Great place to fly into. Just watch out for the occasional lawnmower on the runway. If you hire a guide, there is only one name you need to know, Gene.My first trip there I didn’t catch a single fish. My 9 year old son probably caught about 6, my Dad 3-4. With Gene we caught 6 browns, and probably 40+ rainbows. I literally lost count. The restaurant cooked them up for us that night and they were excellent. We had a blast. Thanks Gene!

We are camping at the state park and had dinner here tonight. We were absolutely amazed at the restaurant and decor, so clean and very unexpected. We ordered chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken, so delicious! It came out from the kitchen piping hot and the broccoli spears were amazing!! Our waiter, didn’t get his name, but was so professional. We will be back again!

We only came for the restaurant. We flew in on a private plane for my honeys bday. I’ll get to straight to the point- the service is amazing! But the food is mediocre. Salad bar is absolutely amazing! 3 stars are because they got our friends order wrong twice. He ordered his steak medium rare, and they cooked it well done. By the time they brought it out, we were done with our meal. It still wasn’t cooked correctly. The waitress told us we would get free dessert for the trouble and some $ off our check but that did not happen. They charged full price. when we checked our bag, we only had a birthday dessert and the extra Box was filled with whipped cream. 😒😒😒 no extra free dessert.Very shady.

Although I have yet to spend the night or even go out on the river fishing, at least 2 or 3 times a year we'll go down here from Springfield Missouri just to have a nice drive and then an excellent meal with riverside views. We've had sunday brunch, regular lunch, and dinners, and the food is always excellent. The atmosphere of the place with all the antiques hanging around and the exposed wood beams make it a very relaxing place to sit back and enjoy. I'm sure we'll eventually spend the night and get out on the water, but even if it's just a trip for a nice meal and the view of the river it's worth it. Nice walking area along the river, and even a landing strip if you've got your own plane! Go....

Can not give an honest rating as we did not stay here. We stayed up the road at the state park. Just wanted to say how impressed we were with the staff we met. Fly shop up the road said we could go there and fish from the bank so we did. We met a few of the staff, they were helpful in pointing out which way to go. One even told us what bait he had use while on a lunch break, very cool as we used the same bait and it paid off.From the outside looking in, the place looks great. Even has a grass strip for those that want to fly in and out.Will look into a stay here on our next visit. This was our 1st time here.

Beautiful place to get away from it all. Not easy to get there unless you fly in, I guess. But worth the effort. Good food, comfortable PRIVATE cabin, but "average" service the weekend I was there--I'm sure it's up and down depending on the season--nothing really to complain about. It's clean. Respectful, pleasant clientele. Unspoiled. The best part was the fish--I ate what I caught within an hour, took the rest home. I hope I get to go back someday.

We had a Sales meeting at Gaston's and it was a great time. Good fishing. Great Guides Jim and Brandon. Cozy rooms, hot showers, cold AC, and nice group area in the River Villa. The restaurant was fabulous. I had breakfast a couple of times and the scones are amazing. I also had dinner sitting by the river and the salad bar is unbelievable loaded with cheese ball, cheese cubes, olives, potato salad, macaroni salad, (3 different types) pea salad, cracker assortment, and all the salad bar fixing. The Rainbow Trout with the mushroom hollandaise sauce was omg lick your plate clean delicious. Honey and Lavender cheesecake was superb. The staff was a highlight as well. Everyone from maintenance, Housekeeping, store, restaurant, bartenders was so polite and accommodating delivering top tier customer service.

Mike Howell was are our guide. He was the best guide we have ever had. He is great with kids and is really patient and hardworking. We were out on the river for two days and caught tons of fish. He really is good about finding the fish. The rooms were great and the service was also amazing. The food and fishing were our favorite things. The view was awesome, it was my first time eating here. My husband got the bow tie Cajun pasta, he loved it. I got the chicken Alfredo pasta, I didn’t love it. It lacked that garlic-y flavor that Italian food has, it was good but I think they can improve. Our server was super nice, a middle aged man. The salad was my favorite part. It was so good.

Second time visiting the area and eating at the restaurant. Had the brunch 1st time it was very good. Everything delicious on it.Over the 4th of July holiday came in for dinner. No complaints again. Food was amazing again. Exceptional service from our server Scott. He was a pleasure to have wait on us. Loved watching the humming birds on the feeder while we sat at our table. Will definitely be back again.

My party of 4 arrived at 6pm Today and we received abhorrent service. While our waiter was new, we had to ask for drinks, salad plates, refills, and our food order. It took 30 minutes just to get our salad plates for the bar. Our waiter would actively avoid eye contact with us. After 45 minutes we finally begged for him to take our order.2 of our stakes were way over cooked. I waited 15 minutes and never saw our waiter. I finally asked for the manager. A young women informed me she was the manager, and she would help us. I showed her the stakes and she took them off our table. I just asked that we not be billed as it had already been 1 hour and 30 minutes and the other 2 in our party were done eating.10 minutes later she came back and told me that one of the stakes were over cooked, but the other one was “fine”. She brought the plate out to me and used her cell phone light and used her hands to pry open the meat. She instructed me how to tell if a steak was cooked properly. She then told me she could dispose of it, or I could eat it, but no refund was possible. This is after a total of 1 hour and 45 min of being there. She took my plate (with the sides as well) and charged me full price even though we ate 0% of anything. The manager was quite rude. We waited another 15 minutes for the check.In total it took us 2 hours to get the worst food and service I have ever seen.

A true slice of heaven. Located in upper Arkansas near the Missouri line, this place offers a great place to fish. They have a great place out front of the resort to play soccer or football.I would suggest checking this place out for a family vacation or a reunion.

We stayed last year for a week and it was WONDERFUL! Our cabin was cozy, we were able to bring our dog, the nature watching was great! We saw Great Blue Herons, Bald Eagles, armadillos, otters, muskrats, and some toads! There are so many trails to walk, and on one walk I learned that Herons nest in trees! We are returning this year. It’s also a bonus that my grandma’s bike is hanging in the restaurant! Speaking of the restaurant, the food was great, and the view with dinner was spectacular! Right on the river, watching a bald Eagle search for its dinner! Truly a wonderful and memorable experience! Really looking forward to our trip this year!

Wonderful place to stay in the Ozarks with White River frontage.The staff here is A-1, the ladies in the front office are so sweet, personable and accommodating. They make you feel right at home. 🤗Gaston's is in great location to any amenities you may need. You are 10 minutes from the town of Lakeview (Dollar General, small restaurants) and 20 from Mountain Home (hospital 🏥, Walmart). There are many parks and recreation areas nearby, namely the Bull Shoals White River State Park. The park has a great visitor center as well as its own campground and mountain biking trails. 🏕️🏞️ You are also pretty close to Blanchard Springs and the Norfolk Dam & lake.This place makes for a nice day trip, but you could easily spend a week here just unwinding in the woods and taking advantage of all that they have to offer. 🌲🏞️ This is a really lovely place cared for and managed by diligent people.Rooms: The rooms here are spacious and spotless, super clean. They retain some historic charm while still being up to date with modern appliances, like a fridge/freezer combo and a TV (although you won't come here just to bingewatch shows). 📺 All of the windows in the rooms open, so you can enjoy fresh air in the cooler months. 🍃🍁 Every room has views of the river. It's so nice to watch the morning fog roll in. 🌫️🌁🚣 There are vending machines and ice makers scattered intermittently between cottages.Nearby activities: There are a few trails located inside the resort, including walking and biking trails west of the office 🚴‍♀️🚶‍♂️, and wildflower/garden trails at the beginning of the property. 🌼 On the trails west of the offices, there are benches placed throughout for bird & wildlife-watching (deers, squirrels, armadillos!) 🦌🐿️ There is an airstrip located on-site, where you can watch planes land and take off. 🛩️ There is a bird enclosure with turkeys, pheasants and peacocks! 🦃 Walkability: The property is easily walkable, with every amenity you could need (bathrooms, food, water, office, phones, people) in close proximity to your cottage/cabin.Food & drinks: There are a few vending machines on site, and the office has lots of snack-like foods, as well as s'mores kits.Noteworthy details: They decorate very well for the holidays! 🎄⛄🎀🎊 The property is so inviting and warm when you arrive back after a day of fishing and hiking.

We have always received first class service at Gaston's. My wife and I got married at Gaston's in 2018. The cabins give a nostalgic river feel, which is what you should want/expect when at the river. The White River is simply put, second to none when it comes to trout fishing in Arkansas. The staff is friendly, and will accommodate for all guests. Whether flying in, or driving in, you will be hard pressed to find a dog friendly resort with a classy restaurant, and quality hospitality like Gaston's on the White River.

We had Ashley as a waitress. She was WONDERFUL. Our drinks never went empty and her sense of humor is impeccable! She really knew the menu and was able to help us pick out something outstanding. I had the rainbow trout with mushroom hollandaise, loaded mashed potatoes and salad with house dressing. They were excellent. The smoked trout poppers are wonderful too! We will definitely be back!

Excellent service, food was great. The salad boat has great options as an appetizer. We ordered Mozzerella sticks and potatoe skins before realizing this.Had a brocolli salad, cole slaw and a salad. All great.Our party was large, the waitress was great and very responsive. Not to mentio the view from our table!!Will be back.

Flew in from Nashville only to find the restaurant closed. There was nothing about the closure online or in ForeFlight. It actually stated online the restaurant was open. The lady at the front desk stated they knew this was a problem and still had not rectified the situation. 2 stars because the strip was a cool experience.

We went here for lunch when we saw the signs that said their restaurant was dog friendly. Its not! There is no designated area for pet owners. They told us we could get our meal to go and sit in one of the two bistro tables outside the gift shop(no shade- 100degrees outside) or their game room(?). No wait service at all. Food was ok. Just typical overpriced sandwiches. ($10.00 for 2 medium cups of tea!) If you bring your dogs stop at subway on your way. You might be able to find a bench along their dirt trail "riverwalk" to sit in. No picnic tables. We looked everywhere because they said they had them. Oh and if you go without pets make a reservation. The hostesses were not happy with guests that just walked in. We didnt stay overnight here but by looking at the outside of the "cabins", it looks like a fish camp. Or as my husband remarked, a church camp. The river is beautiful tho. Good luck!
