ordered a Chipped Beef sandwich and a Hot Fudge Sundae. We sat outside and waited a while to get our food. The Chipped Beef was pretty mediocre. For a place that claims to smoke meat this sandwich was very short on flavor. There wasn't a hint of smokiness and the sauce was too mild to matter. My sister gave me a pinch of her smoked turkey melt and it was much better than mine. The ice cream was good though!So,,,would I go back? I would go back for the nostalgia & ice cream and that may inspire me to try something else. But this trip didn't leave me hopeful.Something that really stood out to me was the edge of the bun was grilled crispy. Not the whole inside of the bun but just the edge. It really stood out as unique while eating the sandwich.

My son working in the area hauling box sand. We had trouble with our truck and I drove over 3 hours from Arlington TX to help him fix the truck. He was on side of the road 20 miles from the restaurant on highway 29 South. My son Google us somewhere to get some food whileI was on my way bring parts. Burge's Hickory Smoked Turkey and Ham came up we went here and got some food I REALLY ENJOYED the chilli dog, Smoked hot link and Catfish I ordered it was seasoning on the food and I LOVED the food it was so Delicious!!! I told my son he have a place to get him food while he working in the area. I'm checking the website to order a spiral ham for Thanksgiving. I can't wait to taste the ham. Keep up the great work. The relish that you can get with the fish plates. (yummy!) I NEVERED had the green tomato pickles. I'm ordering me a jar it really taste good with fish.

So I got up today and it was raining which put a damper in my previous plans. I decided to drive down and get some barbecue it's about an hour and a half from my house. I have eaten there before but it's been several years. The food was pretty decent the ribs fell off the bone as you would expect, the person with me got catfish and enjoyed that as well. The service was kind of mediocre I don't really believe any employee wanted to be there. I would not say they were rude so it was acceptable but you could just tell they didn't want to be there. Thanks to her current economic conditions and this type of food is expensive to buy anywhere so the prices were acceptable. I would recommend trying it if you're in the area.

Got the combination plate hot links ribs potato salad baked beans bread were delicious! But the beef and pork were tough and dry an it was the largest part. BBQ sauce covered the meat and was also good. This was on a Sunday about 5 o'clock. Service was good and fast.Edited. The hot links are my favorite.

I tried a variety of the food from here, and it was all delicious. The cheese burger was made to order, the sliced smoked beef was on point, the tater tots were just right, and the fried catfish is awesome! While I was there a local recommended the smoked turkey. Maybe next time!

Burge's is a great place to pick up a great smoked turkey. And while I'm there I always pick up a few sandwiches from the restaurant side of the business. They have a pretty broad menu though, with various sandwiches and barbecue plates and quite a few other things. The turkey is absolutely wonderful.

I've been a huge fan of Burger's for decades and especially enjoy visiting this original location in Lewisville. The service is always great, and the food is almost indescribably good. On my latest visit I enjoyed a barbecued chicken plate that was piled high with scrumptious eats, but I also love their super good smoked turkey salad and perfectly prepared fried pies. Stop by next time you're near. You'll be glad you did.
