This place is no "Haven". From the article I can only deduct, that this is an animal hell. Happily euthanizing a dog without proper holding time. I guess there is also a question of missing funds? I wonder, if they get paid per euthanized animal? And how is the staff trained, if they cannot handle an obviously scarred and confused dog? For a "developed" nation, the U.S has terrible animal welfare laws already and then we have "rescues" that don't deserve the name by a long shot. Too bad, that there is no negative star option. I cannot fathom, how some people sleep at night? Must be a lack of empathy and morality.

I've worked in shelter medicine and there was no reason to euthanize that husky without keeping it for a holding period to let it decompress first. I hope everyone there involved in that horrendous decision is held accountable. Well done 👏, you murdered someone's family member, I hope you never sleep again.

This place euthanized a dog they just got claiming it was aggressive not long after it arrive at their shelter. They didn’t try to find the owners or wait. They also can’t provide photos or a death record when they are supposed to. Definitely would not recommend this place if they are that cruel to the animals they take in.

I wish I could give yall 0 stars. Yall love to euthanize animals. You didn’t have any record of this dog until owner sent pics. Yall are supposed to have a 15 day hold and yall waited 3 hours before euthanizing him! Makes me sick what kind of a shelter Arkansas has!!!!

I was recently informed, through a News Article that they Euthanize dogs coming to them with in a few hours of arrival, without any record , and not giving the Amount of hold time as stated by Arkansas Law

does not follow policy or laws regarding obtaining lost/stray animals. kills animals upon arrival without entering animal into the system. poorly ran and shows no sign of remorse for their wrong doings

Took home a young catahoula so my other catahoula could have a playmate. Marlo, the dog I took home, on day one is already a great addition to the household. Look forward to many a year with the dude. The staff was friendly and took care of me. Seeing some of the negative reviews; all I can say is the shelters are really tough places... for both the animals and those who work at them. Perfection can't be expected, because in a perfect world we wouldn't need to have such places. I appreciate the folks I interacted with through the adoption process, and stoked I could find a good dog to add to my home. I recommend Ft Smith Animal Haven because I had a good experience, and because I would recommend any rescue shelter in opposition to any other alternative. Much thanks to them and the happiness they've provided. Lastly, $50 for an adoption fee is quite reasonable, as I three of my four dogs are rescues, and the other two both were much more... not a bad deal to help make an animal's life and your own better.

The shelter itself is fantastic. The staff that care for the animals, including the adoption and foster counselors, volunteers, vet techs, and kennel techs/cat caretakers, all work so hard every day to give the animals the best care they can. Management and the director could improve certain things and conditions for the animals with more transparency and professional leadership. PLEASE adopt and help give these babies here a home so that numbers may decrease and in turn help staff and animals that remain.

We like to visit the animals here even though we cannot adopt one. They let us go in a room to play with a special animal and they have toys and treats in there you can give them, it’s great. You can also take a dog outside in a fenced in little area to get to know them better. They have both cats and dogs and are always excited to receive donations! The employees are super friendly too!

They don’t let the you see the living conditions of the animals before you adopt. They are very abrasive when you get there. I stayed all of two minutes but I’m really not going to donate when I don’t know where the money is going. Very odd place.

I called for a friend who lost her cat during a storm, the kids and mom were distraught. I called FS Animal Haven, and although busy they took the time and wrote information just in case it turned up there. Thanks for making my friend feel the care.P.S. her cat returned the next day- safe.

I have never been there before until today. The staff that I met seem to be very caring about all of their pets. The lady I spoke to today while there, we talked for at least 20 minutes and the feeling that I got from our conversation, they have a very watchful eye for all of the pets in their care.

I found a mom cat and 2 kittens and had absolutely no way or place to keep them. After being turned away multiple times trying to make sure they would be safe and sound, the kind director and workers here just would not tell me no. Even though they were at capacity they still went above and beyond. It was easy to tell that they honestly cared. So if you happen upon this comment and are an animal lover, please swing by and adopt a pet, or maybe make a quick donation. Anything to return the help.

I wouldn't recommend them to my enemies. My neighbor brought a puppy home about a week ago. About a day and a half after bringing him home he got lethargic and wouldn't eat so she took him to her vet and found out he had parvo. She called Kitties and Kanines and they told her that it was just a puppy virus so they knew. She has spent thousands of dollars trying to save this puppy that the shelter wouldn't help her with at all. They said she had to bring him in to them to get treated but since they gave her a sick dog she didn't really trust them to treat him. (can you blame her) Well last night he lost his battle. I'm glad he got to be loved by a family before leaving this world.I'm not writing this to tell people not to take animals from there. I'm just warning people to make sure they're well before you do. Just make sure you find out everything there is to know about the animal before you take it home. Request proof that the animal has either been tested, treated, or vaccinated.

I brought home two new members and now we are three just relaxing getting to know each other.I recommend this shelter, the staff are so helpful in parrying the right animals, they take all the time it takes for introduction.I received some starter food along with medical information age and temperament.Thank you so much we are enjoying a happy home and lots of love.

I got chosen by a beautiful kitty to be it's forever home today! The staff was very helpful and friendly, also patient. They took the time to figure out our needs to get us an animal with similar needs. All the animals up for adoption were healthy and well cared for. Everything is done for them health wise as well. You really can't go wrong adopting from them.

I love what this place and it's people do for animals but my son and I went there last Thursday. We were there to bring puppy pads and towels, etc. We couldn't get in because the doors were locked and nobody answered the phone. We were just going to leave when a pregnant woman showed up with a stray dog she had found. We didn't want to leave her there alone and we saw a man doing yard work but he ignored all of us. Finally after twenty minutes of calling and banging on the door an employee came to the door and said they had three people out due to illness. I wish they would ask for volunteers to help because I would have been glad to assist.

We saw a cat in the window that we really liked. Our daughter has been wanting a cat so we told her about it and she drove 30 miles to see the cat Friday. We were there on Thursday they were closed. when she got there Friday they were closed. she called Thursday to let them know she was interested she called in again Friday and left a messages each time. I thought it was theregoal to find homes for these animals. We are extremely disappointed in Kitties and Kanines. We even took eight brand new blankets to them but they were closed so we took them over to the kitties and kanines veterinarian
