My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Gilbert RV Campground. We arrived in the rain and the owner (Jim) helped direct me while backing into our site. We enjoyed many conversations with Jim during our stay. Also enjoyed watching his dogs ride with him on the golf cart and herd the chickens every evening.Very accommodating and always making sure we had everything we needed. Gave us directions and information to local attractions.Location is great. Short walk to river outfitter and Buffalo River. If we ever visit the area again, we will definitely stay there again.

This is a great place to stay, not your typical RV campground, Jim the owner was very hospitable, made my wife and I feel very welcomed. We were paid a visit by a dog one day, thought it was the owners but as it turns out, she belonged to someone in town and she likes to spend time welcoming the visitors, very nice touch. There are also chickens on the property, turns out Jim has lots of eggs from the chickens and was eager to share them with us, nothing better than fluffy omelets in the morning while watching the chickens. Over all this is a great place to camp while visiting the Buffalo River, the wife and I had a great time and we would definitely come back here, one of our top 5 places to camp.Nearby activities: Buffalo River is a short walk.

Down to earth, genuine Arkansas experience with all the glamping necessities! The owner and operator is so friendly and has a little store for necessities. Walking distance to a few different access points for the Buffalo River, canoe/kayaking, and a little playground. Absolutely gorgeous! We'll be back at the cabin next year!

This was a wonderful place to stay. The owners are welcoming and helpful. They even have a cute little store. Homer and Lola will greet you with a friendly wagging tail. We will come back. Clean restroom and shower. Beautiful area very close to the Buffalo River. We enjoyed our stay very much! Thank you!

Mr Jim and his wife are the best! You simply will not find better people if ya try. We come at least once every year and love the place. We have 2 boys and always bring friends that camp as well. It's always laid back and not a party campground. Great place for family. Also has an awesome place to access the river just at the end of the street. Cool place hang out listen to music and swim, Mr Jim will even give ya some tubes to borrow for the day. Had a small problem with my power cord last trip and Mr Jim was quick to help me diagnose the problem and help me fix it. All ain all this place is atvthe top of my favorites to camp!

Jim and his family are the nicest people ever and have a wonderful family friendly campground with all the amenities and is walking distance to the buffalo river!!!They went out of there way to make sure we enjoyed our stay and made it feel like home away from home. They have two amazing playful dogs that are like the campground mascots that love all the tourists. Will be back soon!!!

Beautiful property, warm, kind and friendly owners. I lucked out and had beautiful weather for my stay. Don't forget your tick deterrent for you and your pets as there is a nice trail to walk at the back of the property. Definitely will stay again my next trip.

We spent 2 nights at Gilbert RV Campground and it was wonderful. The campground isn't big or fancy, but that's what made it so nice. The spots were level and easy to access. Mr. Jim was friendly and helpful. The Buffalo River access is within walking distance. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and hope to visit again one day!

We love this campground! Mr. Jim is so helpful. The campground and facilities are clean and beautiful. It is a short walk to the river. And, you will have cell service here as opposed to some other campgrounds in the area. We will definitely make this a yearly camping trip.

had a chance to spend several days at Gilbert RV Campground and we had an great time. The campground is really nice and the owners are the nicest folks. Enjoyed sitting and visiting with Jim in the store. It is been over 35 years since canoeing the Buffalo and it was exactly or better than I remember it. Well worth the drive from North Carolina

Had a great time staying here and floating the Buffalo River. We stayed in the cabin. Everything was brand new and updated. Had everything we needed and we could hang out with our friends who brought their RV. Jim and his family were super nice to my kids and willing to help with anything we needed. He was very helpful with letting us know what kind of local attractions were available and the best places to go swimming and fishing. We will definitely be back. Jim had some things in his store we totally forgot! He could have marked up a bag of sugar to $10 and I would have payed it but he is not interested in taking advantage of his patrons. Great, honest place!

At first appeared a nice campground. Check-in and set up when well and the host (who I believe was the owner) helped us get set on our spots. When two in our group came up from the river shortly after the host quickly came back to our site and demanded the person "come register"(bear in mind, we had already registered that we would have 8 total guests in our group)!! When he asked that he be able to shuttle his car first and then register the host became agitated and told him he "had 15 minutues to leave!!" We asked why and received no explanation, when we continued to ask he told us we had to leave as well. He left then returned to our campsite with a handgun in his waistband and threatened that the guy off the river wasn't allowed back on the property. I advised he had my truck (going to get his shuttle vehicle) and that I couldn't move my travel trailer without it. He suggested he should park off site and I should retrieve it. Our group was 8 men in our 50's and 60's who pose no threat. We had two very nice RV's and a couple tents. We at first asked for the Sheriff to be called, however after the gun, we decided this wasn't a place we felt safe staying NOR wanted to give him any business. Not sure what set him off, but this is NOT what we wanted for our short getaway! Photo of guy attached. Note the handgun in his left side waistband.

DON’T camp here the owner is horrible, we were close to Gilbert and owner said if we get there after 5 we were not going to be setting up there even though we had reservations. Then we had reservations to stay till Saturday morning and he told us at 3 Friday afternoon we only had reservations till this day Friday. So he said we had to leave and on top of that he charged us extra for not leaving at 11 that morning.

The sweet people that own and run this place are beyond the best of the best. They are kind, friendly and lovely people. Me. Jim and Dawn will make you feel at home, away from home. They offer camping spots, RV spots with full hookups, small cabins, 1 bed room cabin, tents, playground, chickens, fire pit, movies, bingo, among much more. Make your next stop on the Buffalo be at Gilbert RV Campground.

We stayed 2 nights while traveling in Arkansas. Very nice, quiet rv park. The owner is one of the nicest hosts we have ever met. Called in while on road, did not ask for deposit. We will certainly come back to this park

Would not recommend.Upon arrival, we checked in with the older guy at the office and notified him that we would have 8 people over two RV spots and one tent site. After setting up both RVs and having old guy tell us exactly where to park and all of the things we cannot do, he had a negative interaction with one of our guests because he had not officially checked in even though he was one of the 8 people in our party. This altercation could have easily been resolved, but instead he suddenly told all of us to leave, went back to his office to get his pistol and stood there and stared at us while we packed up our RVs. We were a group of men in our 50s and 60s and no threat to anyone, but he was obviously intimidated by our presence. Tent camping is not convenient at all, as you cannot park near the tent sites.

I originally booked with another RV park and they had to give me a refund due to them not having 50 amp plugs and sewer. Mr. Jimmy and his wife found a spot for me and made it work. He went out of his way to help me out! Extremely nice people and very family friendly park. It is in walking distance of the canoe rental for the buffalo river. Probably the best RV park in the area.

We had a wonderful experience staying at the Gilbert RV Campground this weekend! The customer service exceeded expectations! They were unbelievably accommodating and friendly. The campgrounds are ideally located in relation to the Buffalo River and has a cafe conveniently right next to it. You can easily walk to the the Gilbert General Store to rent canoes, kayaks, rafts or tubes and they shuttle you to the locations where you can start the float. You end up right by the campgrounds and can walk back. Very convenient. Also within easy driving distance of several caverns and a drive-in movie! Great 4th of July weekend!!

We have been to Gilbert many, many times as my husbands family lived close by. We have floated the Buffalo for several years. We have never personally stayed here, but have driven thru the site. This site is perfect. They have fire rings, picnic tables, and they are a short walking distance to the river. When floating the Buffalo you don't want to miss staying here. Unlike the negative comments made by a dissatisfied customer, they were obviously at the wrong place. The pictures you see are exactly what you get.

MINUS stars would apply here. Made a reservation. Arrived too early to settle in, so drove through and looked at campground, then toured the neighborhood. When we came back to check in the owner told us to go away, because he “already put our stuff away”. What stuff he’s speaking of I have no idea because there is nothing here and no accessories are offered, and none were requested by us. ~ I guess he was referring to the sticky note he wrote our name down on when we called. ~When we tried to make heads or tails of this, he said that a lot of people come, look at the place , leave and never & come back. So he assumed we weren’t coming back. (I guess that’s because it looks like the kind of place that you really would rather not stay). It is next to a canoe rental place loaded with traffic, only two rv’s present, dogs running around, and at the end of basically a dead end. In a place where tourism is the ONLY business, someone who doesn’t want to deal with tourists, or people in general. The Other campground is nicer. It’s wooded and pretty. This one is a big parking lot. They are both owned by the same family. I’d stay at the other one and do your Canoe or Kayak rental here (because it’s the only place). The other one is one minute away. Much more scenic, less traffic and also minus dealing with crazy, grumpy old man.

Clean bathrooms and grounds. Spots are easy to access, gravel roads. Near the Buffalo river. There is currently a rooster nearby that might wake you up every morning. Make sure you reserve a place near the office if you want to use the wifi. The signal gets weaker the farther out you are.

Great placeThe owners daughter road with us to Tyler’s bend to drop us and I kayaks off and drove our truck back. There is a trail about 200 yards from the camp ground that is along a bluff that is easy walking. They are really good people and we will be back this year.

Gilbert RV Campground is a great place to stay. Mr. Jim is super nice and will help you get your camper set and hooked up. The bathrooms and showers are very clean. This campground is a family atmosphere and on Saturday night they have a movie or play bingo at the pavilion. Close to the Gilbert drop off so it's in walking distance from the river. We love it here and will stay here EVERYTIME we come to the Buffalo River! The Gilbert Cafe is just a hop, skip and a jump from the campground and has excellent food. That's why I give Gilbert RV Campground and Mr. Jim and his family 5 STARS!!!!!

Awesome service!Owner Jim and his friend Bill turned out to be one of the highlights of our paddling trip. When pending rains forced us off the river at Gilbert, they scrambled with their personal vehicles to get our gear from the river up to the camground before the storm hit. Jim gave us a good tent rate, let us use one of the rv hookup sites, and even gave us a free storage bag. Then they gave us a friendly send off the next morning. Unbelievable!Shower house was in fine shape and there's the essential camping items available in the little shop at his office. Thanks guys. From Leila & Steve

We love the little tiny community of Gilbert mainly because it's right on the river. Mr. Jim the manager of the campground is terrific. We wish there was more room in the campground so the sites would be wider but we understand space limitations.

This lovely place is CHOICE. Good price, nice spaces and spacing between RVs. Fresh eggs and a playground. They sell firewood and have a little store at the office. The folks running the place are truly good people and they have two good dogs if that says anything. Laid back, quite town with a lovely waterway down the hill. Everything is within alwking diatance.

Mr. Jim has to be one of the nicest people on earth. He was so helpful, accommodating and knowledgeable about the area. And we absolutely loved his fur babies, Homer & Lola!
